Not a great range on wine but reasonable. I enjoy their 'cheap bins'' it allows me to try new stuff in a way where I won't regret it and can have it aside for houseguests. I even got BIG ice cube trays here. The staff are great and they will work hard to help (at least at my store of the last 5 years) until you find something you like. Also they flatter me each time they ask for my ID. Sign up as a member, okay so the government may track your alcohol intake... ha, no negatives and sometimes you find something awesome with it. One thing I would suggest is a scrapping the flyers policy. So many flyers every week. Just print up the specials and place them around the store and onliine And stop handing out flyers for specials. Ps. Cute boys too.
Dan Murphys at Marden is a special place. I get that 'Willy Wonkas Chocolate Factory' feeling…read moreeverytime I walk in. I wish there was a waterfall of beer....I would even settle for fortified wine! This particular Dans is my favourite in Adelaide, and it isn't just because it is my local! As far as I can tell they have the biggest selection of wines and probably spirits also! The first time I walked into the store I wandered around with a mate for well over an hour, astounded at how many beverages there were that we hadn't consumed in vast quantities! Still to this day there are still more than I can count, and I try so very, very hard! Anyways, I'll make it simple. This is the place to get your grog if you live within 10kms or are swinging through, any other option is just silly pants stuff!

From the likes of Brooklyn Beer to MOA and BrewFist and the largest range of SA brews like Brew Boys, Birbecks, Steam Exchange and Goodieson (seriously no one stocks Goodieson except Goodieson) these guys must be on some kind of black market, underground trading scheme to have such variety. They run tasting events from Thursday to Sunday (which I'm going to have to schedule in). They also have a fortnightly rotating tap for filling your growler. Yep, that's right you can get your growler sterilised and filled to the brim of a beer you won't normally be able to get by the bottle. You heard me! A range of boutique, small batch SA wine makers and some interesting bottles from overseas are also available. They also have my favourite KIS Gin in stock. All in all this is the melting pot for high end, premium and rare alcoholic finds.
Living in the Goodwood area for almost three years now, I honestly don't know how I missed…read morereviewing my local bottle shop, clearly a gross oversight as this place has top reputation and the skills to match. Boasting an excellent array of wines, beers, ciders and a decent spirit selection, Goodwood cellars has the who's-who of wine in South Australia with the heavy hitters and small wineries and brewers on feature. I'm more of a wine drinker myself so my knowledge of the beer selection and ability to comment on it is somewhat redundant (but other reviewers rave, so go read there opinions!). Small wineries that had previously given me the impression of only having a cellar door for sales are prone to appearing for a limited run in store, but I enjoy this as it lets me vary up my local wine knowledge. Prices are very reasonable with monthly specials in all the major categories letting you explore the finer side of the palate without breaking the budget and favourites staying at a consistent price. The best part of this bottle shop has to be the service. The team here definitely know what they're talking about and are always willing to help. Looking for something for yourself? Tell them your preferences and they'll hunt it down (white, crisp, riesling, not sweet, about $20). Looking for a present? They'll find something to suit and impress and will keep your budget in mind (without making you feel like a cheapskate!). And if you have something specific in mind, they'll take you straight to it, saving you from wandering direction-less in those overly large bottle stores popular of late. Only down side is that the spirit section isn't overly large, so don't do what I've done before and drop into pick up Dad's favourite only to find it out of stock on Fathers' Day. That would be an ill-considered move. Oh and its an independent! So feel good about not fueling the coorporate greed whilst downing a hearty red. Nice.

Oh well, this is what Yelp is all about. Finding little gems and sharing it. Why am I so excited about this bottle shop? It might have something to do with the 400 craft beers and 2000 wines... Hells yeah! The selection is divine. This is where you will find all of the most interesting brews and vino. I love that there is a vast selection of Adelaide Hills Wines here. I have found that the wineries in the hills are selective on where they sell their wine. As for crafties, it is like a trip around the world. You will not be bored here. The store is a lot bigger than you think it is from the road. Rows and rows of glowing bottles. If you are stuck for choice (which I am sure you will be) be sure to speak to the very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They are really helpful. That is though if you're a member - of course. Membership costs $45, which I find very reasonable and average in comparison to other similar wineries. With a membership card you get around 2-4 bucks off per bottle, so if you drink a lot wine (like me), it'll save you quite some money over a years' time. The lady who ran after us was very friendly and helpful and asked us to try their Port (Tawny). Can't say no to that. These days it's a world apart, in fact strolling through the store just before Christmas I'd have to say it's one of the better seafood stores in Adelaide now - a tremendous range of fresh and snap frozen fish and seafood, and some truly beautiful prawns. Plenty of staff were on hand, partly due to the proximity to Christmas, I imagine, but they've worked out a good flowthrough for the store - and have all the associated extra's you're likely to need to prepare the produce - garlic, ginger, spices, oils, sauces, coatings abound as you approach the row of checkouts. Parking is good - for the silly season long weekends of Christmas & Easter it gets a little hectic, but otherwise there's plenty of space in the car park, even at it's busiest on Saturday mornings.
