Part 2 of 2: Some…read moredishes I quite liked, such as Keto Grillin' (my favourite), Macro Shred, Paleo Foody, The Sea Ghost, Vegan Pump, Italian Passion, Iron Macros, and Seaside Paleo; but the majority of the dishes were so-so and not worth ordering again, and the Globe Trottin' Keto was downright nasty (I don't know if it had gone bad, but it tasted somewhat rotten). Also, the wraps were awful -- dry and bland. I initially really liked the Daybreak wrap -- it was moist, cheesy, and flavourful, but when I ordered it again, it was dry and bland like the others. Conclusion: some of their food is pretty good (for the most part, they do steak, chicken, and potato/yam mashes well), but most of it is meh, and for $12.99 to $15.99 per meal, it is not worth ordering. And if I do find something I really like, I can't always re-order it because the menu changes every week. Despite being disappointed with the majority of the dishes, I decided to place an order last week. I ordered: my favourites Keto Grillin' and Macro Shred; Grecian Keto (chicken souvlaki with cheese and zucchini fritters, cauliflower hummus, and tzatziki), Those Thighs Oh My (paprika-seasoned chicken thighs, mashed potatoes, grilled zucchini, and red onion), T-Rex Goes Hunting (beef and broccoli stir fry over brown rice), and Sexy and You Know It (blackened chicken breast over pasta with sun-dried tomato sauce). The T-Rex Goes Hunting and Sexy and You Know It dishes were quite good (I'd re-order again), but I was disappointed with the Grecian Keto and Those Thighs Oh My. That being said, would I order from them again? Probably, from time to time. However, I will not be regularly ordering from them as there aren't always dishes I like, and when I try something new, the majority of the dishes are just so-so. Not bad, but not worth the price. Give them a try, and if you like their food, awesome! Note that they only deliver on Sundays and Mondays (you must place an order by Thursday of the previous week), and the delivery fee is a very reasonable $5 for orders under $100 (free delivery over $100).

Very strange flavors. Sometimes simply is better. Also, they forced you to pay a deposit for the cool bag. and when you stop the service literally you have to contact them multiple times to get the deposit back. The website is also very confusing. definitely they need some branding and some new people working in the team to give them a different perspective.

Boring, tasteless and sad portions!). I have been disappointed with many of the services in Vancouver until I saw real meals through a simple web search. Sarah makes all the meals herself, with help from her family. She is passionate about what she does, and she believes in keeping her quality consistent. We have made three orders so far for busy work weeks. The Shepard's pie is my favourite. The soups are hearty and great portions. We are happy with the quality of food, the delivery service and the ease at which we can order online. Finally, a food delivery service that doesn't get boring after one week. My only reservation is that they still have a limited menu, but I'm sure Sarah is working on it. Support this wholesome company.

I had never used a meal service before, so was unsure what to expect. The Good - Owner was amazingly pleasant. Great service, great on the phone. Food was like grama makes and everything is organic (if you care about that sort of thing). The Bad - After going onto the website and seeing some soups I'd like, I was let down by the unavailability. I'm guessing since it's a small family gig, they can't keep stock supplies up too high, but it was a real bummer not being able to get the stuff I wanted. Hopefully once they expand a bit this won't happen. Delivery was alright. She was a bit late from the scheduled time, but it wasn't like I was going anywhere fast. This service also comes at a pretty hefty price. The soups I would skip - almost $30 for a 2L tub of soup. I understand its a small family thing and they use organic, but... coming from someone who enjoys cooking... I would just make my own for a fraction of the cost. I would do the lasagna again however. Almost same price ($25 or so) and much more filling. Good to note - if you have a man in the house, disregard the suggested portion sizes. Their "individual" lasagna is only enough for one, not two servings.

First time trying Nigerian food! Cool bar/louge vibes in Chinatown next to Keefer Bar…read more Honestly, service was SUPER slow. Waited at the door to be seated, and it took a long time for the server to come around and take our order. There were maybe 3 tables in total on a Wednesday night, and only one staff I think. Didn't check in on our table during the entire meal. Server also disappeared for latter half of the meal, so it was difficult to grab our bill. She eventually reappeared. Total for two dishes you see in the photos is $70 (pre-tip and tax). Lots of carbs and minimal meat and veggies. Dishes themselves were great! We ordered: Smokey Jollof Rice with Beef ($37.50) : beef was a little tough, but the rice and beef were very well seasoned and spiced. A bit spicy. Egusi Soup with chicken ($33.50) : not a soup in the traditional sense of the word, it's more of a paste and not liquid Heavy on the shrimp paste sort of flavour, which I don't mind. Love the texture and flavour, and we ate it with the pounded yam (served warm in plastic wrap).

