I highly recommend Dance Center of San Antonio, centrally located near North Star Mall. Over the…read morepast two years, my daughter has grown tremendously in her dance skills, confidence, and discipline. As a Type 1 diabetic, we truly appreciate how caring, attentive, and well-trained the staff is with students of all ages and needs. As a homeschool family, the studio has given my daughter a beautiful sisterhood and lifelong friendships. Their annual Nutcracker performance is amazing, and their musical theatre productions twice a year provide incredible opportunities. The summer intensives are excellent, with so much learning from guest teachers and faculty. My daughter is especially excited for her role in Don Quixote this summer -- we are so grateful to be part of this wonderful studio

There have been issues for a long time but they didn't want to leave their friends and we held out much too long but we finally got out. This is written anonymously because she is vindictive and will try to ruin people. The owner and the head employee here are manipulative and mentally abusive. It is also physically unhealthy because the super thin anorexic look is encouraged. Body shaming and bullying occurs. There is encouragment of low calorie and strict eating to keep the skinny "ballet" look. It is such a toxic environment. A lot of hype is shared about "top school" and competition winners but it's deceiving. The study they keep quoting is based off only schools who compete at YAGP so its not accurate. She has had absolutely no dancers make it professionally as a ballet dancer yet. Not one. All her promising dancers from the past either left or got burned out and stopped dancing. She doesn't even let the dancers attend summer intensive other places unless she approves the choice. She never used to at all but starting losing people over it. So now her favorites are allowed to go to summer intensive somewhere if she approves it. Her current dancers win at the competitions because she basically bribes the judges. And because she brings so many dancers to the competitions they reward her. There is nothing fair about it. If you aren't a favorite you get ignored or even belittled. Daily class time is used for her favorites to work on their competition pieces instead of teaching a typical technique class. Of course a dancer will do well at competition if all they do is work on one or two pieces every day for years. She also can't keep good teachers because she is so hard to work for. The married teacher couple that finally were able to leave had been threatened with losing their work visas. And families are afraid to speak up and ask questions. So are dancers. She and her husband have connections so families are afraid of the backlash. She also threatens people with legal action. Dancers who have left have had to correct bad technique that she taught. So many families know what it is truly like here but won't speak up. The ones actively supporting this place and saying its great are doing so because they want their child to be a star. You'll see reviews posted to counter any negative reviews but that's because she makes people write them. Some are written by her employees or family members. All those news pieces or articles making it look like a great place are paid for and orchestrated by the owners. The kids who choose to stay do so because they are either a favorite, win at competitions or they want to stay for friends or performances. But is it worth the damage it can cause? Please if you want to protect your childs mental, emotional and dance health stay away from here!

We decided to take a chance and try it out. Nestled in a business center along with a closed restaurant and a dollar store is this awesome dance studio. Since my daughter has started coming here I've noticed her confidence level go up, she is so happy getting out all that energy from her system and applying it to flexibility and strength training in tumbling, jazz, ballet, and tap dance. She loves it so so much. She is always in the hands of professionals and trainers that fill their class with good music, moves that will warm her up for a successful performance at the end of the year. At the end of the year they show different performances that they prepare for during the year to end in a grand finale! So excited to see my little girl blossom and become strong & athletic. Can't wait to see her perform at the end of the year! I think it's every ballet parents' dream come true. Feels so rewarding! If you want your child to excel in flexibility & strength, it doesn't matter if they were born for it or they have difficulty in it, this is the place to go. Check it out, the first class trial is free! Also if your friends kids join, you get a discount for referring. Lots of benefits for joining. It's a win win if you ask me.

