I booked a moms' night out for my friends and I at the Pole Barn. We did the 2 hour aerial silks…read moreand pole dancing class. Rochelle was so welcoming and friendly when we got to the studio. She got us situated with all of our stuff, including the pitcher of margaritas I brought, and made sure we were feeling comfortable. We started off with the aerial silks which had us all dying laughing as we learned how to stand, sit, and hang upside down in the silks. Pro tip - definitely stretch before taking this class! I pulled a hamstring and had to stretch it out before proceeding. Then we moved on to the pole dancing which was also hilarious as we tried to dance, spin, and climb the stripper poles. Rochelle was a great teacher the whole time constantly reminding us "No THRUSTING!" on the poles. Rochelle even let us hang out a bit after class and finish our margaritas in the lounge area. The next day we were all comparing our various sore spots and bruises. We definitely worked muscles we didn't know we had! All in all, it was a fabulous way to spend an evening with friends.

They scheduled two parties back to back, with no buffer, so shoes were piled on top of shoes, and we had to wait for one party to exit (past our scheduled start time) in order to start our party. 2. We had to share poles/silks because there were too many people. It would have been nice to know how many poles/silks they had beforehand, or if they could split the group in two so we wouldn't have to wait to take a turn. Check-in/waiver signing was super easy and quick. You have to pay a deposit for 8 people ($37.50 per person) to book your class, everyone above and beyond that number can pay separately at the time of the class. Tips are appreciated, they can be paid in cash or along with the class fee. Pole dancing and aerial skills, the perfect bachelorette party. Even if you don't have any sort of athletic skillz, and are not in shape, the private party is still completely do-able. They are sure to do basics, nothing complicated, that lets people of all fitness levels enjoy at least a little bit of the class. The instructor, Zecky was very patient with my group of rowdy ladies. She made every effort to make sure everyone was being safe while having loads of fun, and corralled everyone in poses for some fun pictures. I would highly recommend having a private party here!

They are all expected to achieve. We love the emphasis on respect and also how Mr. Kahn and his staff connect with each child. He's so good with kids --- he's a terrific young man! He challenges our boys to be their best. Sometimes the lessons are a few minutes short, and we wish they went the full 30 minutes, and also the email communications can be a bit much, but overall we are impressed and happy to have found this studio. Had so much fun at this curling club for a work team bonding afternoon the other day! She helped us practice before leaving us to try to play on our own. The lounge area is a nice spot to warm up and they allow you to order in food as well! Definitely bundle up, you warm up a bit as you play but it stays pretty cold.

I cannot explain how powerful this experience has been for them - it has made them more confident, attentive, disciplined, and courageous. This is not a belt-mill, where the school basically just pushes kids through the system to charge as much as they can as quickly as they can. Every belt level, and every stripe on each belt is earned through hard work, dedication, and testing. Enrolling was inexpensive, and we were never pressured into any program. We chose a program after it was obvious my two daughters were really having fun and learning a ton. Eventually, the girls decided that they wanted to go for their black belts and I couldn't be prouder of them. The new studio is quickly taking shape, and the owners and staff are extremely dedicated. The head instructor, Stan Riser, is an amazing human being. While he demonstrates a great sense of humor - his instruction is serious and his teaching methods are beyond reproach. As the girls rose in belt levels everything got more intense, interesting, and more fun for them. UMA Centerville participates in many tournaments throughout the year (and encourages their students to compete) and some of my most amazing memories are of their performance in these competitions. We tried two different schools before we found this one, and we are lifers - the girls still love to go as much as their schedules allow. I would encourage anyone who is thinking about having their children, or themselves, study martial arts to come in a watch a class or two and see what you think. I believe you will be impressed.

I can confidently state that becoming a student at the school was one of the most productive and positive decisions I have made. I started as a student in my early thirties. Many adults feel uncomfortable about beginning a commitment well into their career since they have not been in a "learning" environment for a long time. That is a big mistake. Personal growth and knowledge should never end, no matter what your age. The benefits I have received at Unified Martial Arts Academy are many and it is a classic case of the whole being greater than the sum of its parts. The diverse training program put together by Sensei Albert makes every class interesting and exciting, so that there is never any excessive repetition. One of the things that makes the program special for me is that it incorporates physical, mental, and spiritual elements. I have taken many lessons learned at the unified martial arts academy and incorporated them into my everyday life. Finally, the key ingredient of what makes Unified Martial Arts Academy unique is the spirit of the teacher Sensei Albert. He teaches in the way you learn and will take the time to make sure you fully understand the training. He puts heart and passion into every class. Sensei Albert is the proprietor of the school and has practiced karate for many years. and he teaches every class.
