As an awkward beginner, I can't praise Jen's patience and enthusiasm enough as we repeat again and again until I learn the steps. My first lessons include rumba, swing and hustle with a taste of tango and bachata, which Jen has made into enjoyable fun for me as I learn. A benefit I hadn't realized is that Jen and Joe host at area dances, so I can gain more experience on the dance floors with fun people. And, I want to add how nice all those dancers are, making me feel welcome even as a beginner. I'm glad I found Jen and Joe and started, and I recommend them to everyone who wants to learn.

Let me stress here, I knew zip, zero, nada about guitars, but I wanted to learn how to play. So.... When I first found Elite Academy I was on the fence about whether to learn to play the guitar on my own by watching YouTube videos, or go for in-person lessons. (which I was quite fearful of doing due to covid and living with an extremely high-risk person) I'd decided to start out with just a couple of in-person lessons, to at least get a semi-proper start with a bit of feedback, and then mainly stick with YouTube. I NOW realize how completely naive that idea was, assuming you truly want to learn that is! Anyway, I talked to Damian, who is the director of Elite Academy, and after discussing my concerns with in-person instruction he told me online lessons would likely be the best fit for me personally. (I'm sure he quickly realized I was over-the-top paranoid about in-person lessons. Lol) I thought I'd give online lessons a try, even though I honestly assumed "online lessons" wouldn't be as beneficial as in-person lessons. WRONG! What occurred next changed EVERYTHING!! We set up a time for an online lesson. Prior to my 1st lesson Damian sent me a few of his beginner videos to watch as well as other info/charts to look over. The information was presented in a crystal clear fashion, it was easy to understand and retain, and it became instantly clear to me that a TREMENDOUS amount of time and thought had been put into his lesson plans, and they were structured in a way that was absolutely intentional in helping a beginner learn in the easiest and fastest way possible. After the first lesson I knew without a doubt I'd accidentally hit the jackpot in finding Damian! I'm now 2 months in with weekly online lessons and I can't believe what I've learned in such a short time. I'm beyond impressed with Damian as an instructor! If you are searching for a guitar instructor, all I can say is give Damian a call and take a lesson or two. His fees are extremely reasonable and it's worth a try. If you aren't happy then move on, but I'm 100% sure after a lesson or two you won't be going anywhere! (because then you'll know what I already found out... JACKPOT!! Lol)

They were doing a competition and we went to support our friend who is a paraplegic dancing at this event. It was a $20 ticket. Seating was pretty tight for us. It said it was offering lunch. They offered three types of chicken tenders from Publix that I carried in because the people were struggling to get the food inside numerous salads and charcuterie. There was no knives for the cheese there were no knives for the chicken, which was ice cold, it was fried chicken tenders three different kinds ice cold that you had to eat with your hands. This is probably not something. The ballroom is known for this event that was held at the ballroom. It's very dated looking with the white Christmas lights and the ugly curtains. It really needs a facelift if they want to bring in premier dancers that's what I think as a spectator.

It was not what I expected. There was a group of about 16-18 people there to learn Basic Cha Cha…read more If you've never taken ballroom dance lessons before, you might be in trouble. Marta, the instructor illustrates the steps in front of the group and then the group tries to repeat the steps to music. If you're not immediately catching on, that's too bad because you won't be shown what you're doing wrong - even if you ask for help! The instructor never attempts to intercede in the group to help those who need a little extra help in learning how to move correctly. The corrections are directed at the whole group with things like "Some of you are doing this. That's wrong. It should go like this". Then everyone switches partners in a rotating fashion so if you went there to learn to dance with your wife, you do so after you've danced with 8 or 9 other partners in the rotation. You could go the whole hour doing something wrong and never get help to correct your mistakes. A simple demonstration to show you how to do the steps right would go a long way. If you're like me, never having any structured dance lessons, then you'll never learn the dance and the group will proceed leaving you behind to catch up on your own. A practice session was scheduled for one night but the instructor doesn't attend these. You're on your own among other people who are taking different classes and practicing to their music. You have to be aggressive and insist they play some music for your dance; otherwise you'll be attempting to cha cha to swing or two step or whatever happens to be playing. The real complaint is that as you rotate among different partners and you're confused on some moves, it's somewhat humiliating and embarrassing as you attempt to lead a partner and foul it up for both of you. I decided to look for better instruction elsewhere and dropped out of the class. And by the way, there are no refunds.

This review is based off of personal experience with my daughter being enrolled in the 3-5 year old…read moresummer class. My rating is based off the fact that the studio did not work out for us for my daughter is a "high spirited" independent sweetheart who cannot sit still all the time at this age. I enrolled my daughter with no experience in the dance community. She has started dancing on her own at home and expressed her desire to be a ballerina. When I heard of the opportunity here at Legacy(and with research) I thought it would be a good beginning and "assumed" that at this age level the lesson would be relaxed and more fun than leaning more toward "proper dance". This was proven wrong for my daughter didn't complete this program and here is why: 1) On the third lesson I had to accompany her into the dance room because she all of the sudden didn't want to go this is where "we" were told by the owner/instructor "X if you don't be quiet you will have to leave" my daughter was informed this while I was trying to convince her in a lower voice sitting in my lap that she should join her "friends" that they were having so much fun. So, in turn she was basically telling both of us that we should hush or leave. While in this room I found out that it was super quiet with the expectations that the 3-5 year olds should sit still and be quiet. I finally decided this is not a good fit for us and left. A week or two prior to my incident the owner/instructor told a mom in front of everyone in a stern voice, whose daughter was leaving and entering the dance room similar to the other girls but more, that she [the mom] was the problem and to step away from the glass doors.I am a rule follower so I bought the suggested attire from the local dance store. Some of the kids were not up to dance attire code but were allowed to stay. Basically, after spending $150ish I found out the hard way that this was not the studio for us. I should have outfitted my daughter in cute Target attire. And perhaps even be one of the "rule breakers" and allow her to wear a skirt. The description for the class, in my opinion, should say what personality fits best for this class so parents/caregivers can make a more informed decision and not loose money. Again I am new and didn't think I needed to ask what personality would be best for the class for it was for younger kids. To end on a high note, the studio is clean with a viewing area in the waiting room via TV and through 2 glass doors with a water fountain.
