A very welcoming, small, local owned, well, Co-op shop, for the health conscious clientele…read more Surprisingly, in these highly populated areas this type of specialty food store are few and far between. The closest I am aware are in Tacoma. So both to support local and not take as much time to travel to and fro I may just call ahead and see if what I am seeking is in stock, perfecto.

Yay! I'm a fan! I'm…read moreso happy that my eyes have been opened to the fantastic world of co-ops! I love the variety of healthy products they have. Organic hazelnut butter, vegetarian bouillon, even raw milk! The produce they get there is the best! We occasionally get produce shares, where you pay $20-$30 for whatever variety of produce is available and in season, and on the day it arrives you go and pick it up, so it's nice and fresh! Everything we have gotten has been absolutely delicious. Especially the oranges. Everyone I've met who volunteers there have been just wonderful people. Always very nice and very helpful. It's really awesome to be able to buy straight from the distributor. For example, we really like the Just Fruit bars, so we ordered a whole box in our favorite flavor. It's also really good for buying bulk food to keep for emergencies. I really feel good about shopping at Mountain Community Co-Op. They also take EBT, so if anyone you know is getting food assistance, I can't think of a better place to use the money. I would have given 5 stars, but I have witnessed the greatness of the Olympia food co-ops, which have GIANT selections in comparison. There is obviously a higher demand for co-ops in Olympia, and I hope the demand out here gets high enough so Mountain Community can get a bigger place with even more great stuff.

It's not exactly cheap but was SO satisfying with that FRESH egg. It hasn't looked right lately and I didn't get one. Finally I straight asked the clerk if they were using processed liquid eggs now and she said yes. You have got to be kidding me? The whole attraction was the REAL EGG. Tastes like ass when you use liquid commercially processed eggs. It is NOT the same. That's why McDs sells so many Egg McMuffins cuz it has a real eggs. Marlenes is really beginning to suck on a lot of fronts. I did get a grab-and-go of garlic salmon and beef meatloaf which were good. I come for the house made food. If I want crap in a can I can get it at Whole Foods and at least they still have real eggs.

I was excited about the deli, but 90% of it was cold items that needed to be heated up. They looked good, but didn't make for a good car snack. The only real grab and go thing is the sandwiches, which took about 20 min to make. I also felt like the reviews overhyped the gluten free baked goods. I only saw gluten free chocolate cupcakes, but had hoped for more. A good, clean stop for anyone who needs some quality food without the stress of a full grocery store, but didn't meet my needs as well as I had hoped. If I needed a fabulous dish to bring home and heat up, this would have been perfect.

I would almost call it serendipity, but I was certainly searching for something, I just didn't know exactly what. I had a day off and had spent the earlier part of it wandering, looking for any remaining independent produce stands, butcher shops, or just something that felt like it would nourish and heal me because I had been feeling....well? physically, emotionally, existentially, and psychologically, like absolute crap. Historically I've spent years independently studying nutrition and biochemistry, herbalism and traditional medicine, but over the years I'd strayed from those things and lost my way. All this to say I may have forgotten some things but I recognize when someone else knows their stuff. I wandered into Sunshine Corners, originally for a good sandwich and maybe some produce. What immediately struck me was how comforting this place was, and how much it felt like the old school apothecaries or coop's before they became adulterated by mainstream capitalist influences. Stay with me here. I overheard Tony talking to one of the people at the front desk and immediately realized "ok, that guy knows his stuff". Meekly, when he had a moment, I walked over to him and basically, in a sort of desperate manner, laid out my litany of aches and pains and mysterious ailments, expecting an abrupt hand waving answer. That is not what I got. Tony spent what might have been somewhere between 45 minutes and an hour with me, patiently asking me questions and pulling out reference literature. He recognized things in me that no one else had been able to see, and pointed me in a direction that has allowed me to focus on actually getting better rather than just collapsing in frustration. Tony, if you're reading this, the time you spent helping me meant so much to me. Your years of wisdom made a huge impact, but more importantly, your humanity.

They carry about 80 brands/flavors of low to no sugar protein powders, protein bars (try the VitaLady.com brand!), easily absorbable vites, some energy drinks, SugarFree DaVinci syrups. Prices much better than GNC, closer and quicker to run by than internet, great selection. Internet order or walk-in. www.VitaLady.com

Excellent source of vitamins and supplements, especially for those having had weight loss surgery…read more Post WLS vitamin and supplement needs are somewhat unique, requiring forms and doses that aren't very easy to find in many cases. Needs also vary between type of WLS (RNY vs DS vs GS vs Lap Band, etc) and Vitalady has everything needed for all types of WLS. Some of the items they carry I've not been able to find anywhere else, either in store or online. They also have excellent suggestions regarding regimen and are happy to offer suggestions for any questions or specific needs you might have. I've found their prices to be good overall, some of the more common items I've found to be a bit higher than other sources, however they can't be beat for the harder to find items, both their selection and prices are unbeatable in that department. For those that like the convenience or want to take the guesswork out of it, just order the package for your specific surgery type and you're all set. Their shipping has always been prompt and merchandise arrived in perfect condition. I highly recommend checking them out and giving their products a try.

However, I've noticed that this particular location has been consistently lacking in customer service--especially in the bakery department. This year alone, I've visited the bakery four or five times, and each time the experience has been disappointing. No one acknowledges customers, there's little to no eye contact, and the staff often appear disengaged or busy with tasks in the back of the section. When I do finally get someone's attention, the interaction feels rushed or noticeably unwelcoming. On one occasion, after waiting about 15minutes for my cake to be packaged, the staff member simply set it aside without letting me know it was ready. Situations like this have made it the worst bakery customer service I've experienced at any Whole Foods. I understand they have other responsibilities to manage, but a consistent lack of basic courtesy is concerning. On the other hand, I want to highlight the meat and fish department--they are always friendly, attentive, and hardworking, and it truly makes a difference.
