They also charged well bellow the service estimates and much lower than dealer prices. There are a few Subaru repair shops closer to me that I am sure do a great job. I started going to Dana Meyer Auto Care in January 0f 2023. Steve's Auto Repair had closed and I needed a place to take my car. I am very happy with the service I get at Dana Meyer. Breanna, thank you for your exemplary service yesterday. I came here after numerous fantastic reviews and wanted to try it for myself. AC started being a lil wonky recently and brought it here to get checked. Set up an appt online but it was bugged (call them to make appt, don't schedule it online) - and when I came, Breanna had told me that based on the info I wrote down and told her, that it most likely was a Honda parts issue that was covered by a warranty and that I should go to them to get it replaced completely, with a high potential that it was free. This would mean they wouldn't get the chance to get my business. Myself being lazy and thought it wouldn't hurt to get data, decided to go with them anyway due to their honesty - after all it doesn't hurt to get more data right? Sure enough the issue most likely did seem to be a parts issue that would fall under Honda warranty, and after about 1-1.5 hours work (rate is about 160 or 180 an hour or something), they sent me a detailed list of what was done with a few additional multi-check point statuses as well. While I was a little disappointed the issue wasn't fixed, I knew this was a potential route, and was glad they put everything back together ASAP to not charge me more than necessary. Guess what? Took it to Honda the next day and these folks were 100% correct :) Breanna, it ended up being BOTH a condenser leak AND compressor seal leak! So it was covered completely. In retrospect I could've saved $200 altogether by taking their advice initially - but tbh I don't have any regrets supporting them as a local business due to their honesty and exemplary customer service. I'll be recommending them to my coworkers from now on :) 10/10, thanks y'all! read more

