It's crazy that this franchise lost most of it's locations over the years. I believe this location is one of only 3 Damons left in the country. The food and service is worlds better than most larger and well know comparable chain sports bar and grilles. Very clean, waitstaff is awesome except the the shift manager but don't let one bad apple spoil the bushel, food can take a little longer than average to come out, but worth the wait. I suggest trying the sweet chili wings, definitely a favorite, just wish it had more heat. Amazing burgers and desserts as well and their revolving seasonal menu is full of tasty options to keep it interesting throughout the year. The only thing i enjoyed about this place was the service. The steaks we had were overcooked and it seemed that the chef didn't want to cook it. Not a lot of restaurants in Hazleton. Damon's is by far your best option when in town. The menu has a good variety and has everything covered, from light fare to full blown calorie busters! They have a great French Onion Soup, that is offered at a nominal fee above the normal side. Well worth the additional $2. As far as the staff is concerned... really friendly and welcoming. If you stay at the Fairfield Inn, it's just a walk across the parking lot. If I were to categorize Damon's, I would describe it as a smaller version of a TGI Friday or Chili's. Had quesadillas here tonight. There was nothing in them. Most weren't even half covered. When we brought it to the manager's attention he did nothing. Just said oh you should have told me sooner. And the food is terrible! who ever the owner of this establishment is should really reconsider having this man as a manage the way he talks to customer. 2/4/2023 First, the menu online does not list the items that we ordered. My wife ordered the French onion soup and it was ok. I ordered the chili, and it was meat and three tablespoons of grease. The server told us that it was "Texas style". We both ordered the fried egg rolls. They may have been fried at one time, but they were definitely baked or microwaved when they were served to us. The service was acceptable, but if it would have been faster, we would have ordered another round of beers. The beers, Coors Light in a bottle, was good as always, and the televisions were excellent. It was actually my first time coming to this restaurant. I must say that we will definitely be returning! The menu is slightly limited, but the food was delicious. Prices can vary. If you're staying at the Marriott nearby, this restaurants location is very convenient! It's a great sports pub/restaurant that has plenty to offer for this area. The biggest positive was definitely the cleanliness. Not only was our waitress always attentive during serving, but also the hostess, Dalton. Very cool restaurant. Sports bar type. Huge TVs all around. The host was super friendly. The server Sara was super friendly and well versed on food items. Our app crab meat soft pretzel was super awesome. And came out quickly. Need more then one eater on that one. The pulled pork quesadilla was really good. Big portions there too. Prob a 3.5 but I rounded up because we had a good experience. Great place to stop on the road! We had a long drive on 81 and decided to get off at this exit and stopped at Damon's on a whim. We were very pleased. We got the veggie quesadillas and the chopped salad. I was pretty impressed with the chopped salad as I had no expectations just stopping for a salad on the road. I would get it again. It had large chunks of blue cheese, hard boiled eggs, tomatoes, red cabbage, grilled chicken and even edamame! The only thing I didn't love was the Italian dressing. A balsamic vinaigrette would have made it perfect for me. The veggie quesadillas were interesting too as they had carrots, zucchini, squash and red peppers. I hadn't thought to put carrots in a quesadilla and it was really good! Plus the portions were huge! Finally, the place was baby friendly for our one year old. The most reliable food in Hazleton. I'm not a huge sports bar guy, but it has enough screens to see any game you want, so I was expecting bar food. The food is far more grill than bar. I was in town a couple weeks and just kept going back after trying new places in the neighborhood and being disappointed. The selections are standard grille fare, except everything on the menu is just one step tastier than you expected it to be. Today it came with what looked like a Birds Eye frozen veggie mix of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Not a good combo for a quasadilla. If they were out of the usual vegetables it would have been nice to know so I could have ordered something else. My boyfriend ordered a rack of ribs. The server, Amanda, dropped of our order when it was ready and did not give us any silverware, napkins or wipes. We had to wait for hebr to come back to ask for them. She also admitted to forgetting about a side order of fries. The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because my boyfriend enjoyed the ribs. I used to love going to Damon's. You knew what to expect since it's a chain. Over my last few visits I have been so disappointed. They have become so overpriced for pre-made food. But that's not even the worst part. The service is horrible. We decided to go tonight for just drinks. We sat down at the bar which still had glasses from the previous patrons. We thought that they would clean it up when the bartender came over for our order. Well the bartender walked past us at least four times and never bothered to clean up or take our order. We sat there for 10 minutes and she took the order of the two gentlemen who came in after us. After seeing this we waited another few minutes. I finally got back to this place after not going there for 15 years. Good news, their ribs are best around but the rib eye was just bland. My biggest gripe though, they have a shit ton of TVs but all they were showing was two different football talk shows (with no audio) even though there was other sport games going on. I'm fine with that being on, I understand people want football but cmon at least show some kind of game. And when the Penn State game came