Of course the president was kind enough to give a generous $500 back per semester, as if that's supposed to help over six months of classes. Most of the professors are great, some are only focused on their own tastes when in crit. The classes are long, and there is rarely time to complete any assignments as well as classes. I often found myself dropping classes to offset the workload I was given. Most professors don't care that you have 4 additional 10 hour assignments due as well as writing and research assignments, so it continues to pile on. It feels like a scam. I was so excited to be 19 and applying, but now that I'm older I see the way they take in vulnerable artists for their money promising a distinguished degree. What are they even spending it on? Facilities and amenities (especially housing) are RARELY updated. There are only two buildings, one of which is over 100 years old and has barely been touched. I understand paying faculty, but when you're charging 800+ kids 50,000+ per year... you have to wonder. Printing and parking is not free either, they take every spare penny you have. There is a reason I'm not going back next semester, the stress and pain wasn't worth it, even if I graduated, what could I expect? Assistance getting into the job market after school is non-existent. They kick you in the ass with a good luck out the door. If you're an artist, just begin your own practice. Save yourself some time and money. You don't need a degree to be a real artist. Don't waste your money.

While online resources have made these programs somewhat easy to learn, getting a few days of in person instruction has really taken me further. The classroom was pure art class where you could see evidence of years of creativity in the tables. Overall I highly recommend checking Articulture out. They do programming for adults, kids, camps, groups etc.

I thought maybe we would each make one piece, but we each got to make 4 or 5 bowl-like objects (you got to pick) and to paint them. We also used the break room to order food, since pottery in the morning was hungry work. Northern Clay is giant inside- I had not idea looking at it from the street. There is a parking lot right by the building, so you don't have to worry about street parking. We had a great time, and will be back to pick up or art in 3 weeks! I definitely recommend the group classes or private parties, which came out to ~$50 per person.

I know all pottery takes a lot of work, but I'm not going to spend $80 on a misshapen mug. The items do focus pretty heavily on dishes and cups/mugs, which made gift shopping a little difficult, since I wasn't about to buy a surprise dinnerware set for someone. The person manning the front desk was very helpful and brought out more pieces from the back room of artists I liked. She was also able to share with me which pieces were and were not dishwasher safe. I left with a good selection of gifts and would definitely come back again.

I have never taken a course at the University of Minnesota (UMN). I used to hang out in this area…read moremainly because I like Dinkytown, which is the heart of UMN student life. I like the stores and good eats in this neighbourhood. I've always felt comfortable visiting universities and checking out campuses. It's no different here. I had a friend who got his master and doctorate degrees from this university, so I got to hear about his experiences when we both lived in Minnesota. I am a hockey fan. The UMN has a decent hockey program, both men's and women's. You often see local talent make it to the Minnesota Wild and Minnesota Frost rosters, respectively. Alex Goligoski, who recently retired from the NHL, played for the Minnesota Golden Gophers at UMN before he was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He won the Stanley Cup with this team, but spent his last three years with the Wild as a defenseman. During his 1,000th NHL game, he scored the game-winning goal, which was quite the storybook ending. As of late, Brock Faber is a solid defenseman on the Wild. He is starting his second full season with the team and was captain of the Minnesota Golden Gophers. He is young, but exceptionally skilled and mature beyond his years. Taylor Heise, who is a forward for the PWHL's Minnesota Frost, played for the Minnesota women's hockey team. The Frost won the Walter Cup and she won the Ilana Kloss Playoff MVP award. If I were looking into academics, UMN has both computer science and mathematics departments that would have appealed to me. It is similar to York University in that you can choose to do either a Bachelor of Arts or Science in either field. Only a Master of Science is available in both. You can also study towards a PhD in either domain. UMN has a Bachelor of Science in Technical Writing and Communication. Many universities start off offering Technical Writing degrees as an Arts degree. I like the shift with universities going with a Bachelor of Science. Technical writers are needed more than ever to explain technical, complex details as clearly and concisely in engineering, medical, and more. It's makes more sense that it's a Science degree. This university does not offer graduate degrees in Technical Writing. It's one reason why I didn't do my Master's here. I don't have any inclination to get a doctorate. If UMN offered one in my chosen field, I'd consider it if the price is affordable and I could do it remotely. It was nice being back in the area. (394)

Many would be good for a child's room and would make a great gift. For a shower as well. They have such novelty paintings i.e. the history of jeans, Dad's rootbeer, Rod Serling from the Night Gallery days. I loved meeting Kelly and was in awe of this place. Another reason to come to the West Bank. It's on the block for the Wednesday weekly West End days with all the vendors.

They made sure and did excellent job with numbing gel and Novacane. They told me that if at any point whatsoever that I feel uncomfortable, they will be more than happy to take a brief time out and also do more numbing. I found that the people who do my cleaning where senior students who were getting closer to graduation. In my opinion, you could tell that they really cared a lot about doing a great job. If they don't do a great job, they don't get good grades or graduate. And they are closely monitored by Senior dentists with a ton of experience. And even though Senior dentist have a fantastic bedside manner, if you will. One of the senior students was Gretchen. I'm sure she'll be graduating soon and you may not be able to schedule her. However, I continually told Senior staff that she did a stellar job of keeping me calm, keeping me from a feeling any pain, and doing a superb job with the cleaning itself. I also had Dr Li do a root canal on one of my front teeth. It was a tricky problem. He tried twice from the bottom and it did not work. So, we had to go from the top (through the gums) into the tooth, doing a root canal that way. I was completely and utterly terrified that I would be in horrific pain. He and his assisting staff made me unmeasurably calm and relaxed, and I did not feel a single thing of pain the entire time. I can only tell you that I have had an absolutely fabulous experience from cleaning, to having surgery, their bedside manner, professionalism, and all things in between. Do NOTE: they do not have the nitrous oxide gas at the school. I'm not sure exactly why but you should know this. HOWEVER - you should also know that I almost did not go there because I have always required having gas with my severe PTSD. I am certainly glad that I did choose to go there, because they did an absolutely amazing job in helping me feel calm, and I was being professionally cared for buy a very positive and friendly staff. I cannot recommend them enough.