Truly go the extra mile. We have been coming to Dana Meyer for years. The service has always been prompt, reliable and practical. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We are always told what repairs are optional and offered ways to save costs.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But last month, they outdid themselves. I was driving down Gilman on my way to work when my driver's side window shattered as I tried to roll it up. I was in a real pickle: it was about to rain, I have no garage at home, I needed to get the car repaired and sheltered until said repair. And I needed to get to work. I immediately detoured to Dana Meyer. Another issue arose as soon as I arrived - the door would not close, probably because glass fell into the closing mechanism. This meant the car was unsafe to drive. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff immediately inspected my car and offered options for repair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]In the end, to save me towing costs, they drove my car (! and me) down the road a bit to Continental Autobody.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The car was kept in a garage until the repair could be completed. I contacted Dana Meyer Auto Care due to recommendations on NextDoor for replacement of the wrong windshield that was installed by Moises (no last name) proprietor of King of Auto Glass, a "business" that does not exist at 4300 Sonoma Way, in Park Place Center, Vallejo. Beware, and please read my review on Yelp for the details and his responses regarding his abysmal customer service and inability to look up the correct part number, then butcher the installation. However, Clear Vision Auto Glass and Dana Meyer Auto Care, 5 GOLD stars. I own a 2016 Lexus CT200h with an F sport package 46.5K miles. I have owned Toyotas in the past, a 2005 Sienna van presently. With luxury comes sophistication & absolute specifications due to electronic wiring in the windshield of a CT200h that depending on the year & model have 4-5 different options in the windshield alone. Who knew? Not me, NOT Moises, but expert professionals do. The wrong one was installed, which resulted in the climate control system not properly functioning, as in no heat or AC. In my first email to DM AC I stated that the windshield was replaced, when I drove it a couple of days later, I discovered the issue. The King was absolutely certain that the windshield replacement had nothing to do with this. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Brianna, their top shelf service manager replied, asked for specifics.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I supplied DM AC with photos, they consulted with Mao, their specialist at Clear Vision Auto Glass[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. Not only was it the incorrect windshield, but of the wiring underneath was cut, so the sensors that enabled functionality were no longer connected. They positively confirmed, that the wrong windshield had been installed and explained clearly why this was the case and what would be required to repair the repair. Less than four hours after being dropped off my car had the right windshield & climate control system operating as it should be. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What I want to emphasize is the EXCELLENT customer service provided to me BEFORE I was a customer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] This business team walks their talk, takes pride in the work they do to serve car owners in the community, and follows up to make sure everything is as it should be. I'm going to make this simple. I reviewed this business, and was accurate and fair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The owner of the business did not like my review, and messaged me personally to explain his side and why he runs his business like he does. I continue to disagree with him, but he refused to let it go. So much so that I eventually had to block him.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have no personal ill will towards him, but his assertion that I have a relationship with a disgruntled employee is ridiculous. I posted my review on Yelp, and a former employee of his messaged me directly to tell me that his experience working at this shop was consistent with what I wrote. I don't know if his shop does good work, or not. I know that he tried to upcharge me to bring my car in for a simple battery change. [[HIGHLIGHT]]He then went on to disparage his competitors and tell me that I don't know anything about this business and was condescending and rude.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will not be bringing my car into his shop. I'm an engineer and typically do my own car maintenance. Recently I broke something and took my car to Dana Meyer. I knew that it was not going to be a straightforward fix. Dana Meyer gave me an estimate of $2200, communicated that the fix was not straightforward, and that the repair might be as much as $4000. They even gave me a second call back and re-communicated the same message, to make sure I understood that the first $2200 might not fix the problem. I decided to have them do the repair. They successfully did the repair, and then charged me $1000 (!), saying it turned out to be easier than anticipated. They certainly could have just charged me the full $2200 and I would have been happy, but they actually reduced the cost by half! This was my first experience at Dana Meyer, and everything about it speaks to a real professional shop. While driving along minding my business I casually looked down at my speedometer and saw that the needle on my temp gauge had strayed away from its normal operating temp. I had gone to Dana Meyer in the recent past and they had ending up referring me to a transmission specialist since they were unable to fix the problem there. I figured I'd give them another try. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Setting up an appointment was easier than navigating a tight underground parking lot. At their website in a few clicks I had scheduled an appointment for 8a on a Wednesday.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] On appointment day, they opened promptly at 8a and I checked in my car telling them my vehicles issues and giving them my contact information. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Dylan, the advisor took all my information, and gave me a general estimate. He also gave me the option to receive a text or phone call for any updates.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A few hours into my day I received a call from Dylan, giving me an update of their findings and that it would cost a touch more. I approved the updated estimate and let them get back to work. A bit later I received a text that my car was ready to be picked up. Upon arriving back to Dana Meyer Dylan went over the invoice with me, told me the fix and after paying handed over my keys a directed me to where my vehicle was parked. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I have to say that the staff there are very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable, making my experience a very pleasant one.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I do have to say that Dana Meyer isn't that close to me, but it was well worth trip to receive excellent care of my car with staff that shows they care about the customer and their vehicles. read more

