It has now been 5 months, and I am still experiencing pain in the original tooth I initially came in for. Meanwhile, my insurance has been exhausted on procedures that I did not need, and I am now left paying out of pocket for treatments that was not necessary. This situation is extremely frustrating and disappointing. The staff working there are nice, but I feel like I got scammed. I am extremely disappointed with my experience, and the situation has only worsened after I shared my honest review. Since posting my feedback, I have been receiving excessive and persistent phone calls--up to 15 times a day pressuring me to remove my review. This behavior feels inappropriate, unprofessional, and harassing. In addition to the original issue where I came in for a specific painful tooth but received treatment on other teeth that I did not need I am now also being blamed for the treatment decisions that were made and recommended by the provider. This is unacceptable. Patients rely on dental professionals to diagnose and recommend appropriate care. Shifting responsibility onto the patient after the fact, especially when the outcome has been ongoing pain and financial burden, is deeply concerning. At this point, I am not only dissatisfied with the treatment itself but also with how this situation is being handled. I expect respectful communication not pressure, blame, or repeated unwanted calls. I am documenting this behavior and will take further steps if necessary

Upon arrival for my appointment, it did not take long to be called in which I totally appreciate. Kristy, the tech, was so pleasant taking my x-rays. Lucinda, the hygienist, provided helpful education, and did a thorough cleaning. Last to be seen by Dr. Schraner was the cherry on top, she was knowledgeable, nice, and broke down what my options were to proceed. We were referred to one dentist and what he wanted to do made no sense. We found Dr. Sitki Dogus who is not is our area. We made an appointment and went for the consultation. On arrival the office is very clean. We were greeted by the Doctor's receptionist who by the way is lovely. The doctor saw my husband. Then the three of us sat down and spoke about the treatment plan. Dr. Dogus was pleased that I asked a lot of questions and was happy to answer any of my concerns. They are in network with United Healthcare and her second visit was not covered because she was either over the benefits limit or it wasn't covered. When you ask if it's covered you shouldn't be lied to. I called insurance and they told me her rates were about twice what she was supposed to charge a United Healthcare member. My daughter also told me she kept trying to push treatments that she didn't need. My wife picked this practice to support a woman owned business and if Dr Leo had been an honest person instead of a money grabbing liar she would have five additional patients. No cavities and no work needed. I had cracked a tooth prior which I knew about but didn't think it was serious. Well apparently it was and caused a small cavity. I have never been able to find a dentist who knows how to handle my particular brand of trauma. My dental health life has been a series of avoidance, emergency from neglect, traumatic fixes, and more avoidance. Rinse and repeat. Last Friday I broke a crown and that familiar panic set in. I spent the weekend researching "trauma-informed dentistry" in Westchester County. I found a few names and made some cold calls, and while they all seemed lovely, nobody seemed like a good fit for my fear. When I spoke to Carissa at Advanced Dental Care, even my wife (who heard me on the phone) noticed my voice soften and noticed the relief in my demeanor. From that first phone conversation, she already lowered my panic. They squeezed me in for an emergency consult, and despite already having two emergencies and no openings, they found a spot for me. I never once felt rushed. They treated me as if I'd been a patient with them my entire life. This morning Dr. Ashraf performed the procedure and it all went smoothly. No pain. No trauma. No fear.
