I was concerned I wouldn't be able to keep up with the moves or wouldn't have the stamina. But good news about Nia! The moves are pretty simple and fun. And it is an entertaining, uplifting workout. Definitely gets the chi moving without being over the top too much. Beth is a fantastic Nia instructor! She explains things well and is easy to follow. Beth teaches Nia at a few different places. Highly recommended way to get your dance on.

A big factor in her long history is easily the positive and nurturing approach from the School founders - Denise and Rick Vogt - which extends faithfully to their faculty, and better yet, to the student body. (Aside - their students have begun participating at the Youth America Grand Prix, and we routinely get to hear that some are being awarded scholarships to prestigious schools across the country. Quality wise, they're truly top-notch) If nothing else, my daughter's dance experience gave her a supportive, safe environment to pursue her talent and learn to bring out her best. The camaraderie she built with her fellow dancers remains genuine and is a real gift - as girls get older, they don't always have these positive and encouraging cliques. The experience she had is a real testimony to the Vogt's commitment toward creating a healthy, creative, and excellent dance community.

There is an assessment online based on your experience and with that they put you into a level. You then go online and you will only see games that you are eligible to play in. You then sign-up for a date, time, and location within the Twin Cities to play hockey. It caps out so only two goalies (who play for free) and I believe 20 skaters, including the captain. The captain brings the pucks and is there to ensure nobody breaks the rules, switch up the teams if they are unfair, and talk to the league if they feel a player should move up or down levels. Bring jerseys of a dark and a light color so you can wear similar colors so you know who is on whose team. There are games for just those of the same level. In those games after warmup time the sticks go in the middle and the captain just picks up a stick and pushes it to one side or the other and goes until all sticks are split and teams are formed. You the put on the jersey color you are assigned (dark or light). Games that have multiple level players are called community games and the computer draws up teams to even out the teams with similar make up of different level players. The teams will be announced typically in the locker rooms as you suit up and you out on your jersey colors. You get to know people and develop friendships. I've played with many of the same people at the same rink on the same day with a dinner run afterwards as the bonds developed. The website offers different events as well such as classes or tournaments. Note: during fall/winter the game times are generally later as priority goes to local schools or leagues and that ice costs more. The times are earlier/decent during spring/summer.

Going to class at Balanced Barre has become as fundamental to my weekend routine as say... eating…read moreor sleeping. That is how phenomenal this place is. Barre fitness at it's core is a combination of yoga, pilates, and strength training that utilizes the ballet barre to assist with alignment as you sculpt and tone your entire body. An amazing workout that is accessible to people of all ability levels! I'm obsessed. Now on to the specifics that make Balanced Barre so special. It was recently opened last November by Tina, who has been teaching pilates for a long time and has wanted to have her own place for a very long time. Tina is one of the best fitness instructors I have ever had and that means a lot considering I have taken classes from upwards of 50 different instructors. The seriousness with which she approaches each class is so impressive, and she takes time to do adjustments on each student to make sure we are doing all of the postures right. Her taste in music is great and she does all of the reps along with us for the entire class, which is something you learn to deeply appreciate once you have either (a) taught a fitness class yourself or (b) taken class from an instructor that consistently sits there and guides, but doesn't actually do the moves. PLEASE do yourself a favor and try this style of movement and this particular studio. You'll be hooked - I promise!

What a great workout! I bought a package to BB after a yelp event a few months ago. I have been…read moreable to try the Barre Amped class and the one with cardio. The cardio class was defiantly harder but they both really push you. It was nice to go to a class that was different than the standard yoga or gym strength training. I shake every time so I know it is working. The atmosphere is great as well. All of the instructors keep the class upbeat and have great music pumping. The classes are never too crowded and there is no judgment. Scheduling is amazing with BB. Buying packages and signing up for classes is extremely convenient and easy. I've even been able to bring some friends and have them use some of my sessions. Overall I do think the classes are pretty affordable and the packages make it even more affordable. Give Balanced Barre a shot and you won't be upset! The only difficult part is getting to class on time. I can never make it to the 5:45 sessions so I stick to the weekends.
