She quickly contacted me (like within 5-10 minutes) after I used her online booking portal to gather more details and to confirm my appointment time and location. She was transparent from the beginning and let me know that she had an appointment right before mine and that depending on where I was located, she may not be able to meet my time request. She quickly determined that I was within 5 minutes from her other appointment so she would be able to get to me in time. I proceeded to pay my deposit and I also received several texts and emails leading up to my appointment to confirm. On the day of, Kristin arrived early! She let me know when she was on her way, when she was parking (I was at a hotel) and when she was headed up to my room. I opened the door to a smiling face and a warm personality. Of course I enjoyed getting my makeup done but I also enjoyed getting to know Kristin and learning more about her. She's just an awesome person. So how did she do? Well not only was she quick, I have never loved my makeup as much as I loved it when Kristin did it. I've been to many makeup artists and Kristin is my favorite. I like a natural look and I don't like makeup to feel or look heavy. I couldn't even tell she had put foundation on me. I thought she was joking when she asked how heavy it felt. The problem was that I was doing a destination wedding and needed help once I got there. I didn't have a make-up artist in a different country and I was definitely NOT trusting someone there on my big day. (I would look like a washed out raccoon!) I asked Lisa if she could help me be beautiful.. I needed a consult and an instructor to guide me--To take the existing make-up I had, asses what else I needed, and teach me personally how to apply it so that not only in person, but for photos I would look my best. Now, this is not the same as having her do it for me however, it was the next and best thing. She was very professional, on time, knowledgeable, great listener, and adorably sweet as she patiently taught me how to apply my make-up, what things I should think about purchasing, and explained why this intricate blend or stroke would make for a better contour/shape/color/etc. She also gave me a full instruction sheet with face guide so that I could remember everything while being nervous the day of. (Which is still to this day, my life saver). Not only did I learn immensely and can now do my own face with confidence, but the pictures were exactly what I wanted. Called to book an appointment and spoke with Sean, who identified himself as the manager. His…read moreconduct was morally inappropriate and unprofessional. I explained concerns from a previous experience here solely to clarify my preferences and ensure a good stylist match. Instead of asking follow-up questions or discussing fit, he made a snap judgment that I "wouldn't like it here," refused to explain his reasoning, and abruptly ended the call. Declining a client is one thing; doing so without explanation and hanging up is another, ESPECIALLY when at no point did I talk or behave in a way that was inappropriate, or out of line. I did my due diligence as a client. I was consistently polite, never lodged formal complaints, never criticized stylists directly for their work, and compensated fairly with tips regardless of personal preference or outcome. Being abruptly told that I'm not a good fit there by a receptionist/"manager" who is not the service provider and does not have firsthand involvement in the stylist-client relationship is not only disproportionate and inappropriate but a role violation. While I understand that businesses may set boundaries when a client crosses a line, that was not the case here. The decision to cut off service without prior discussion, warning, or involvement from the stylist themselves was uncalled for, completely baseless, and outside of his role. This is outside of his authority to make this abrupt subjective judgement call. His conduct falls below acceptable ethical, moral and professional standards. A qualified manager would have asked what didn't work previously and determined whether the salon could meet those expectations. That conversation never happened. This action was extreme, beyond unjustified, especially given that no complaint was being made at the time and no misconduct had occurred Sharing this for others who value respectful communication and professional consultation when booking services.
