I've been dancing with Pam for years now and it's always proven to be a one-of-a-kind experience. It can be hard to find adult dance classes at the best of times, but Pam's class is easily approachable for both beginning and experienced dancers alike. The choreography is original and generally designed with the goal of being accessible while pulling you out of your comfort zone. What's also great about DT overall is that the dance styles themselves are also highly varied. Even though we are dancing to relatively popular music, over the years we have danced Broadway, Jazz, Hip Hop, Salsa, and a whole bunch of other mixed and blends that I can't even remember anymore. I have heard about this Dance Therapy class for a while, but I did not take it until October. Boy, have I been missing out! Pam taught a hip-hop routine that was fun, challenging, and a wonderful workout. It had a nice combination of hard and not-so-hard choreography that left me wanting more. I left the class feeling energized and full of endorphins. It did not matter that I was a super klutz, what's important is that I danced for literally hours, moved all parts of my body, had a blast--and felt skinnier and stronger the next day. Thanks, Pam! Dance Therapy is just that! Complete conditioning for the body! Its a fun, moving, and energetic class with crazy cool music that gets you bending, shaking, moving and singing. I had just gone through some rough patches and was looking to go back to doing some of the activities that I used to be passionate about and came upon this MeetUp group called Dance Therapy. I was so glad that I checked out the videos on their website, because I came across this performance to the song "Friend Like Me" and was instantly uplifted by the upbeat music and cheerful spirit coming from the performers--I thought to myself if it's this entertaining just to watch it, imagine being a part of it! So I took a trial class and right away I found the instructor (Pam) to be one of a kind; she knew just the best way to teach the class so that not only nobody feels left out and/or overwhelmed, and each person also gets a "personalized" level of attention so we each know what we can improve upon. She is patient, thorough, detailed yet concise, and most importantly passionate and personable. Just having been in several of her classes, I could already tell how devoted she is by the time and effort she is willing to spend outside of class planning for performances, reviewing class videos, and going over any questions we may have with us. What I enjoy most of all is her spirit, her energy and passion inspire me; you can easily tell her love of dancing in the way she moves--there's no holding back. She keeps things fun and emphasizes that we should not feel pressured but rather do and learn at a level/pace with which we feel comfortable. I absolutely enjoy every single class, so give it a try because even if you don't like/get all the choreography (which I highly doubt), you'll still end up getting a great workout! read more

Although rhythm is difficult for me, I've always wanted to dance. And here I found just the right class. I am amazed to discover that I do have some grooves! Pam is a wonderful teacher, patient and attentive to her students, especially with beginners like me. Her instruction is clear and easy to follow. She doesn't mind going over the steps before class starts, and can break it down into sections. Her choreography is lively, energetic, and cool! It's a great way to exercise and have fun at the same time. I improve strength and flexibility with all the movement and stretching. For some time now I have been looking for a dance'exercise class that strikes a proper balance between dance and exercise i.e. not just a series of repetitive steps one can master in their sleep. What goes on in this class is very similar to what I used to experience when I took dance classes in the city from professional choreographers. First of all, I can tell Pam has spent hours of outside time preparing for this class. Unlike some community dance classes I have tried out where they are actually using class time to "figure out" some choreography....Pam has her choreography for the entire dance completely finished and just makes us move-move-move to learn what she has already worked out ahead of time. Like a REAL dance class, Pam teaches larger sections of a dance, then moves on to another larger section of a dance so that the brain as well as the body is challenged. When one hour has passed by we have already learned half a dance or close to 2 minutes of music. This makes for a very interesting class that keeps us dancing with little time wasted stopping and standing. Anyone would feel comfortable in this class as Pam continually mentions to make modifications where necessary for those who cannot physically do certain moves. I love that it is not too early....9:45 gives me time to wake up without an alarm, have my coffee, and drive to class in time to dance. read more
