However, there were some downsides to the overall experience, especially given the premium price and the fact that I booked her for two looks and all-day touch-ups. Roya arrived to my bridal suite wearing a "MIGA" ("Make Iran Great Again") hat, a slogan modeled after Trump's MAGA movement and associated with political rhetoric about Iran. Regardless of personal beliefs or current events, wearing anything political as a wedding vendor is very unprofessional, especially when there is a chance of you being in bridal suite photos. Thankfully, my mom and maid of honor asked her to remove it before we headed to the venue because i didn't want my guests to misinterpret her hat, but the situation stressed me out on what was supposed to be a peaceful and relaxing morning . And the hat appeared in my wedding photos/video and I had to ask my videographer and photographer to make edits. She also ran about 30 minutes late to my trial and arrived 40 minutes late on my wedding day past my requested start time. I anticipated that she might be late based on reviews and prior experience and adjusted my timeline accordingly, but that is not something a bride should ever have to plan for, especially at this premium price point. Lastly, she left right as my reception began, despite me paying for touch-ups throughout the wedding. At the time I was fine with it, but by the time I cut my cake and after dancing, my bangs looked sweaty and no longer appeared polished. I am not sure if this is typical, but I wanted to share my experience.

So this past weekend I wanted to get a haircut but my normal person was on vacation (gone for a few…read moreweeks) and I was already overdue. I asked my wife if she had any suggestions and she mentioned her person. She's always been very happy with her hair and it looks great, so why not. I called over to Janese who has her own space in Image Studios, called Thairepy. I thought that was cute and clever. Super friendly from the time she answered and she was able to squeeze me in on a Saturday afternoon. When we arrived she greeted us with a big warm smile, she gave a quick tour of the whole facility (not sure if that's normal). They've got just about everything you could think of in one spot, nails, message, haircutting, estheticians, hair removal, even tattoos. It seemed like a one stop shop. Everyone I saw was friendly, outgoing, and professional. I've been seeing my person for about 25+ years so I'm sort of use to a simple barber shop vibe...this seemed like more. The whole shop was clean, smelt nice, and is in a great location with a view of the entire Saddleback Valley. Janese took me into her salon and got started on my hair. She asked questions like what do you usually get, how is it blended, and what I'm looking for overall. After some chit chat she got started. My typical haircut is pretty simple, a number two on the sides and back blended into the top, which is kept about 2.5". She started out with sheering the sides and back, once she was at a certain point she moved over to the wash bowl. This is wear it got interesting to me, she used her own shampoo and massaged and washed my scalp and hair. The shampoo has eucalyptus in it...this was amazing! I know this sounds weird (maybe it's just me) but it started feeling like a deep heat, or icy hot on my scalp. It felt SO GOOD! When she finished up I went back to the chair and she started cutting. For the rest of the hair cut I had this deep icy cool feeling all over my scalp, it was tingling at one point. Having never had anything like this it was very pleasurable and added to the experience. Janese had mentioned that she uses this on her male clients and that they really like it. I was sort of dismissive at first but came around in the long run as it felt incredible. I might go back for more of this. She whipped through my haircut like it was no big deal. Sort of like Edward Scissor Hands, tuffs of hair hitting the floor. The cut itself came out really nice and she kept asking if it looked okay to me. You can tell she take pride in what she does. It looks great Janese! My wife liked it as well. So it's a win win! Would I go back to see her again, without a doubt! Janese was easy to talk to, and made the whole experience a lot of fun, not to mention a great haircut. I think I may have made a new friend. HAHAHA! It seemed weird having fun getting a haircut, I had to share.
