We have 3 biracial daughters with that biracial curly hair...slim pickings in Yuma as to who knows what to handle that. We have our favorites at the school. My wife is also satisfied with her hair, and I go there for cuts as well..kudos to Stephanie for doing a great job. Also, mani-pedies. Walk-ins are available but it's best to make an appointment. Students do the work, the instructors oversee but I think they do hair, too. The service is 8 out of 10 in my book; affordable cuts and a friendly staff backed by knowledgeable instructors. Decent parking, located downtown Yuma... Worth a look....and a haircut...those are my 2 bits, (see what I did there?).

The Yuma School of Beauty is great place to get all of your cosmetology needs in one place…read more Remember, this is a "SCHOOL" of beauty and the students are practicing their skills, so if you do decide to visit the school for some cosmetic services be polite and patient. The students do an excellent job in paying attention to details required to doing your hair, or other services being obtained, under the direct supervision of a certified instructor too. In the event that you or the student is not clear on anything they are polite and will require a supervisor's assistance for proper guidance in providing you with the best care possible. You are never left alone for any student to practice without knowing what they are doing. Because this is a school the prices found here at the Yuma School of Beauty are very reasonable. Most of the time, their busiest season is during the winter season; when Yuma has many winter visitors coming to avoid the freezing temperatures from the northern parts of the world. It is always recommended that you call them in advance to schedule yourself an appointment so they can accommodate you adequately. There has been a few times where I've simply done a walk-in and have been told that I couldn't get services because they were so busy with grad students, prom students, and or other big events taking place in Yuma that they get booked for. So again, give them a telephone call and schedule an appointment for services. I usually get my hair cuts done at this place and I've had my experiences from both freshmen and senior students practicing their skills on me. I never been disappointed with a hair cut that did not come out well. But again, if it were to happen, it's okay, I will live and I know that the student was trying their best. If you are one of those folks that seeks perfection or will flip if a 16th of an inch went missing from your bangs, or something like that, go elsewhere. No student, supervisor, or client in there wants to feel your negative vibe in there. Oh, and don't be cheap either. Although not required, a little tip for the students services is always greatly appreciated! By the way, there is ample parking either on the street in front of the school or the school does have a decent sized parking lot on its west side of the building that you can park for free.

The staff has always gone above and beyond, and some of the same amazing teachers are still here (which says so much!). They don't just watch the kids, they truly care for them. They are extra communicative and nip any issues in the bud by bringing them to your attention immediately. Each week is well organized and parents know in advance if anything needs to be brought in from home and what will be taught each day. The educational aspect is also top notch. My daughter went here for a year (from 2 to 3). At 3 years and 3 months of age she can count to 100, do addition with the number 1, i.e. 3 + 1 = 4, correctly identify numbers 1-10 by sight, correctly identify most of the letters in the alphabet by sight, write a handful of them without any help and much more. There is an emphasis and learning but also lots of playtime and fun activities. I highly recommend this preschool.

Flex It Academy came into our lives at just the right time…read more Our son was in the local public school system, and as he progressed into the middle school system, it became blaringly obvious that the public school system where he was enrolled was not properly equipped to teach him to his individual learning style. And instead of the school system enhancing their individual education programs with new approaches and educating their staff on how to teach to the individual, they adopted a "babysitting" approach - meaning, when our son felt overwhelmed in the all-inclusive classroom settings, they would send him away, so as not to disrupt the other students, to a classroom equipped with electronic devices for him to play or they would send him to a room where he could nap. My son quickly learned how to manipulate their system so that he would not have to spend any time in the classroom, which resulted in him not truly learning the basics. When we found Flex It Academy - the staff immediately embraced our son. Not only was his new learning environment catering to his specific learning needs, when I requested the staff work with him one-on-one on his reading skills, they quickly adopted a plan and implemented it. Their approach is kind, loving, supportive, empathic, and they are truly there for each of their students as well as the families. I am so very grateful for the Flex It Academy Learning Centers and highly recommend them to any family that has a child who requires individual learning styles.

They will actually LISTEN to the parents and not try to fit your child into a certain classification. I think being a private school, they are more willing to go out of their way to use whatever resources available to help the students grow and thrive!!! Plus they aren't restricted by over bearing government regulations From what I know, the founder had autistic relatives and had a passion for EVERY child in their care to be treated with the same love and tenderness we would our own child I love the small school climate and that the children aren't just a number. Plus, the school does all the paperwork for the funding to cover tuition costs!!!! So even though it's private, families don't pay a dime Highly recommend

The building was old and typical, bar, eating area, pool table, military things hanging on the walls, etc. I ordered beer for the wife, and a soda for me (designated driver) while we waited for friends to arrive and karaoke to begin. It was an older crowd, didn't matter though as most were friendly and inviting. The lady running the karaoke that night (forgot her name) ran a good show as the microphone sounded warm and full, showcasing the vocals more than the music. Overall a good time (I loved the popcorn machine) and we'll probably be back again.

The way to view a movie harkens back to days of old; as in Drive-In movies! Using a huge inflatable screen, a rented receiver (to listen to the desired radio station in your car) and enough space to hold the event; a good time (or something completely different) is destined to happen. Yes, the movies are second run. But the movie is free, so I couldn't complain. We rounded up the family and had a good time. The staff running the show keeps everyone Social - Distanced apart while in their vehicles. On the military base, they run a movie every other week (weather permitting). I suggest checking online and/or calling ahead to see if a movie is playing that week. For something to do, it's not a bad deal. Worth looking into!