However, the Vancouver location is located in a fairly sketchy part of town which may be a reason, but it is still nicely located in the midst of a lot of speakeasies. We tried the jollof rice with beef suya and the efo riro with fish served with pounded yam. We also got plantains on the side to go with the jollof rice. The jollof rice here is pretty spicy, and the beef suya is a flavorful but a bit dry. The seasoning for the beef suya is great, and it is served on the side as it is crazy spicy. I kept eating the seasoning since it was so good, but was wondering why everything tasted so spicy. The efo riro is less a soup and more a stew with spinach. It is quite delicious with the pounded yam. It is something that is out of the ordinary, and I recommend. Service can be a bit slow so be prepared for a minimum 1.5-2 hour experience. Music is terribly loud so it is almost impossible to hold a conversation. I had to ask the server to repeat things a few times since there is otherwise no way to hear, and they never turned the volume down.

I had my very first meal prep subscription experience with Gomae Meal Prep and even though their…read moremenu is strictly plant-based, I was super satisfied (both my tummy and with the whole experience). I always hear about meal prep plans and even though I love cooking, I run out of ideas. So, I am glad I got to try local and healthy lunches that kept me away from the afternoon food coma feeling! I dug into their website just a bit more and found out that they pack and delivery food from local Vancouver eateries that serve plant-based foods. Conveniently and food safe stored in refrigerator bags with massive ice packs, I was able to receive my delivery at my office. I had 4 lunches for the week and my concern was freshness. However, when I ate the last packed meal, I was extremely surprised at how the vegetables stayed fresh, crunchy and without any visible discolouration/oxidation. Also, I noticed that the flavours of each meal were strong and obvious. I didn't miss my meat at all. From coconut sauce to Korean cauliflower "wings", I kept marveling at my food (trust me, even my co-workers who bought lunch kept saying it smelled good). I actually microwaved all the bowls and I think it tasted a lot better that way. I ordered The Workshop Vegetarian Cafe's Genki Bento Box and Chunky Smoked Tofu Salad, The Rolling Cashew's Taco Rice Bowl , The Juice Truck's 'Almost' Poke Bowl. I have to say, I was impressed by the presentation of my food. The Genki Bento box had a beautiful Kabocha Squash that looked like a pumpkin. It tasted healthy and it was packed with quinoa, kale, burdock root, and housemade vegan probiotic kimchi. I was satisfied with the flavours and spice. The Chunky Smoked Tofu Salad had a strong smokey flavour even though it sat in the fridge for 4 days. The stars of the dish were the quinoa, organic and the non-gmo smoked tofu, and kale. The chickpea miso gray was mind blowing too! My absolute favourite was the Taco Rice Bowl. My first impression was that it didn't look appetizing but boy was I wrong! There was Cauliflower 'wings', Korean style Beefless Ground and Mapo Tofu. I absolutely LOVED the mushroom walnut patê spread. Safe to say, I would order this bowl again!! Everyone needs to try. The 'Almost' Poke Bowl fooled me when I opened the lid because the sesame marinated vegan ahimi aka dried tomatoes smelled like heavenly sesame oil and looked like tuna. I think this bowl was perfect if you are worried you will feel hungry because it was packed in a larger bowl and I even had trouble finishing it due to the fiber. Overall, I highly recommend Gomae Meal Prep because it saved me time and I definitely saw an improvement in my afternoon energy level. I didn't have to eat a lot to feel full and that is important as I sit everyday at an office.

I have tried almost every single menu item and can say that I have never been disappointed. My favourite Gomae vendor is definitely Juice Truck's salalds they they offer every week - the Almost Poke Bowl and the Jackfruit Taco Bowl are truly amazing. But above that, the service is absolutely amazing. There was one time they accidentally delivered one wrong meal to me and as soon as I let them know; they responded within minutes and offered to come by and swap the meal out and offered me a free meal the following week. I feel like Gomae is a company that truly cares about their customers - I just can't say enough positive things about them! I am someone who has always said over the past few years that I would NEVER do a meal delivery service but Gomae has totally changed my perspective. I look forward to every Sunday morning when I wake up and can check the Gomae menu for the following week. Gomae offers a service that I have never seen before - plant based meals from local restaurants, and ZERO WASTE reusable containers. I love that there is no waste and each week you just swap out the containers from the previous week. I will definitely continue to use Gomae and as I said, I wake up each Sunday morning looking forward to seeing the menu for the following week!

I needed to buy some of their ready-to-heat patties to bring home. I am so happy I did. She popped them in the toaster oven at 350F for 15mins and huzzah! The house smells amazing and we both get to enjoy a patty. The pastry is light and flakey while the beef is lean and flavourful. I wanted to eat another one or two, but I gotta save them to enjoy with my daughter. A five pack will set you back $15 and is well worth it. I'll be buying more and taking advantage of their delivery services.
