I love that it's a real dance class with real skill development and see myself getting better each week. There are people of all ages and the instructor does a great job of teaching to all of our skill levels. My son used to take bugle lessons from here years ago so I knew when I wanted to take classes that would be the first place I looked!

It gets HOT so light clothing would be recommended. You get a lot of hands on, not like some glass places where you just choose a color. You get to twist the glass in the furnace. You get to dip it and roll in your color and you get to blow your own! Everything is safe and sanitized. Very affordable and more people should give glass blowing a try!

Highly recommend Covington School of Music and Mr. John in particular if you're looking to learn the guitar!!!

This was my daughter's first year at BXP, and her fourth year overall in dance. We tried two other…read morestudios prior to this...one very classical for ballet (which was not my daughter's cup of tea at the time), and another studio whose program was recreational and not quite the experience my young dancer wanted. BXP offers the variety of classes she wanted, and the teachers have challenged her. The growth at the end of the year was clearly evident. Towards the recital, my daughter needed extra support, I asked for it and she got it. My favorite part as the parent was, of course, the recital. :) The recital was gorgeous! Fees were not as expensive as some of the other schools, and considering it took place at the Mahalia Jackson Theatre, I felt that we got a good value. Performing as professionals do has increased my daughter's love of dance. Not sure what more a parent could want from a dance school. I was shocked to find a one-star review of this place (from 2013). That review does not at all reflect the experience we had at BXP. Maybe there have been changes since then....but there are many students who have been dancing with them for over five years. I hope that my daughter becomes one of them.

Get art that makes you happy!…read more I first came across Marianne via insta. Can't quite remember who posted about it, but was immediately interested in the bright colors and patterns in her work. She recently did a sale on her prints, and I picked up a couple that resonated with me with Pilipinx themes, like "Moonface Sisters." I love that description, and it's something that felt immediately familiar. Another piece of hers, "Sunday at lola's house" (grandmother's house) also immediately resonated. The mix of colors and shapes totally reminded me of the Philippines, and similarly visiting my own lola's house. Lush vibes like Louisiana where home gives way to humidity. I decided that I'd make the trip up to be able to see the rest of her work in person, and am super glad I did! I was able to make a reservation for a specific time to visit (appreciate the COVID measures!), and she and her partner were super generous in sharing space, stories, and a bit more about Covington (I'd never actually been around). It was nice to be able to talk about our families as Filipino Americans, learn about her process, and see how her work is evolving. Looking forward to what comes next!