Not necessarily customer satisfaction.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I Had a tire blowout two blocks away and though I had spent over $500 for a routine maintenance service the previous day and had talked to them about buying new tires next ( as they also own Albany Tires) and was about to spend another 1600 two days later when a part came in, there was zero help offered. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Although I was less than 3 blocks away the only suggestion was: " Get a tow truck"[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . Meanwhile, I was lucky enough to have the blowout almost in front of Max's tire and repair shop, owned and run by a super helpful Peruvian Though I'd never been a customer at Max's, he couldn't have been more helpful with no money discussion whatsoever. For me, this really highlighted the difference between the American cultures' emphasis on a transactional relationship and lack of trust and respect for its good customers, versus what I know well in Latin America as a relational one. Recently my family was with me in Mexico, where I usually go for my winters and when a high-end restaurant couldn't take my credit card, the owner was happy to say with a polite, friendly smile- that's ok You can just bring me cash the next day. Similarly, some of my poorest friends there who are Artisan jewelers and clothing importers are willing to "sell"things with the note of " that's fine, if you don't have cash on the beach and want to buy that dress, please take it today and pay me tomorrow. ". Remember the old days of the loaner car or in the least a quick drop off? 5 uber rides later and because they closed before I could give them my credit card for the balance - even though I tried to do that the day before when I dropped my car off and am a customer with a good history there - I couldn't take my car with the unpaid balance, even though I offered the mechanic there to do just that after hours. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So they only made it more difficult. Totally transactional. You're supposed to trust them but they won't trust you, trust me[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I understand that Dana Meyer retired and left the business to be run by these profit hungry younger folks who don't actually offer customer service, despite Prince Charming at the front. Obviously they take their $195/ per hour seriously and don't spare An extra moment to be helpful. And although I mentioned 3 times That I needed an extra Honda key/ after being locked out, I didn't get one 4 days later. My question about key was then deflected to " Are you sure you talked to me?" Again, unhelpful and disrespectful! [[HIGHLIGHT]]This place really takes the saying that " the business of America is business "quite literally. They were gracious enough to have me drop it off overnight twice (the second time was comp) to see if they could figure out the issue. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Brianna, Noel, and Phe were patient, helpful, transparent, and kind throughout the entire process.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Rather than guessing what the issue was and billing me hundreds of dollars to fix it, they were honest and said it may be an early sign that can't be detected quite yet. [[HIGHLIGHT]]So, they gave me some tips in the meantime and said to just head over if a warning light came on.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When the check engine light did come on, you bet I drove right over and they scanned the code right away. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They were thorough and patient with explaining the issue to me and how it caused all the symptoms/issues that were going on with my car.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] It was a Friday before closing (of course!) but they got me in on the following Tuesday morning and it didn't take long to replace the sensor. I will definitely be coming here again for routine maintenance. From the jump, I knew Dana Meyer had my back. Weird experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Took my car in and the folks at the front counter were helpful and efficient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But when the quote for the repair was finally ready it was more than the value of the vehicle. Serious bummer. Then things got weird. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The front desk team let us know that the proprietor was interested in purchasing our auto. We discussed a price and all seemed good[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then more than a week later the front desk team let us know that he was no longer interested and that we needed to come pick it up. Again, serious bummer![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We came to pick up our car and found rat droppings in the engine area and it looked like rats had been inside, gnawing at the seat padding/foam. Awful situation to be left in. Watch out folks, trust is an issue! read more

I've been using Dana Meyer for 15 years, spanning three different cars. Back then, Dana was still at work every day. What's kept me loyal is that they do great maintenance work and spot potential problems and fix them early so that my cars are always running smoothly, even the very old ones. But beyond the knowledge and great work, they're scrupulously honest, their estimates are always fair and complete, and they don't try to talk you into extra work. They work efficiently, so costs don't suddenly balloon, and they explain everything in your bill in detail and are patient with questions. I've owned some pretty old cars and never had a breakdown or major problem on the road. And it hasn't cost me a lot. There's no better recommendation for an auto shop than that. read more

Warning-Maybe triggering*** So I'm from the east coast and am still pretty new to the area. Did some research and settled on this shop. I brought in my vehicle for a reoccurring issue. I experienced stickier shock at the inspection cost of 169 per hour. I called my partner to get their opinion. The woman whose name i didn't get became very loud and insinuated very rudely if I couldn't afford it, I should leave. ( I was not dressed the best, and I looked tired. I had just worked a long shift) I was shocked and looked around to see if any of the other workers would say anything. They were all men. They kept their head down. Another agent, Luis, came and spoke much more kindly and professionally. I left the car, and chalked it up to a bad day. I came back to pick up. Luis was checking me out. He was attempting to explain the estimate and next steps. My partner had questions so I called them and together we were coming up with a plan. She swoops in, over talks Luis, and began yelling at me. Said she wished my partner came in instead. I'm a woman, my partner is a man. She never spoke to him this way. I was extremely embarrassed because I couldn't understand her anger and disrespect. My partner heard everything and was shocked. I paid and she attempted to "apologize" saying I was just the middle man. The shop itself did good work, but that worker really is out of control. As a black woman, I got the feeling she was defensive from the beginning as I noticed with other customers she was polite. Please be aware that this person has problems and should be avoided if you want a pleasant experience. read more

