Co-owner Susan Geyer needs a serious attitude adjustment. The majority of employees (though sadly not all) are friendly and helpful, however Ms. Geyer is a pitiful excuse for a leadership example. I did give a 2-star rating based their inventory selection plus they offer some decent sale events, instead of the lowest 1-star which Geyer herself specifically deserves. My experience is based on years of shopping there. read more

Lots of parking, near the Hannafords. Great selections of tools and hardware to keep your home or camp going. They recently had a sale on LED lightbulbs--a 4 pack of 60W replacement bulbs went for just $2! Helpful, friendly staff who are direct and efficient and open up additional lanes for checkout when a long line forms. Bring your disposable batteries to recycle here too! read more

I have a new house in Boothbay and need to run to the hardware store everyday. I have been there three days in a row. Each day I see employees not wearing masks. This is not acceptable and I will never go into this store again. Get with it, people are dying and while Maine has low numbers, it's a matter of time. read more

This is our go to hardware store. they were very conscious about mask wearing during the pandemic (unlike some other local hardware stores) and the staff is always very helpful & friendly. They always have what I need and they have a huge selection of plants/flowers, rental equipment, housewares etc. we pop In at least once a week! read more

I have lived in town my whole life and have noticed that in the last several years, the customer service has improved so much so that now it is superlative! If I don't know exactly what I want, they are quick to brain storm with you to find the best solution to your problem. The staff clearly knows what's what and what's where! If you have a list of what you need, the person on the floor will stay with you, focus on your needs, and help you find everything thing on your list. Five stars without a doubt! read more

We walked into Damariscotta Hardware in a panic. We had driven up from Connecticut with painted pumpkins ready to enter in the Damariscotta Pumpkinfest Pumpkin Derby, but... the festival had already sold out of wheel kits. Assistant Manager Albert Lawrence was our superhero! Not only did he help us find all of the parts we needed, he made sure our racers were ready to roll before we left... saving us hours of agony and marital discord! I brought in my eight brass lanterns to be rewired, over a month ago on a Saturday. Two weeks later, I got a call that they needed two more weeks. I said no problem. No further word. After two weeks I called, assuming it might be close to time to pick them up. Twice on the call I was on hold then disconnected. Then on hold again until a man (Manager?) came on nervously. I asked whether they were ready. His reply "Yeah, we are not going to do that work". I said but I got a call... he replied "that's what you get for believing a seasonal employee"... I am dumbfounded and will NEVER patronize this store Nor recommend these bumbling jerks. read more

Damariscotta Hardware is my hometown store. I love going here and do most of my hardware/gardening/household shopping here. I've had numerous lamps repaired or rewired and they've always been done well and in a timely manner. They have a wonderful selection of everything I need, a great staff and it is a joy to avoid the big box stores and still get the things I need. This just reminds me I need to stop in and get some more vacuum cleaner bags for my old vacuum! read more

Found one of the owners to be very rude all but said they do not make mistakes and refused to stand behind there sales. Will not be returning for anything. I will drive a little further to LOWES or even HOME DEPOT where they at least care about making there customers happy even though they are a huge corporation. Very dissapointed as I would love to keep my business local but not at the exspense of my happiness. read more

TThis place is great. They offer lots of helpful services and have a great supply of all things hardware. They often have things I don't think they will. I now start here before I go anywhere else in town. Albert is my go to guy here. He even walked my wife through a problem at home with our plumbing while I was travelling and couldn't be reached.
