Everything else we've tried has been pretty high up there too. Service is super quick, and the guy at the front is always attentive and friendly. The space is roomy, comfortable, and has plenty of seating. The menu is pretty large, but somehow everything is spot-on every time. Definitely our favorite Hawaiian BBQ spot. We come here A LOT, and it never disappoints!

Even though the employee had yet to interact with me, I am prompted for a gratuity. The photos showcasing the menu items were not helpful. For instance, the photo for the Kalua Combo showed a chicken dish and Kalua Pork. When I was prompted for a chicken item, there were no photos. I could not select the chicken shown in the entree. Unlike the online menu which included Teriyaki Chicken, I only recall BBQ Chicken and Chicken Katsu as options. Fortunately, I opted for the Chicken Katsu. For my beverage, I chose a Hawaiian Sun canned drink. My order was served within 9 minutes. The service already did not match the gratuity. When I asked about my drink, I was pointed to the display case by the kiosk. Sadly, beverage delivery was neither one of her responsibilities nor included service. On their menu, "veggies" was included in various entrees. Veggie would have been a better description as the only vegetable was cabbage leaves. The cabbage was placed underneath the chicken and pork. The water from the cabbage caused the bottom portions of the meat to be soggy. Due to being breaded, the chicken was not as affected as the pork. Of the items served, I enjoyed the macaroni salad the most. It had plenty of flavor. The Kalua Pork which were not soaked in cabbage juice had an okay taste. Not only did the breading on Chicken Katsu provide flavor, it protected the chicken meat from being soggy. While a fork was served with my food, I had to grab a knife from the dispenser. The Chicken Katsu could have been eaten with a fork alone; the cabbage would have been difficult.

No getting drink refills. Nothing. And yet the computer screen at the cash register is always asking for tips and more tips and bigger tips which are all grossly unwarranted. The first time we went, we drove through and dodged the tips. We got large servings of the Hulu Huli chicken and the Molokai chicken. The food was very tasty but it was way too much to eat. We got some extra pineapple and with drinks the cost was over $42. Today we went back and had the small servings and that was just right. Cost was more moderate that just about $26. This time it was sitting inside. We got hit up for tips. Grrr. We declined.

Overall: 3.7/5 [dine in]…read more Looks like your average fast food joint but the service was better than expected. The cashier who helped us was really nice and gave off small family business vibes. Ekolu Plate ($18.29) + Teri Steak ($1.99): We got the Da Big Boy plate to share which comes with 3 meat choices, rice, and a side. We went with pulehu chicken, katsu chicken, and teri steak with white rice and mac salad. The katsu chicken was the best, followed by the teri steak, then the pulehu chicken. If I come back I would just get the katsu chicken plate. The teri steak was okay and the pulehu chicken was lacking flavor, though it is probably the move if you are watching what you eat. The mac salad was addicting and did not feel or taste heavy at all. They were also nice enough to let us try all their sauces including teri, katsu sauce, spicy mayo, and yeobo, but none of them really stood out. P.O.G. Juice ($2.99): They charge this as a 22 oz regular fountain drink which is a great deal. P.O.G. stands for passion fruit, orange, and guava and I am not sure if they make it in house but it was really good and one of the best juices I have had in a while.

The flavors are solid, portions are good, and that's the main reason I keep coming back. That said, today's experience was a little disappointing from a service standpoint. While waiting for our food, I noticed someone who appeared to be off-shift (or at least not in uniform) preparing a plate for herself in the kitchen area. She wasn't wearing a hairnet, and from a customer's perspective it looked unusual and raised some questions about food handling standards. The situation became even more awkward when my partner and I sat at an available table, and the same person later told us she had been sitting there because she left her drink on it. What made it confusing was that she had been in the kitchen making herself food, so it didn't really seem like the table was actively occupied. We moved, but the interaction felt a bit unprofessional. The food itself was still good, which is why I'm not leaving a lower rating. I just hope management pays a little more attention to the customer experience and how staff interactions are perceived from the dining room. I'll likely return because I enjoy the food, but today's visit left me a bit disappointed with the service side of things.

I found this place on yelp and decided to try it because of the reviews. I'm glad that I did. First of all I really liked the friendly service. They had Hawaiian music playing so I really felt at home. I let the guy at the register know that I was from Hawaii and he asked if I could taste the food before I left and give him a review. We had ordered the Aloha Family Meal. It comes with 7 scoops of rice, 4 scoops of Mac salad and 3 proteins. We had chicken katsu, kalua pork and kalbi. We paid an extra $2.99 to get the kalbi. It was worth it. I tasted everything and was happy that I chose this place to eat at. Everything was great. This meal is for 4 people but there was only 2 of us. We have a lot of leftovers for the plane trip home. I got some gravy to put on the rice and katsu. They have katsu sauce and curry sauce if you want. I tried the katsu sauce and it's a little different from Hawaii. The curry sauce that they have is a green curry. I really only like Japanese curry so I didn't try it. The rice that they use is calrose and this is what's supposed to be used. I spoke with the owner Andy and he was very friendly. He ended up giving me 2 spam music. I can't wait to eat it on the plane. If I ever come back to Dallas I will stop by as soon as I get off of the plane. People please stop by and give them a try. You won't regret it.

Overall: 3.3/5 [dine in]…read more We ordered on the kiosk and the food was ready quickly. Mixed Plate Classic ($12.99) + Seasoned Vegetables ($1.00): We chose the Honolulu Chicken, Kilauea Chicken, white rice, and seasoned vegetables. The veggies tasted like frozen veggies and the white rice came underneath the chicken, which we didn't realize until after. Had we known, we would have chosen the macaroni salad as our second side instead. The Honolulu Chicken is supposed to be garlicky but the flavors were just alright. The Kilauea Chicken was way better and had a nice little spicy kick. The white rice was also okay but a bit on the harder side. Additional Teriyaki Sauce Cup ($0.25): We ended up pouring this over the vegetables to give them some flavor. SPAM Musubi Single ($3.79): Not good. The rice was hard and they just poured teriyaki sauce on top of the spam. Skip this one. Pineapple Luau Slider Single ($3.99): It was okay but I wished it was made with Hawaiian rolls. Scoop Macaroni Salad ($0.99): Also just okay. It tastes like a black pepper macaroni salad. You can skip this one too. Mini Twist Soft Serve ($1.99): A mix of blue island wave and pineapple Dole soft serve that is fat free, dairy free, gluten free, and low calorie. This was really good and a great way to end the meal.
