I'll explain: The location is not great. It is in front of the cargo harbor and the surroundings are dead. It is disconnected from the city and there is not even a cafe around. There are not Ubers coming here most of the time. Believe it or not, the check in "starts" at 3 pm. I wrote them in advance requesting them to be sensitive to the fact that I was traveling transcontinentally, but, even though they confirmed that the hotel had available rooms when I arrived in the morning, there was no way for them to avoid making me wait untill late afternoon to get access to my room.: In a totally unusual manner, they start giving rooms almost at dinner time. Very insensitive, not-making-sense-at-all and unlike the way any serious hotel deals with check in time. When I finally got my room, the bathroom had drainage issues and the whole room had an awful sewage smell, that did not go at any time during the two days I stayed there. Quite unpleasant. On top of that, the room is poorly designed. The bathroom has no door, so that, if you share the room with someone else, one is waken up by the light of the bathroom being used by the other person, in the middle of the night (can you believe no one thought about something as basic as this during the design process?). Overall: I would not recommend to use this hotel. This city has tons of good hotels, no need to come to the not-great one.

Standard AC hotel…read more This is a business chain with characteristic smart modern decor and service. Excellent value. Scrupulously clean. Good sized rooms. Rooftop pool. Easy walk into the city centre. Underground car park is a bit bijou if you're trying to park a rental car. (Don't hire a big one, for goodness sake - or make sure it comes with rear view cameras.) Definitely recommended. (Wifi and minibar is free if you're a Marriott Elite member in an exec room. We had to remind them, but all got sorted out easily.)

We were so happy with our stay at this place! The hotel had pretty much everything we could have…read moreasked for. We were four girls looking for a relaxing break after finishing college exams. The rooms aren't massive but they're very comfortable and both rooms had stunning views over the sea. The rooms are of course very good value and the location is pretty perfect, few minutes walk to the beach and maybe fifteen or twenty minutes into the centre of town where we ate and drank every night. The first night we were all wrecked so stayed in for the hotel dinner. We didn't get down there until probably 10, and it closes at 11, so the food wasn't the freshest and the selection was kind of random. It was also the middle of May so not peak season by a long shot and dinner was virtually empty. We also learned that it's possible to eat for very little in Alicante so it was overpriced for what it was, though you get a drink with the price of 12 euro. On our last morning however we had the breakfast and it was fantastic. Full continental, plenty of cereals and breads, donuts and pastries, juice, toast and all buffet for 9 euro. It's worth making it down, because we didn't find many places in town that did a traditional brekkie. We were disappointed on the first day to hear that the pool was actually closed until the middle of June, but as it turns out, people will hop in for a dip regardless, and the bar by the pool is still open. We didn't use the other facilities except for the gym, which is a glass box on the roof of the swimming pool bar. I'd advise anyone intending on a workout to do so either before afternoon or after sunset, because in the evening the sun is hitting directly into the gym and it's an absolute sweat-box-- not to mention the metal weights and machines are scorching! Nice for a good sweat but not the most comfortable and the air-con isn't always effective. I don't think there was much in the negative at this hotel. The cocktails by the pool are limited and very, very sweet-- both Mojito and Cosmo had added sugar and were really only vaguely worth calling those names. They were tasty enough but not very much like an actual Mojito or Cosmo. The elevators are also a bit slow, but we were on the 10th floor, so not surprising. The staff are generally quite nice, not all speak great English but most did and were helpful. They will hold bags at the desk if you have time to kill before check-in/after check-out. If I were coming back to Alicante I would definitely be happy to stay here again.
