This is our second time coming here for pointe shoe fittings and we have been happy with the service and the shoes both times. They really take the time to fit my daughter and try different style. Great selection of dancewear and a good variety of shoes. The staff is clearly knows their stuff and knows many of the area teachers so they know what each studio is looking for. Online scheduling is super convenient! There are some things you just can't get online shopping and properly fitting pointe shoe is right at the top of that list! Very rude and unhelpful. They ignored us, could not answer basic questions without rolling their eyes. Frankly, I don't understand how anyone can treat a customer this way. Agree with all the comments about the owner being rude. It was like pulling teeth to get a smile (never happened). I told her when I went in that I didn't know what I was doing (purchasing a pair of shoes for a chorus performance) and she certainly didn't care AT ALL. I bought a pair that fit and were comfortable but when I got home, realized they had to be closed toed, which they weren't. I actually would have purchased the closed toed I tried on initially, but they weren't comfortable - not her fault of course. Based on her attitude when I was there, I had a feeling I was going to have trouble returning them. When I arrived with my typical cheery personality, I was greeted with the same scrooge I met the day before. She offered me a store credit, which I cannot use. I am not in dance and her shoes didn't work for me. I did see that she has her return policy posted by the register, again my fault for not seeing it, but she could have mentioned it at the time of purchase like fair and reasonable small business owners do. When I kindly and politely asked for an exception bc there is literally nothing I need in her store, and acknowledged that she was the owner and had the authority to do so, she fed me a line that "the system wouldn't even allow it." Hey, I have a venmo if you'd like to maybe show some mercy. This is the problem with society today...out for only herself. I'll eat the $134 but know that I will share with anyone and everyone my experience and her HORRID personality and unwillingness to offer some reasonable customer service in her own store. Note that I had the shoes in my possession for 24 hours and didn't even open the box. Eye roll...whatever...I hope you live large on that $134 lady. read more

If I could give Dance etc Zero stars I woud have.. Do Not even think of visiting this store or parting with your money at this store. Danae the owner and only person working there will make your life a living hell, responding on your Yelp review by mentioning your children's names and telling right out lies to try and make out you and your children are the problem not her and her cold, unfriendly service - be careful! the names of customers and their children's names are definitely not kept confidential as the owner will name and shame them on public platforms without any shame. She will tale your money knowing that she will keep it as it states on the receipt the store gives store credit for exchange of goods still in the same condition it left the store.. but she will modify it, you will pay for the modification and there is the trap she wants you to to be stuck in.. it is now modified and no one else will buy it in this condition, so no store credit.. (she will just keep your $426 and send your home with shoes that do not fit properly) The condition/ modification caused by her without telling you that she will now not take it back or give you store credit. No other dance store we spoke to/ visited after do modifications unless the customer insists and they wil make sure the customer is aware that they will not be able to return it. Dana, please stop mentioning children's names on Yelp. I will report you as 2 other moms wrote a similar review on Yelp about their experience with you, you replied by mentioning their children's names to scare them and they did what you wanted them to do- to protect their children they have removed their reviews. No doubt this is one of the most beautiful dance stores around. But the customer service here is terrible. It's not always what you say, it's how you say it. And the whole time we were here the workers that were helping us had an attitude the whole time. You would think that they would treat you nice because Dance accessories, leotards, shoes, and etc. is expensive and they want your business but I guess not. I know nothing about ballet but it didn't matter. They were wonderful at helping make sure my daughter got everything she needed. We drove in from out of town to get fitted for her first pair of pointe shoes. We will definitely return when she grows out of this first pair. read more

As a an older adult, I have decided to begin tap lessons and was looking for a pair of tap shoes that are high quality yet appropriate for my beginner needs. Although I was prepared to pop for the more expensive shoes I had read about online, Danea convinced me to go with a less expensive, albeit still very high quality shoe. She could have upsold me but did not. She made sure the shoes fit me properly and even gave me the names of a couple of studios that offer tap for rote adult beginners. She even gave me the discount she offers to the studio's clients. The store was beautiful, clean, and very well stocked. I especially appreciated the strict COVID precautions put in place. That and Danea's kindness and knowledge earned 5 stars from this satisfied customer. I wish all stores were as friendly and conscientious as Dance, etc. read more

Woman at the front (seemed like the owner) was cold as ice. No customer service despite the store being empty. Seemed like she couldn't be bothered with my questions. This is the first time signing my daughter up for any type of dance and I didn't know what I needed and she was not helpful, but instead corrected me on the terms I was using. Items are legitimate so maybe if you aren't a professional dancer she doesn't want to waste her time on you? Not so sure but won't be back here again. read more

My kids have been visiting this store for about four or five years at this point. I feel that the staff as a whole, and of course Danae, are excellent at fitting shoes. I have never felt upsold, had my kids incorrectly sized, etc. It is clear they have the integrity to give them precisely what they need to function as dancers. They are very knowledgeable and communicative about why certain shoes work or won't work. I feel they go above and beyond to the point that we pass by many many stores to travel here for fittings. They carry so many shoes (in stock!) and have a beautiful pointe fitting area. It's colorful, has fun accessories and real equipment that's beneficial for my dancers. We also have boy dancers, and we appreciate that the store has a section for them. Worth the trip, for sure. About the only tip I can think of is the store is best for well-behaved children. Since we have a long drive to get there, and we also have a special-needs kid who shows up well-rested, curious, and rambunctious, we definitely feel the pressure that our kid is expected to act neurotypically. That's not a knock on them (who doesn't want well behaved children- even us!) it's more a heads-up for parents who may have kids who want to touch everything: they have a store with lots of pretty things to grab within reach! read more