on every TV was changed to that ‍, seriously you have 6 TVs on a single wall including a lot more throughout the place and you can't put on any other game??? Just left and won't be back!! My husband, daughters and I stopped in on our way home from vacation for a nice relaxing meal. The atmosphere was nice and the food was delicious. I ordered a specialty drink, which I rarely do but thought I'd treat myself. I took the first sip while the waitress was standing at our table and I immediately said it was not to my liking. It was supposed to be a sweet drink and tasted like it had whiskey or something in it. Anyways, I expected she would offer me something different but didn't. The drink sat in the same spot I left it until she gave us the bill, which had the $9.75 (ouch!) drink included on it. I politely asked her to please remove the charge and told her the drink didn't taste right to me which is why I didnt consume it. She took the bill and walked away. Shortly after her Manager, Eric Beach, walked over and began to explain that the drink could not be removed from the bill because, 'by state law alcohol cannot be comped'. Huh? I wasn't asking him to start pouring me free shots, I was simply asking him not to charge me for something I didnt like and therefore didnt drink. I then asked if I could have the number for corporate. He chuckled and said that was their only location and that they were privately owned. I then asked for the name and contact info for the owner but he said he doesn't give that PUBLIC information out. Again... Hmmmm.... I rarely complain about my food/drinks but on the rare occasion something isn't to my liking it is removed from the bill, no questions asked!! It's called customer service!!! I do want to add that although the outcome was very disappointing, I don't hold it against the waitress, who I tipped appropriately. Also, the young man who seated us was wonderful. Havent been to this chain in years and it seemed like the best option as our hotel was 5 minutes away. Typical sports bar with photos everywhere, mounted gear and 4 huge televisions. I loved seeing the old chairs from Veteran's Stadium. Unfortunately, they had chairs from the Cowpukes, Deadskins, and Stealers as well. The waitress we had was as excited as any waitress we have ever had. Obviously a cheerleader on her resume at some time in her life, she put her heart into the entire process. Maybe a little too much. The wings we ordrered were breaded - not my favorite. Okay at best. Caeasr salad on the side was weak. Dressing not good. The burger was good. Bacon, onion straws, no BBQ on side as requested but that was fine. Cooked right. French fries were good. My lady had the grilled chicken breast sandwich. This is one of two Damon's so not a chain - as close to a mom and pop as you can get I suppose - without actually being what Id call a mom and pop. The service to get a table was a bit slow as the host was fulfilling two important tasks - taking phone orders and seating folks, which didn't go over too well with me and one reason it doesn't come close to a 5 star. Our actual server was a bit knowledgeable - probably in life as well as being a server, but we managed and she was able to get our food very quickly. It's one of the last 2 locations left in the country so if you have a taste for the ribs we all once knew and loved, you have to come check them out. I could give the ribs 5 stars as they are just as I remember them and what a treat to enjoy them once again all these years later. Service ok, not bad, not amazing but typical and don't care much. Salad was average but you don't come to Damon's for salad, it just comes with it. Ribs have a nice texture, I like to char lightly and do light sauce with a side of sauce to dip in. They had good char, great sweet baby Ray's Bbq sauce tangy bursting with flavor. Garnish on the side was asparagus and again was good, not great, not bad. Bottom line is today the Ribs were a 5 star and it could be because it was like an old friend coming back into my life for 1 night or also because they did indeed fall off the bone. Food was okay. We were immediately taken to a booth by a very friendly young man that you can see takes pride in his work - service! Our drink order was taken and delivered quickly. Upon re roving our drinks we ordered our food - three salads, a rib entree with a Cesar side salad and fries. We then waited over 23 minutes for our food. The amount of food was okay, but I've been to other restaurants where it's tasted much better and you received more. The ribs fell off the bone and taste was good. I would recommend them. The ambiance is that of a sports bar - numerous screens. That is what Damon's is known for. After we were finished with our food we then proceeded to wait for our bill. The total bill was 69.xx. Absolutely horrible I will never eat here again! The service was absolutely awful and the employees were extremely rude. Once we walked in we were told that we HAD to buy a mask in order to walk to the table outside. However another gentleman walked in after us and got a table without a mask on. Once we were seated outside we waited 10 minutes for someone to come over to get our drink order and than waited another 15 minutes to get our drinks. We ordered our food and when it came out the food was completely wrong. The waitress handed me my plate and never said how hot it was I burned my hands and almost dropped the entire plate on my lap. Hmmm...I think we must be the only people who got decent service and a good meal. It was 9pm on Sunday night right after heavy rains. In fact we were pulling off the road in hopes of the storm passing before we got back on the road. We had good service...in fact our waiter even apologized for the AC being on, but was on because it was humid earlier ....he said the blowing air should stop soon. I had a southwestern salad, hubs had a club sandwich. Waiter then asked if fries was ok. The food was tasty, the fries were excellent! They were the double fried kind. So based on other reviews I've read after the fact on Google ....I really think we had the oddball experience. We had an attentive waiter, and the food was good.
