Especially since my own family of 8 siblings have all passed. I was the youngest and am now 76. Sadly, they all passed from cancer or heart disease. My dad died when I was one of heart disease. My mom was a diabetic, suffered heart disease and sadly succumbed to Alzheimers towards the end of her life. I tell all this to confirm the seriousness with which I write a review for Dr Kane and Wendy. To finally meet the most compassionate medical care practitioners is karma coming back to me for the positive energy with which I try to live my life now. Dr. Kane is a caring human being first; a doctor second. He is the first doctor who let me tell him about myself first. My thoughts and anecdotal history about my symptoms. Before he went into his medical expertise. No doctor before him has ever shown as much interest in getting to know the person behind the ailments. How refreshing to feel seen. And then really heard. Being the youngest of 9, I often felt invisible. And in those days, "children were seen and not heard." Dr. Kane explained the reasons for my symptoms regarding my right knee pain. Thankfully, it was not a recurrence of my meniscus tear from 2017. It was just a little irritation to a bit of arthritis. Thank God! Trickier is my recurring frozen shoulder. But Dr. Kane delivered what I had hoped he could. Because of breathing issues to do with one of my diseases, I should not have anesthesia. So, my shoulder will be anestathized, not me. Dr Burdick has been a great help, ordering x-rays that helped identify osteoarthritis in other parts of my body, providing pain relief injections into my seriously aching right hip, going over options for the various aches and pains, refering me to aquatherapy, which I loved and helped me get stronger without stressing my beaten-up joints, etc. Dr. Burdick does well in giving explanations. At our second or third appointment, during which I asked several questions, I explained that I was someone who was very involved with my medical care. Also, that I needed to understand things, which is why I asked so many questions. For me, better understanding increases my chances of positive change / success. Dr. Burdick not only grasped this immediately, but literally immediately began providing even more detailed information. He has never made me feel like I was bothering him or wasting his time by asking questions. I remember one of my gynecologists in St. Louis, something like 30 - 35 years ago. He was doing an exam and said I had fibrocystic breasts. I asked what that was and instead of answering, he dismissed me and said, "Don't worry about it." I found this to be paternalistic and insulting. I never went back. It was then I decided I'd never go back to a doctor who didn't answer my questions. Dr. Burdick welcomes my input and respects my decisions. He answers honestly when I ask him to weigh in on the options that have been presented. Like Dr. Morton, he laughs and smiles at my ridiculous jokes. This may seem like a silly thing to judge a doctor by, but it is important to me. I do better with doctors who will talk story with me. Dr. Burdick is part of the Physicians Clinic. When you enter from the entrance on the back side of Rehab Hospital, which is actually the main entrance, the clinic is immediately inside the door to your right, even before you get to the main desk. The waiting room, while small, is set up for physical distancing. The exam rooms are large enough to to allow for ample physical distancing.

Apparently saying this is a kiss of death with doctors as they will think you have unhealthy thoughts as to doing it locally. It was Ego issues towards me not wanting local surgery. What ever it was, he did not take heed to my lack of bowel movements. He kept saying that I would eventually go and not to worry about it. Same answer all the time until I was, by his records, over three weeks due for a bowel movement. I was still trusting him at this point. He then said he would make sure I was taken care of by Castle Medical ER department. I was turned away from my first visit to the ER and his office said they need to schedule my surgery to save my life now. I waited at home for another 5 days calling his office every morning and afternoon wondering when I would be saved from a blocked Colon. That Friday they told me that the girl scheduling me went home and I would have to call back in three days on Monday. It was at this time that I called a friend to take me to Queens ER. I was septic checking in, as per the nurses observations. I lost so much muscle, 42 pounds as well as coordination and abilities. Completely rotting in the ICU for over two weeks while they performed five surgeries to save my life. I lost my colon. I now have a bag on my hip for life which really sucks! An obvious Malpractice. I took my case to the Medial Inquiry Conciliation Panel. This is a panel that protects doctors from frivolous cases. In all of the Attorneys quotes about them is that,'' they never rule in your favor even if it is blatant.'' The panel looked at my records and the medical expert witness said that, "Dr. Kaminskas was guilty on one piece of paper. It shows that he tested you with a constipation touch test against your stomach every time you visited. It also shows him prescribing you Opiods. If it was constipation that caused this, then he is guilty on this one paper only." A very easy case to solve. I reviewed over 500 attorneys even contacting some on the mainland. I could not get the money or the attorney so I handled my case all the way to 30 days before trial. I could not afford all the fees I was getting from the Doctors Insurance Defense attorneys whom lived up to their reputation of stopping legit cases with as much paper work and BS they can throw in the way. I will say that Dr. Kaminskas was sued every year during the time that I was chasing after my law suit to settle with him legally. I do think he is a great neurosurgeon but his office apparently can not handle his patients. I think this is where I fell through the cracks. My emergency should have been the most important business during that week alone. He left me for dead. I am lucky I saved myself from their BS process.

