We absolutely loved working with Daniel! He helped choreograph and teach us our wedding first dance. Neither my partner nor I are dancers at all so we were a bit nervous, but Daniel was amazing and made the choreography easy to understand by breaking each move down into smaller portions. He was incredibly patient, made us feel comfortable during each session and brought great energy! He helped record each session so that we could rewatch and practice at home on our own. And the best part was that we had so much fun at each session! We truly enjoyed going to dance class together. Daniel also helped teach us specific moves that looked incredible in photos and also taught us how to do our dip in the aisle. In the span of 5 weeks we went from not knowing how to dance at all to having a perfectly choreographed first dance that got tons of compliments from our wedding guests. We hired Daniel frantically 2 weeks before our wedding to take us from 0 to 100 for our first dance. My husband and I found Daniel several months prior to our wedding and we couldn't have found a better dance teacher! Daniel is patient, flexible, and has a great sense of humor. He worked with us to match our dance with the song we wanted to use and he was a very helpful coach and cheerleader as we spent hours trying to perfect every step. He taught us some great moves that looked great on camera and paid attention to every detail during our lessons. Daniel notices things about dances that the average person wouldn't think about, including the idea that for a wedding dance both people have to adjust for high heels and dress poofiness! He has a mock skirt to practice in, which was great in helping my husband understand the distance he would have to keep. Daniel worked with us to find just the right lift and spin for my dress type (while keeping my dress a secret from my husband). My husband is a little self-conscious about dancing in front of people and Daniel is such a kind man and helped make my husband and I both feel at ease right off the bat. Of course, I can't leave a review without mentioning what an amazing dancer Daniel himself is! He is quick, has a knack for remembering small details about choreography from week to week, and is so much fun to dance with. Daniel also did a great job setting our expectations for how the day would actually go, including where we should expect cheers from the crowd and how the crowd will disappear when we are in the moment together. We received a ton of compliments and applause at the wedding during our dance, but we didn't even notice the applause until we saw the videos. Daniel was right on! Even my self-conscious husband had all of his fears subside as we entered the dance floor! That 3 minutes of our wedding day was the only time in the hustle and bustle of it all where we felt like it was just us two together while the world around us melted away. After our wedding, we continued to go to Daniel's weekly group dance lessons and loved every second of it. My wife and I had zero dance experience, but with Daniel's lessons we were able to wow ourselves and our guests with our first dance at our wedding! We did five lessons with Daniel over six weeks, practicing 30 minutes almost every day in between lessons. Daniel is an excellent teacher and had us improving every week, adding new parts to the dance to learn and practice. Our first dance song is just over 4 minutes which is quite long, but Daniel was able to construct and iterate on the dance routine based on what he thinks would look good and what we were comfortable with doing. We really enjoyed our dance lessons with Daniel, and had so much fun learning from him to create and perfect our 1st dance! It is very clear that Daniel has mastered the art of dance (all sorts of dance) AND has the gift of teaching. We had no dance experience but Daniel managed to teach us a great number of moves that allowed us to dance to two completely different songs and wow our audience with really cool dance moves! -- a slow 2-step dance (can't help falling in love) and fast salsa (despacito). Even after just the first lesson, we already had dance moves that got us halfway there, but we ended up adding more classes (and more intricate moves) because we had so much fun. We really appreciated his gentle, but masterful approach to teaching, as well as his very strong attention to detail. He even specified things like how our hands should look so that the photo pose comes out nicely, and where we should be looking to maximize the chemistry and storyline. My husband and I went to Daniel Singer for dance lessons before our wedding this past September. We put off taking lessons until just before the wedding and I was concerned we wouldnt have enough time. I called Daniel to ask about lessons and he called back promptly and was willing to set up lessons that same week in order to fit in 4 lessons before our wedding date (we ended up taking four 1-hour classes, one class a week for a month). I appreciated that he was responsive, accommodating, and reasonably priced (I looked into other dance lessons on the Peninsula and Daniel has the best pricing). At the first lesson, he helped us to choose between our two top song picks based on the style of dance that would fit each one. He was extremely encouraging and willing to review steps as many times as we needed to feel comfortable. He gave us a manageable amount of new material during each lesson with time to practice the new steps. We took them home, practiced some more and then came back with any questions. Daniel was also great about letting us film new steps so we could refer back when practicing at home. He was very nice about pointing out details that would help to make our dance more polished (what to do with your arms, which direction to face, how to make a graceful entrance/exit). I would call our dance semi-choreographed. We were definitely not making it up on the spot but we didnt have exact steps that had to be performed on specific counts. Daniel taught us various steps and showed us how to put them together. He suggested an order for the steps and helped us connect the right type of steps with the right moments in the song. If we missed a step or took too long/too short we just adjusted the rest as needed. Daniel made the lessons easy-going and non-intimidating and we had a lot of fun. We got tons of compliments on our first dance which is 100% because Daniel gave us the tools and the confidence to make it look good! And since he didnt just choreograph us straight to the music, we can use our newfound knowledge to dance to other music as well :) My mom and dad also took lessons with Daniel to help get my dad ready for the father/daughter dance. We hadnt figured out a song yet so Daniel helped us to choose a song that fit and that my dad would feel comfortable dancing to. Daniel was super flexible in letting me hop in to the end of their lessons so I could practice with my dad too.
