My daughter's regular teacher was great but she got a substitute one day and she was absolutely horrible with the little ones. Someone stole my 3 year old daughter's tap shoes while she was in class and I had to buy another pair instead of the school accepting responsibility for it. The end of year dance recital is rip-off. 100 for a costume, 80 for a participation fee, 25-30 per ticket, and they tell parents about this 2 weeks before the recital. Let my daughter stay in for the entire class year but next year she went elsewhere

Mark Phillips and Ryan Phillips were both terrific. The one we voted for did indeed win, but they were both great! The Saturday we were there, there were two performances. We chose the 5pm one. It's a fast-paced show that kept us laughing, intrigued and highly entertained. A very fun, wonderful way to spend entertainment dollars in DC. Not a bad seat in the house! This is downstairs in the historic Mayflower Hotel, nice and close to the Farragut North Metro Stop. Definitely appropriate for all ages. Highly recommend!

I recognize that the Magic Duel takes huge pride in 5 star reviews on Yelp, which I deeply respect. But I did wish that we had seen the show in a different venue. I am no stage expert, but lights and sound do matter a lot in delivery of a magic show for a skeptic like me, going because the significant other loves magic shows. With better lighting, things would have been more "magical" (thinking bottles.) I was also surprised that a bubble artist, as good as she was in her profession, was considered a magician. After some quick research, you will end up at Magic Duel in this genre, so please go to Dupont or Georgetown.

The Tito Peunte Jr concert was phenomenal. Mambo is in his blood. It was an hour and thirty minutes of non stop Afro Cuban jazz. I'm talking salsa and mambo! I've been to Cuba and the scene was absolutely incredible with great acoustics and of course perfection on the timbales that could only come from the late Tito Puente's (17 time Grammy Award winner) son. This was not just a concert, this was a centennial celebration of the 100th year of Tito Puente's world renown influence. I took my 7 year old son to see the play "A Christmas Carol." We thoroughly enjoyed the show. It was geared to third through fifth graders and was just the right length. Very affordable as well...our tickets were $8.00 each. I loved the theater itself. It sort of had an old fashioned feel but had been updated where needed. There didn't seem to be a bad seat in the whole place and we were able to sit in the second row which was really fun. The seats were comfortable and positioned so they weren't one right behind another but staggered so that you could see through the heads of the people in front of you. The building was very easily accessible and had plenty of parking. I will definitely keep an eye on upcoming shows of interest to us and look forward to coming back again soon.

When they let out a class, there's no supervision. Kids are free to run through their the parking lot, looking for their ride, which I found appalling. In addition, the owner doesn't pay her rent. She still owes her contractor for the build out of her studio and she has a habit of stiffing other landlords in the past as well. Not anyone I'd care to give my hard earned money to.

There were some places that weren't weekly, some that were just for kids... and then this studio... they have something for everyone. It's located right off of Forbes Blvd, and when classes are in session, that little parking lot gets really busy! When you first enter, you just kind of see folks sitting all over the place, and it's kind of hard to tell who works there and who doesn't -- but everyone is friendly! When I first came and said what I was there for, they said to settle on in and that the previous class was still going on. Once it was over, we were gestured in. The first several classes I've done all started about 10 minutes late. The corridor to get to each studio is a bit tight -- I'm fine with it, but I could see certain people get claustrophobic. The teacher and content of the class are great -- one key difference with this one compared to others I've taken is that they're always working towards a recital. So some weeks the routines are repeated and built upon, versus it being changed up every week like I'm used to. The dance academy updates primarily come through a Facebook group -- I signed up for texts, but I don't get those quite as consistently. The fees are pretty reasonable to me, and as I said there's something for everyone. The website pics and even the group (titled Parents) almost make it feel like the academy is just for kids, which can be a bit misleading. If you're in the area, I recommend checking them out!