I have been taking my daughter here for several years to purchase pointe shoes. It had been a while since she had a "re-fitting" so we decided to schedule one on a whim hoping they could fit us in before the studio resumed classes following holiday break this week. Fortunately, they were able to accommodate our schedule and Danae was a pleasure, as always. She took the time to really work with my daughter and presented several options for her super strong feet. My daughter chose a new brand of shoe to try this go round and the other options were written in her file so if these turn out not to be her favorite, we can easily try one of the other options. During the fitting Danae was so incredibly kind, helpful, and offered her complete and undivided attention to my daughter. She is the best! We drive over an hour to shop at Dance Etc., but I will gladly make the drive as often as needed in order to support them! read more

I went in today to get my daughter her very first Pointe shoes. She was very excited about this as she has been dancing for 11 years but this will be her first year with Pointe. Walking in the store, it was visibly really pretty but the owner (the lady who does the Pointe shoe fittings) has horrible customer service. I forgot to have my daughter wear tights (my fault completely) and she asked me several times if I wanted to just come back (which I understood but she was visibly upset before she even said hello and had a nasty tone). I told her I would prefer to just go ahead if she could just wear the little "booties" people use to try on shoes. She did use them but from that point on had an attitude the whole time. The rest of the visit was like that and I will NEVER RETURN. My gut told me to just leave the shoes and go somewhere else but I wasn't sure if anyone else in this area had what my daughter needed because she has very wide and long feet. I hope no one experiences what I did. Her employees look genuinely scared of her. And I'm not sure she even knows how to smile. I understand being proper is required of a ballerina but she isn't anymore and it would be great for her to change her personality a little to fit customer service. I don't doubt she knows what she's talking about but there are better ways of speaking to people. Good luck to anyone that doesn't suit her view of a dancer! read more

As a business owner myself, I was disappointed with our experience overall. Things were great at first, but went downhill a week later. We received awesome service when purchasing our 3yr old daughter's second pair of ballet slippers and first pair of tap shoes, and although it was pricey we were happy because our little one was thrilled. They even gave her a little magic wand that she's carried around with her since! Then a couple days later, our dance studio went out of business without warning due to COVID, after registration fees had been paid. We tried without any luck to find her another studio for 3yr old ballet and tap, so we settled on just ballet instead. I called to ask if we could return the new, unworn tap shoes, and was told they only offer store credit. Oh well, I figured we would be back eventually so we would take that. But when we arrived, we were told that because we don't have the original box, we can't even get any credit. I completely understand that every business has policies, but I can tell you for sure that during this trying time where every customer (should) matter more than ever, we have made lots of exceptions for our customers. I'm sad to say we can't recommend this store to our personal and business friends and acquaintances moving forward, which is unfortunate as the business we own is in a very close industry to dance. My husband and I always like to support those in our youth sports field, but maybe other business owners don't feel the same way. read more

We went into the store to get a pair of tap shoes. My child had recently grown out of the previous pair (s). Found this location online and thought due to their convenient location, this would be perfect. NOT! I called the store prior to visiting to ensure they had the size we needed. On the phone the female (BTW - who falsely identified herself when she answered the phone) was very curt when answering the questions we had. I was clearly "bothering" her as she placed shoes on the shelves! When you walk into the location you will no doubt enjoy the beautiful aesthetics, as it is decadently decorated and the layout/design of inventory is very nice. However, the positives end there! The customer service (the reason businesses are financially successful and customers return) was absolutely horrible! Let me add, not a sole customer was in the store, so it was not due to high volume of customers at the time. We unfortunately engaged with the same person who answered the phone, but she forget she lied about her name :). When trying to simply "view" the inventory for tap shoes and determine if the size we know he is in TAP SHOES, not street shoes, since he has been taking Tap for years, she consistently was unwilling to show us the shoes. This conversation (which went absolutely no where lasted for about 5 minutes before I asked her why was she be so resistant to showing me a pair of tap shoes that we were looking to purchase. She was unable to provide an answer and we left. I have too many choices when making purchases to deal with such terrible customer service and very arrogant behavior from a business. Especially in retail shop in which there is significant competition. This business has a lot to learn about STAYING in business, not just opening a "pretty" store. read more

Please do not go to this shop. After 2 bad experiences there, I now drive twice the distance to go to another dance supply store. They have made mistakes and then are very unapologetic, after having wasted my very valuable time. The last time this occurred, I was overcharged on tax on some leotards. I discovered it at home, callled the store, and was told I would have to wait the 10 days for my check to clear. I live 45 min away, but would just happen to be back in town in a couple of days (very unusual for me) and was told there was still nothing they could do. When I questioned why I was being inconvenienced for their mistake (the OWNER's error, since she rung me up) the owner took an extremely belittling tone with me saying, "let me explain something to you; you paid by check, not cash. A check is not actual money, it is a promise to pay later, so I cannot refund money that you haven't really paid". She was rude and insulting and refused to fix a problem that she created. Additionally, the times I have been in the dance store, I have never seen the same sales girl twice. I suspect this rude, inconsiderate owner treats her employees as badly as she treats her customers. read more
