I did a great deal of research before deciding to move forward, and I'm very glad I chose him. Dr. Rasmussen took the time to answer my questions thoroughly and made sure I understood the procedure, recovery, potential risks, and possible side effects. He and his team were professional, attentive, and made the entire office and surgical experience as positive as possible. Within about three months, I had returned to nearly normal activity, and eight years later I have had no problems with the replacement. Most of the time, I honestly forget that I even have an artificial hip. My experience with Dr. Rasmussen was excellent, and I would gladly choose him again if I ever needed another orthopedic surgery.

My left hip had a placement issue and the implants were to big. My right hip he used a dual mobility hip implant that had metal on metal and I got chromium cobalt poisoning. I had revisions on both hips. I am on my second revision 3rd surgery on my right hip. I am in hell and I have learned so much about Total hip replacement and the implants. Do your research people. Dr Rasmussen has retired but I believe he srill does consulting. He is not a skilled surgeon he ruined my life. If I had to do it all over again I would never have had THA! Since my last fusion I've continued to suffer greatly, unable to work, do daily chores, and just live without struggling with this pain. Well, I had another MRI and EMG and another nerve study done. I followed through on everything I was told I should do by the PA's in his office and even though a different doctor. And they proceeded to shut me down regarding the pain, stiffness and tightness, to name a few issues, and then proceeded to dismiss me from their care and told me to go find a new Neurologist because they didn't think I was a good candidate for surgery. First, please go over my test results, second,suggest a couple of different Neurologist's, third, just because I might not need another fusion right away, I still deserve to be treated like I was treated before each of my surgeries!! One last thing, in 2019 when I went back to see Dr. Pingree to go over a recent MRI which was ordered by a different doctor, he proceeded to yell at me and asked me why I didn't come in to him! Okay, I guess when you are no longer a good surgical specimen everyone in that office treats you like your out of your mind and that you have no idea what is happening within your own body?!?!? As far as I go, I'm extremely in touch with the going's on within my body and expect to be treated better that just a paycheck!!! So now I'm without a Neurologist and have no idea who's good, compassionate and loyal to their patients!?!?!? I'm very sad and in complete dismay!! Good luck!!!

If it didn't work, I'd be no worse off than I was before. After the surgery, my pain level rose significantly to the point where I can no longer function. When I told him that, he said, "Well I told you there was only a 20% chance this would work." To make the lie even worse, he put on a show of great sympathy that there was such a terrible "misunderstanding." That was in 2008. Today the pain is still so overwhelming that I can't do anything. My current spinal neurosurgeon looked at my MRI and said, "I can see why you're in more pain. It's the way he put the screws into the facets." Don't even think about seeing Dr. Clawson. Just no. I'd hate for anyone else to have to suffer needlessly.