We've been coming to this shop due to reviews and recs. We've had two bad experiences. In the last one, I took my Impreza there with a seizing AC compressor. They took the car, did not find a problem, and returned it with damage. They backed it into a wall and got their wall paint all over my bumper, but somehow didn't say anything. I was told the owner's son was looking at my car. After taking it back a 2nd time (they didn't fix it the first time), we noticed the damage (we actually noticed it the first time but didn't dream it was Dana Meyer's. We bent over backwards understanding who hit us, because we never dreamed it was Dana Meyers.. But the paint matches their parking lot wall perfectly, as does the location). I called and confronting them, they said we could bring it back and they'd talk about a solution. Needless to say I didn't trust them at that point, as an employee had clearly damaged my car without owning up to it. The paint marks were significant and it would have been loud. So, I opened the hood, googled the noisy component, and took it to another shop. That shop confirmed my diagnosis of a seizing AC compressor, and replaced it. I buffed out Dana Meyer's wall paint myself. The bumper scratches, however remain. read more

It took me five years of being disappointed (or outright pissed) in one mechanic or another when I moved to the East Bay. Dana Meyer Auto has repeatedly given me excellent service and done what I asked. I trust them with my car which I use for work daily to carry very valuable cargo. The customer service is good, especially when you are dealing with Dana himself. I came today thinking that they made a mistake and ask them to look at it. It turns out they hadn't made one and much more importantly, when I suggested that it was a possibility, Dana did not get defensive at all and was all about being helpful and finding a solution. I don't know about you, but I have not found a lot of this kind of ''adulting" in the mechanic world and I am a grateful loyal customer. read more

Can no longer say they're old school honest. During the last year, I've received 3 quotes with unnecessary costly repairs or markups as high as 108% more than the market rate of comparable local shops. The total exorbitant amount for deceptive recommendations and low quality parts is upwards of $1200. A friend of mine has also had similar experiences recently. read more

I had my first servicing recently and it was a really good experience - prompt and exceedingly courteous service, and I feel now I can trust them explicitly. There were items that were on the list to be checked on my vehicle that they easily could have told me needed to be done - and I would have been none the wiser. But they didn't - the service team told me that several items on the checklist were OK and didn't require work. That tells me a lot about their integrity. Cat has been working at Dana Meyer for a long time and she really knows her stuff. We brought in our 2009 Toyota Camry to get an inspection before a road trip. We hadn't driven it much during the pandemic, and we wanted to be sure that everything was ship shape, topped off and ready for some long miles! We had a couple of things to look at, such as a sticky parking brake and an irregular squealing sound when the car was backed up. Turns out, these two things were related. Our rear brakes were a bit rusty and so they were cleaned. The sound is gone and the parking brake works much better. The battery, which hadn't been changed since before we bought the car, also needed to be replaced. Our total came in below the initial estimate, and the Camry rides so much smoother with the tires balanced and pressure tweaked. The cabin and other filters needed to be replaced because they'd been present since before the fires the year before, and all fluids were topped off. We're so excited to be taking a short weekend trip after a year of fear and living indoors, and the drive will be so much more enjoyable knowing that our car will be ready for anything! read more

It is true that the person one of your agents did laugh at me when I called to report that after taking my car to your business I was told my car was drivable. Well you were right about that , it drove two blocks. I didn't mention this earlier but the mechanic that repaired my car did not understand why you did not figure that out that a car that was towed to your business that a battery cleaning would make it driveable. I really wish I had recorded the call of the agent that laughed at me then I would have evidence. Zero stars The transmission mechanic even told you when batteries die, it will render false codes. read more

I've been going to Dana Meyer for years, mostly because they were recommended for PT Cruisers but also because they are a local family owned business-and they did a ton of work on my PT Cruiser until finally she was no longer able to drive. (I blame the turbo.). And I continue to go there because they are reliable, prices are within reason, able to explain complex mechanical issues in laymen's terms, and friendly. And with my "new"-used and more "reliable" car, I immediately turned to them to fix'er up. My turn signal had been broken for awhile, and not only did they fix it, but they also did a full body maintenance check. When I double checked the turn signal before I left the shop, my headlight died. I told the guy at the front desk and they just so happened to have that lightbulb, so a mechanic came out and easily replaced it in less than 5 minutes. Highly recommend them to anyone in the Bay Area with an older car. Support a local business over a dealership! read more
