Bummer, she was sick yesterday, but I got to see Kate in a pinch! Either way, if you've known me long enough, I spend much more on hair than the average adult male. So I'm pretty particular and will not go back to a place that isn't doing what's trending and also doing a quality job. In Texas, I was fortunate enough to have the BEST lady for years and years, and have since been riding the struggle bus in Washington. **side note... wtf WA guys??? It's like a hip place for a men's haircut simply is not a thing here. Back to The Vault, they are (as the kids say) all slap and no cap . I'm legit ALWAYS the only guy in the whole place when I go. I still don't get that about the PNW, but whatever. If you are a guy and want a haircut that may or may not be decent scissor and clipper work, and is also not a style made popular within the past decade... then maybe this isn't for you. However, if you want something trendy and well done, and you are willing to spend a little dough to get it... go see literally anyone at The Vault. /JD out.

I wanted natural blending in with my undyed hair with low upkeep. I have natural red toward the ends of my hair and I asked if maybe she could match that so it would blend in, subtle. Renee understood the assignment and added dimension to my hair! She gave me a beautiful haircut with layers and a color that blends in with my natural hair. On a Friday where open until 8 and do believe I texted like 3 stating noticed them would like an appointment for haircut on Saturday and about a hour later a reply with let me check the schedule. I thought great plenty of time in day still can get appointment, and right at 8 when closing I get a text that no nothing Sat would I like another day? WHAT?? I replied nicely no thank you but I think it deserves a 2 only because at least I got a reply but is that how you do business? This totally made me irritated thinking giving appointment to others before me...idk just not a good feeling and after reading ripped a ladies hair out combing through it ...I will take it as a sign and move along to cute place down road ! I came in with a Groupon a little over two years ago. I'd had a few bleach treatments in the 3-5…read moreyears prior, and my hair has tolerated it remarkably well, remaining healthy and strong and shiny, probably because I never heat treat it. I came in for my first hair treatment since covid, so I was ~emotional and excited for a refresh. I forget the name of my stylist but ...... wow. 1- We were lightening for a balayage and despite using bleach my tips came out darker, still warm-toned (I'm undeniably cool-toned and made sure to bring it up). Also my whole head was about one (warm) color... it didn't reflect our discussion at all, and my balayage gave harsh grow out lines 2- Despite the low level of lightening, and my hair being very receptive to bleach, the treatment she applied absolutely fried my hair. It's been over two years since I had this done and I've heat styled it 0 times and dyed it 0 times, and even after cutting it much shorter the bottom 8" completely remain utterly fried. 2 years later I'm accepting that I'll probably have to cut it chin length to stop the absolutely dead hair from splitting further. Even with Olaplex, it's so outrageously tangled, split (I've had hairs with 4+ splits in them ... WTH), and dead that there's no saving it. I've never experienced anything like it.. it's just *dead*. I've only had my hair lightened in a salon because I'm so worried about this happening, and it's hilarious that the most ineffective bleach treatment I've ever had somehow was the one bleach treatment to ruin my hair. I'm about resigned to hacking it to a short bob and starting over. Oh - they also charged me extra on top of the Groupon because my hair was below my shoulders, even though it's extremely fine. Long story short, my Groupon here actually ruined my gorgeous hair, and I think it'll be about 5 years to get it back. Approaching the midpoint I think it's time to leave a review. :( Tl;dr my self-care appointment to rehab long boring hair gave me 5 years of bad hair.
