Mr. David is silly and friendly, but he still pushes the kids to make sure they become stronger dancers. We do the rec dancing, not competition. At other dance schools, I have felt like the focus is solely on the competition teams, with the rest of the kids just serving as filler. Never the case at Dance Connection! I've also been impressed with how the school began to provide high-end virtual opportunities and socially distant summer camps when this became necessary. They adjusted the common areas in the studio and the classrooms to allow for proper distancing, too. Mr. David worked with the parents to explain the new measures and made sure we feel comfortable. We'll be a Dance Connection family for years to come.

Every teacher she has danced with has not only been knowledgeable and accomplished but also fun and kind which is very important for cultivating a love of ballet and also the desire to push on. David the owner, an accomplished dancer and also a teacher there always offers a welcoming smile to the children and is always available to the parents. He certainly has a way with children. I remember when my daughter started dancing at his school she hated her tights and refused to go to class filling the waiting area with her screams. David was so gentle and reassuring and managed to get her to pull it together and join the class! All the staff are wonderful as are the families that that share my love of this school. I also want to compliment David and his staff for pushing on despite the COVID pandemic. Dance has never stopped for my daughter. Virtual classes went off without a moments hesitation when the world shut down. He put together a virtual recital in front of a green screen last June! Pretty amazing! Classes picked up on schedule this September. Small classes, social distancing and masks but the dance goes on. I'm so grateful for this little bit of normal and the smile on my daughter's face when she takes off that mask after class and tells me "Mommy that was fun!"

Peejan you are so talented and very special. I am so lucky to have you as my primary pro. Vlad thanks for being my "buddy pro". I cannot believe that I have someone of your caliber teaching me. The entire staff is amazing and they work as a cohesive team which is wonderful to see. Alex, Anya, Yubin, Stephanie, Samantha, Sebastian, Juliana, I appreciate all your hard work and your kindness Tara, , one of the owners, is a class act and makes sure that each student has a rewarding experience (and is an AMAZING dancer)..Thank you all! It is hard to fully explain how Fred Astaire Princeton has been the vehicle for my physical,…read moreemotional and spiritual growth. The staff are not only beautiful dancers and skilled teachers, but they are beautiful souls, as well. They come to the studio (I won't say "work," as it is "play" for them!) as their best selves, and offer their presence, attention and knowledge, a generosity of spirit, to their students. I am a fan of the private lessons, which is their primary vehicle of teaching, where, as a 'follower,' I get held and led as if I am a precious gem. For those of us who have accumulated a collection of bumps and bruises along the journey called 'life,' it can be very healing! I find it so! They are devoted to making sure that their students have a great experience. So, dancing at Fred Astaire feeds me emotionally and spiritually, as well as providing an incredible vehicle for my physical well-being. I don't even notice that I am getting exercise while I dance across the floor--there is too much joy! Yes, learning to dance opens my heart to joy, which is the best medicine for my health! I had a sadness throughout my life that dance had not been a larger part of it. No one is more surprised than me to discover that I am blossoming as a dancer in my mid-sixties! I can't imagine a better food for my soul than this. This is a well run studio, and I encourage anyone who thinks they might benefit like I have, to find a way to fit as little or as much as they are able to into their lives. I'm ecstatic that I did.

I kept stumbling with my turns so he went out of his way during the lesson to work with me on them. After an hour lesson, the dance floor opened up until 2am to a spicy mix of salsa and bachata songs! As a first-timer I felt shy and sat in a corner but everyone (even the elite) were so friendly and continually asked me to dance (and taught me steps along the way)! I tend to be very uncomfortable when it comes to physical contact but dancing with everyone felt rather natural! Such a lovely experience- If I lived in or near Philly I would take classes here in a heartbeat. Will definitely be back for more salsa nights!

Our instructor was pleasant and patient, and we had a great time learning basic salsa moves!! The other people in the drop-in class were two other couples...so be warned as that generally seems the norm for classes. I think the academy also does "salsa parties" which are more free practice sessions. The time flew by, and we were encouraged to videotape the last 5 minutes of the instructor giving an overview of what we had learned, so we could come back after practicing on our own! Will definitely come back to use up the rest of our livingsocials....hopefully the classes aren't too repetitive so we'll see!

TDN you are a challenge…read more As the parent of a student who went there for three years, I've had ups and downs with this place. The instructors seem to truly care, but our last two lacked discipline and classes can sometimes get rowdy. Quieter children, like mine, are in the shadow of louder kids who do a lot of whatever they want. Many guardians hang out in the lobby, but unlike other dance studios, there is no attempt to make a community of parents. The lobby in this location could also use a good deep clean. Songs and routines are fun and the kids are in to them. This is the good stuff. The location is also killer if you live in Lawrenceville. The recitals here are mixed. In some ways they are very fun. The first one we had at TCNJ went off without a hitch. The last two haven't been as smooth, and the practice for this last recital was a joke. They were incredibly disorganized, there was nothing for young kids to do backstage, and my wife waited for a while for a parent to show up. None did so she just hung out backstage for pretty much the whole rehearsal. At the end of the day, this is a decent dance studio. If you're not taking things too seriously and you're looking for a convenient location, you probably won't go wrong here. That said, we've had experience with a number of places, and this one wasn't exactly on the top of our list. As convenient as it was, we ultimately decided not to come back. This may or may not end up working for you.