I've had gel pedis, dip manis and a Green "Cat-Eye" Gel and Dip Powder Mani in December and Gold "Cat Eye" Gel Mani on Wednesday. Shay has even done freehand flower designs on my big toes in Aug. & Sept. 2025. I saw her own nails and how creatively designed they were so we chatted about her journey. She already had done mani and pedis on her friends and family so she was already skilled as far as nail art. She just had to get the education, learn more techniques and instruction so she could get licensed. Shay is always friendly, engaging, patient and listens to the client's desires. She is willing to work with you and make helpful suggestions based on your choices and lifestyle. She's even informed me of what a licensed manicurist can and cannot do. Miss Whitney, her instructor has been a helpful guide whenever Shay's had a question. Miss Whitney always says "Come back again!" For all services, Shay will go thru a checklist and pricing to verify you are aware of what you are having done up front. You have to sign the Consent Form w/disclosures and your signatures. For the Basic pedis, I've had the gel polish which is finished with a Green Tea scrub, peach lotion and cuticle oil. For the dip Manis, I've had the standard until I had the Cat Eye technique in Dec 2025. Shay had a small green colored oval area on her nails and I asked her about it so she worked with me on the base Green color and top Green color to create the effect. The polish has magnetic pieces that creates a 3-D effect when you use a magnet after applying the polish, then finishing with UV light. I never knew about this and thought it was pretty cool esp. when I'd turn my finger. I had the #40 Gold Cat Eye Gel polish last Wednesday without the dip so I can give my nail beds a break from the dip powders. Shay helped in the consultation and the price point turned out even less to get the effect I wanted to achieve. I only have one other appointment before she graduates but already follow her on IG. She has lots of uploaded pretty nail designs! Wishing her the best of luck!

They have merch such as journals, clothing, water bottles ballet shoes, and other items for sale in the front entry. The back area looks like the practice studio and they have one room in the front where they seated about 50 people to watch a free show of highlights from their current season. I love that they opened it to everyone and a few community groups of adults were attending at the time. What a sweet way to allow everyone to be able to enjoy ballet. The dancers were incredible and so skilled!

I wish that I could recommend this ballet school but after a year and a half with this…read moreorganization, I am so underwhelmed and overly frustrated with the lack of transparency and common sense that runs this business, I cannot. My daughter loves ballet and it really doesn't take much to make her happy but both times she had a ballet teacher that suddenly disappeared and saddened her immensely. Speaking from a business standpoint, this ballet school is very poorly run and seems to have significant issues keeping teachers, running itself consistently, and being financially honest. In the time that we've gone here, these are the things I took away: 1- Financially fraudulent. We've had to fight to keep money in our pocket as faulty contracts and constant changes seem to give the director the impression she is entitled to money that is not hers to take or keep. This is a big one for me and honestly should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. 2- Staffing seems to be an issue. Both teachers that my daughter was attached to disappeared without warning and no explanation. This was devastating to my daughter both times and showed the lack of care or accountability this ballet studio has towards its students. Other students or Danielle, the director, took over the classes, which wasn't received well by the girls. Parents expressed the same sentiments and agreed that this was the main reason they were going elsewhere for their kids. 3- Lack of organization and communication: we participated in one production and it will be our last with San Antonio Ballet school. Along with many other parents, we were consistently frustrated with the lack of information and direction throughout the process. Shocked at the financial expectations and chaotic environment that spoke only of complete inexperience or dismissive attitudes. With young dancers, it's natural to be cautious and inquisitive about the process and the safety of your child. These questions were treated like they were idiotic and unnecessary which led many of us parents to share as much information in the hopes of helping each other. It was insane and the end result was that most parents were looking to new ballet studios or weren't participating in another production. There were few volunteers involved in the production that were family or friends of the director or parents of ballet students. Needless to say, some parents directly told me they were not participating because of previous bad experiences. This spoke again of a poorly run business. For me, this is all the reasons I need to seek ballet elsewhere. It seemed to me that while Danielle was an apt teacher, she should leave the actual running of the business to someone with more integrity and experience. Her biggest piece of clout also seems to be her belief that her studio is the most inclusive, while I think she has more integral problems to worry about.