In November 2025, I prepaid several thousand dollars for PRP injections, but after surgery the plan changed and the doctor agreed a refund was owed for injections not received. This was never disputed. Despite that, it took about six months of repeated calls, emails, and office visits to receive the refund. I was told multiple times that the refund had been processed or mailed when it had not. I am sharing this so patients can be aware of the refund process before paying large amounts upfront. Although the Dr. blamed a bad billing company, the correspondence I had was always with his office staff who were communicating with him.

He became confrontational and told me the surgery wouldn't work and that we shouldn't have done it in the first place. I went on to develop foot drop and pelvic problems. When I brought this up, he insisted it was unrelated and implied it was psychological. At my last visit, when I pressed him about the ongoing pain, he told me: "It could be the screw I put in, but we can't do anything about it now." I got a second opinion from another doctor and requested a copy of my surgical report. It showed that intraoperative nerve monitoring detected activity in the tibialis anterior and peroneus longus muscles during the surgery -- a sign of nerve irritation. The surgical notes confirm Dr. Awaya was aware of this at the time. He never disclosed it to me afterward. I still can't walk without a limp, and I've lost the ability to do many activities I used to enjoy. If you're considering spinal surgery, get a second opinion before you let this man operate on you.

I am a 58 yr old female that was a gymnast for most of my younger years into my 20's, which…read moretranslates into quite a bit of back and neck pain via degenerative discs and arthritis and facet joint pain. My PCP suggested that I see a Pain Management Specialist, which I VERY reluctantly went as I felt I'd be tied up in PT forever with a schedule revolving around Dr. visits. Needless to say, I thought I'd go for at least one apt to see where it went in terms of pain relief, especially NOT wanting to feel like I needed pain meds to survive without pain. Upon my first visit, much to my surprise, Dr. Tada's immediately recognized that much of the pain was coming from my facet joints, a term I was not familiar with. Because of my pain, he did give me a low dose synthetic opioid to take during severe pain episodes, as opposed to daily drugs and started me out in a treatment plan which included a procedure called Radio Frequency Ablatia. He determined that I needed these 15 min procedures on my lower spine and cervical neck area which needed to be done at different times. Having nothing to loose, I made the appointments and had my first procedure on my lower back. This treatment has been amazing!!! Then the additional cervical was unbelievable!! I have since then, had these procedures about once per year for about the past 5 years. Recently, I had an over the top Thais massage that stirred up my facet joint pain in so many areas that I was both dizzy and nauseated (vertigo) from the intense pain. Dr. Tada does not hand out pain meds lightly. He is more concerned about treating the pain than masking it with drugs. In this latest scenario, I was in more pain than I can remember ever being in and so he gave me a much stronger dose of meds to manage the pain until he could perform 2 ablation procedures at seperate times and then a steroid shot on a pinched nerve. Much to my surprise, I had really gone into such a pain scenario, it took days for the more intense pain meds to finally break the pain cycle, yet until the procedures could be performed I really needed them. Quite frankly, it was a bit scary to "really need" this type of pain meds, but I knew that they were a temporary solution and and I knew Dr. Tada would only keep me on them until the procedures and PT would address the actual problem as opposed to masking the problem with the meds. I was able to somewhat manage the pain with the meds and each procedure helped me need less meds. I will soon start PT and stepping down the higher doses of pain meds and work back into a well rounded exercise program and rebuild the supportive muscles needed to support the areas that have damage and work back down to less to few pain meds AND the ability to be active again. For 5 years now, Dr. Tada has been able to treat me with little pain meds and not needing them daily so that I can naturally exercise and feel great without needing drugs all of the time is priceless!! In general, I have always been active and while there are bumps in the road, for the most part Dr. Tada's treatments (Radio Frequency Ablation) has allowed me to be active again, nearly drug free with more days than not of being drug free. Again, there are some down times, but if/when I have severe downtimes, Dr. Tada works with me and addresses the situation to get me back to activity and allowing me to have an active life style. As a former gymnast who has very little patience for NOT being able to be active, Dr. Tada's treatments also work within my personality of having VERY LITTLE patience in respect to being not active for long, which translates to very speedy recovery!! Dr. Tada's methods and friendly way of explaining the situation takes away any anxiety of the pain not being treatable. 5 out of 5 star rating!!! Do t wait as long as I did to get started!!
