This year I wanted to do something for my birthday, giving back to the community and I was able to organize an event for my friends to get together and do. It was amazing. We hung candy on Christmas trees for A-Kid-Again. And they were nice enough to throw in a tour of the grounds as well, which made it even more special.

They partner with other organizations occasionally, as I volunteered with Habitat for Humanity for a Give Back Cincinnati event. I like that they are looking for ways to partner with other organizations to help our city become better. I did go to their social in January, as they kicked off the new year with an open social meeting at a local brewery. I also volunteered with them in January, as their first service project was called 'back to school'. This service project focused on helping a local school turned orphanage. We painted several of the rooms and hallways, as well as cleaned up the school. Give Back went over and beyond, as they provided bagels and coffee in the morning before we worked. They welcomed everyone with a big smile! There was over 60 people at this event, so neat to see. This organization always does a social after an event. This time they met in the Hyde Park/Oakley area to say thank you to their volunteers with some drinks and appetizers. I really do think this organization does great things, and I look forward to their various service projects throughout the year. Interested? Donors Beware!!!! I was court ordered by Warren County to…read morestay at the Hope House for over a month. I witnessed the corruption of this establishment first hand. The staff regularly takes the food donations for themselves. They also go through the clothing donations and keep the best items for themselves. This was witnessed by several of the residents, on more than one occasion. Residents Beware!!! The staff treats residents very disrespectfully. This is a locked down facility which does not allow residents to leave unless two staff members sign off on the request. People were denied doctor's appointments and church outings, while I was there. It is nigh impossible to search for gainful employment while staying here. Hope House staff regularly threatens to kick people out, no matter what the weather may be or if they have another place to go. Their justification is often petty. A place that claims to show the love of Christ, fall woefully short of that aspiration.

Our twins Adrianna and…read moreVera loved participating in the program with their team of 4th grade classmates at their school! Their coaches did an amazing job and made the GOTR program so much fun! The girls learned a lot about self reflection of who they are, who they become and how they can influence others! Our girls went from being non-runners to actually enjoying running! Since starting the GOTR program we have already seen their running speed, endurance and agility increase on the soccer field during games! This was our first 5K race and it definitely won't be our last! The girls had so much fun at the end of the season celebration with their team and coaches! Thanks to GOTR Cincinnati, the schools, the coaches, the volunteers and the sponsors for making this program and 5K so much fun to participate in!

The 24-lesson Girls on the Run curriculum combines training for a 5K (3.1 miles) running event with lessons that inspire girls to become independent thinkers, enhance their problem solving skills and make healthy decisions. All of this is accomplished through an active collaboration with girls and their parents, schools, volunteers, staff, and the community. It's a great, international organization, with wonderful staff members and volunteers. Two 5k events are hosted, one in May and one in November.

The small group of us were greeted at the door and taken to the meeting room where coffee was prepared and served for us. CGM mission statement says it all. This is a faith based organization that is dedicated to showing Jesus's love to all Cincinnatians. Overall, wonderful training and insight. First: I'm a member of Southern Gateway Chorus, so you should read my review with that…read moreunderstanding. Second: I'm reviewing the member's experience of Southern Gateway. We have thousands of audience members who can review our performances. I joined SGC in 2008, because I wanted a secular place to sing. It's hard to imagine a more welcoming experience. I was encouraged to sing with the chorus at the first rehearsal I attended. They gave me an audition song to learn. My audition was sung in a quartet with 3 other experienced singers. I passed. At my induction ceremony, the whole chorus came by to shake my hand. Southern Gateway is a real brotherhood. We work hard at perfecting our craft, for 3 hours every Tuesday night. After rehearsal we get together for hot dogs, chili and beer, and sing some more, mostly in quartets. We attend each other's weddings, and we sing at member's funerals. We have several father-son groups in the chorus, and we celebrate bringing friends to sing. We compete in our district, and most years at the BHS International competition. We put on two local shows per year (Spring and Holiday), and sing at various other shows around the region. At the holidays we sing at Saengerfest, at St. Francis Seraph in OTR. We give free concerts to support music programs in schools, and help to put on a summer camp for high-school singers.
