Let me start off by saying I have *previewed* this establishment during a Yelp Elite event earlier…read morethis week. But they impressed me. I think they are geographically and conceptually positioned to do well. Pronounced "three one seven", their street dance academy is the only dance studio in Indy whose concentration is the art of breakdance. They offer classes for 5-years-olds on up through adults of all ages (our lead instructor told us they recently taught a 70-something yr old). It's not only fun and interesting, it's fantastic exercise. The moves definitely work your core muscles. I would imagine in a more traditional class as opposed to our quicker demo, that it's a full-body and cardio workout, improving both strength and endurance/stamina. Our lead instructor "Seoul" taught us some basics. He's smart, charismatic and has a laid-back style that dispels self-consciousness by the class. We explored Toprock footwork, Freezes, and some mechanics of Powermoves. There's a lot physics that goes into to this dance form, which Seoul pointed out. He also brought a cultural context to a lot of what we were doing. I was impressed that they had 5 staff at our evening event, which ran 8-9:30p. After we guests were asked to show what we'd learned by putting it all together, the four dance instructors each brought signature moves to the floor. Breakdancing can be broken down into Breakin' and Popping, and one instructor, "Nimbus", was particularly skilled at the latter. They also have an awesome DJ. They're running half-day kids camps for 2 weeks in June. The weeks are divided by age group, so DEFINITELY check out their website for the deets. If your kids like Wii and Fortnite dancing this is the real deal. What a fantastic way to get our kiddos off their devices and into some healthy exercise, as well as expose them to something they're too young to have experienced the first time. For those of us old enough to remember breakdance as a cultural experience and unique art form, now's your chance to not let it pass you by again ;)

The space is so vibrant and fun with graffiti art along the walls and the music is so fun! Loud and makes you want to do more than just tap your foot! Great for exercise for kids because they don't know that they are exercising, great for confidence because these are moves not everyone knows, and great for fun because who doesn't love to watch people spin on their heads?! Even my three year old wants to sign up... Check out their website! Unique classes for kids for sure! - And we have Seoul as our teacher and HE IS AMAZING! Great energy and great with the kids! I love places where they great you and your kids by name when you walk in!

I've been to…read moremany kid birthday parties at many different venues, and Bongo Boy impressed me because everything was so well organized. From start to finish, the birthday party went really well, all the kids had a great time, and you could tell that the staff at Bongo Boy had done this before and they were in charge of the situation. From the perspective of a guest, the party was super relaxed and fun for everyone. They started with some balloon play, which consisted of just putting some balloons out, turning on some music and letting the kids go at them. Honestly, you could probably just set kids up in a bare room with balloons and they would have a good time for an hour, but then it was time to play with some simple percussion instruments. The kids played with those for a while, and then we took a break and ate food and cake. Afterward, we got into a circle and beat on the bongos! We banged on the bongos for a good while, and it makes a lot of noise, so just be aware of that if you have kids who might be sensitive to noise. (My kids had to take a break after a while because it got too stimulating for them.) The birthday party ended with some more balloon play, and everyone left smiling. Bingo Boy does family music time / family drum circles every Saturday at 9:30 a.m., as of this writing. For a small fee, your family can spend the morning making music together. Pretty awesome!

The teachers we've had so far for ballet and hip hop have been really friendly and fun--they seem to enjoy being around children and teaching dance, and it shows. I was a little afraid about what our experience would be like since they hadn't danced before, but it's been great--so if you share a similar concern, rest assured that you don't have to be like those dance families you see in reality shows! We did a birthday party here about 5 years ago and had a "real" ballerina come in and lead the kids in a dance...everyone in our group loved it! They even helped us set up our party favors, etc. and took notes when the gifts were being opened so I didn't have to.

Affordable if you aren't looking for much and don't mind saying no all the time to the extras and push to be on the dance teams to meet "goals" and "potential" as they say a lot. Teachers are all over the place... very few Ok core faculty then it's random college students and people who dance on the side sold as "experts" from NY to LA...but almost everyone is local from Indy area....which I guess is technically between NY and LA lol.

I have been doing Jazzercise classes for almost four years now, and I can't get enough! My favorite class is Sculpt because it combines all types of exercises--cardio, weights, stretching...and we even get to use the yoga balls! I also love the dance-based routines, especially when there's fun music playing! One thing I have to commend this Jazzercise location for is their commitment to cleanliness. The yoga mats and weights are disinfected/sanitized in between every class, and every surface is spotless. Speaking of the mats and weights, they are great quality and free to borrow during class for every participant. You can bring your own, but you really don't have to! Some tips I can give to those interested in participating in a Jazzercise class is to bring a separate pair of shoes to work out (you are not allowed to wear the shoes you wore outside on the workout floor), sign up for classes in the app, and, if you can't make it to an in-person class, try a livestream or video from the website! I can't say enough positive things about Jazzercise, but what I'm most grateful for are the friendships I've made with the incredible women in this group!

I used to go more when I was school-age, but I recently bought my one year old for a trial class. It was a good time and I enjoyed meeting some new parent friends and having a place for my baby to run around. It was a little more hands-off and a little less catered towards babies than other classes around town that we've tried and enjoyed. The teacher was super nice, but she kept looking at her phone to turn the music on/off, check what was next for the lesson, etc. I really try to not have my phone out around my baby and so I'd appreciate if they could just use a sound system or write notes on a post-it or something so that phones are out during a paid-for class experience. I understand that it's not usually a big deal but think that would help elevate the class. There was a lot of time to run around on our own, but my baby is too little for the bars, can't jump on the mats, and then there were only a few things to crawl on, so it could use with a few extra engaging activities too for younger ages. They did have a 'back hand spring' lesson that was cute/funny and my baby enjoyed rolling over the foam cylinder - LOL. So proud of that little nugget. The man at the front desk was nice and I liked that they had toys in the lobby for kids to play with after class. I also noticed a private room for parties and saw that they offer summer camps too. I can see my elementary-school age self loving coming here as a nice intro into gymnastics and would be happy to try it again when our son is a little older.
