We laughed so much while we learned the basics of 4 different dances!!! We were really nervous before we went. As soon as we walked in the door we were immediately put at ease by the owner of the studio, Doreen. She greeted us with a warm smile and relaxed demeanor that completely made us feel like we'd been friends for years. This vibe continued throughout the entire lesson. Before we knew it we were dancing around the floor laughing and accomplishing dance steps that we never thought we'd be able to do before we walked in. There was no question that we wanted more. We are now official members of the Fred Astaire Wellington family... and that's exactly how we felt... like members of the family. Our 15yr old son will be taking hip hop lessons there as well. All of the instructors have the same patient, easy way about them.. We have our next lesson in a couple of days and can not wait! Doreen also hosts events regularly that are open to the public. I went to one the other night that was geared to support local small business owners. Thanks to Doreen, this dance studio is accomplishing so much more than just teaching dance, it is helping to bring the local community closer together. They try to learn the students names and it feels more like a relaxed family atmosphere. The actual facility is very clean, spacious, well-decorated, and has comfortable seating while you are waiting for your class. Thankfully, there is also a water fountain and water dispenser. The other students are friendly as well and the dance studio location is in a safe area with plenty of parking. Their website has a monthly calendar that lists all of the scheduled classes and events. There's a wide breath of styles including salsa, swing, ballet, cha cha, and even line dancing. You can drop in and pay by the class (around $15-20), but I hear there's a monthly option that allows you to take all classes at a discounted rate. In the classes I have been to, the instructors demonstrate the dance moves, walk through the steps with the students, and then have rotating partner dances for practice.
