This year, we finally found Bennie's! She allowed us to make custom pre-orders in January when she was still selecting flowers. She showed us her Proven Winners catalog and had great suggestions for what would grow well together. Today we picked up our baskets and they look fabulous. I can't wait to see what they look like in August! The only disappointment was that with 11 hanging baskets in the Suburban, I only had room to take home 1 more plant. So back to Bennie's we'll go to bring home some beautiful geraniums, lavender, clematis, roses, or dozens of other annuals and perennials. Everything looked extremely healthy and vigorous. However, their prices are way to high and borderline ridiculous. I picked out two decent size maples one I was told was $400 and the other I was told $750. Nothing exotic just standard maples. The same maples I have bought from Home Depot for $130 bucks. Went a mile down the road and got a beautiful Butterfly maple from Todd's Nursery. It was about 8 feet tall and 4 feet wide and only paid $125 bucks for it. So if your looking for an exotic maple and don't mind mortgaging your home to get one this is the place to go. If your not looking for an exotic and want to save a whole bunch of money I'd recommend going somewhere else. Personally I will never return to this place for a maple!

It's a great place to try some new plants with little risk. Especially if you just want some filler plants because slugs ate all the heirloom veg you grew from seed ahem. I've gotten three or four starts in three-inch pots for just two dollars before, and as the season goes on, they'll have sales and clearances on more expensive stuff, still never expensive though. Big selection, but tends to be hybrid and conventional items, which meets a lot of my needs. The parking lot is tiny so it can get crowded. I went there on the last day of the season, not knowing it was the last day, and after checking out, they told me they were letting shoppers take any plant for free on their way out! Such a cute little gesture. The lines can get long as they only have two registers max at once and some people make huge purchases that have to all be manually scanned. Not a problem, but just to be aware. Wish their season was longer as I plant for my fall harvests, but looking forward to visiting next year!
