While the orthodontist was kind and did his best, there was no way he was equipped to handle this with my very sensitive/sensory challenged son, and both visits were traumatizing and unsuccessful. Dr. Patel, and her wonderful staff - especially Maryluz who truly went above and beyond to help us-- got our son back into a trusting place, then were able to fit him and finally get the palate expander on with no trauma. We will forever be grateful because we know this goes beyond appearance - it is important for his health for a lifetime. We moved our 5 year old to the practice as well.

The first dentist we took her to was unable to get x-rays to see how severe the cavities were and said we could just drill inside to see how bad they were, to my utter disbelief! After running far away from that dentist, we found Dr. Chu through a college friend of mine who went to Columbia Dentistry. She was an orthodontist and she said that, besides her pediatric dentist husband, Dr. Chu was the one she would trust the most with her own kids. Even though it was at least a 45 min drive for us, we took her there and they got the x-rays done! He also did an amazing job fixing her cavities and she hasn't had a cavity since then! He also put on sealants on my son to prevent him from getting cavities and they worked great - no cavities for him either! Recently, we had to see a local dentist because our appt. was postponed at Dr. Chu and it just reminded us how much we SHOULD NOT think about changing dentists, even if it is to save driving time. The dentist could barely clean my son's teeth and gave up on x-rays for him within a few min of trying. Fast forward a few weeks later, Dr. Chu and his staff were able to get x-rays on both my kids in less than 20 min, at the same time! Dr. Chu is not only a great dentist, but he employs the best staff! The woman who x-rayed my son patiently and effectively convinced him to take all his bitewings. I was going to give up even before the first bitewing, but she persevered and even though the first one took a bit of time, he breezed through the rest. Dr. Chu truly cares about his patients and about teaching parents how to help guide their kids to take the best care of their teeth! If you live in Rye, there is nobody else you should go see! If you live within a 30 min drive, you should still make the trip! If you have a difficult child, even if you are 45 min to 1 hour away, you should go to him! P.S. There is a convenient parking lot, lots of kids' books, and rotating prizes in the treasure box as well as, special prizes in his office. The office is also super clean and well decorated.

All my kids go there and we've been happy with the quality of work. The only downside is that pretty regularly the paperwork side of the house is lacking. You'll get a quote for one price and then the invoice comes in and it's $400 more than you were expecting. Or you update information and they don't do it properly and you have to enter new info and dispute charges because they used your old insurance info on accident and now it's your headache to deal with as a result. The front desk team seems a bit disorganized and the charges can seem unnecessary, confusing, if you don't stay on top of things. They also try to add unnecessary procedures and costs to inflate the total bill, so make sure you question why a kid needs laughing gas for sealant or something. But once you decline they don't argue, but unless you're monitoring what they suggest, you'll get charged for some stuff you don't actually need. TLDR, the ones doing the actual work on the teeth are A+, and that's most important. The front-desk team is C- and it seems like there's a concerted effort to squeeze the max amount of charges onto every bill/procedure. But it all averages out to a B+ and we'll continue going there.

The office has a modern filtration system that is recommended to prevent the spread of covid.
