Lydia was very warm and welcoming and I put my trust in her to make decisions on a cut that best suits my face shape while preserving the length of my hair. My favorite part of the experience is the head massage during the hair wash session which happens in a room behind the main salon area. The room has warm yellow lighting that's relaxing, really comfortable chairs and a huge pillow to prop up your feet. My hair was so long and I was beyond annoyed with the length and definitely was in search of a new haircut. I asked my sister-in-law who she and my niece went to, and she referred me to Kayla at Sleek Salon & Spa. I submitted my inquiry on their website that night and that's where all the magic began. The inquiry was late, but I got a call from the salon mid-morning the very next day. The person who called me was so nice and answered my preliminary questions. It turned out that Kayla had availability that same day, so I jumped at the chance. - Kayla - My sister-in-law raved about her, so I was expecting no less. Kayla was super friendly when we met and asked what I had in mind. I also asked her the same out of curiosity lol... "as a hairstylist, what are you dying to do to my hair right now?" We came to an agreement (I wasn't feeling drastic this go around), but she did want to bring my hair back to a more healthy look. What I got: a haircut. She actually cut it twice, because the first time, she cut a few inches off, but I was being a little more daring and decided to cut another few inches off. I had so much hair! Due to my Asian heritage and the way Asian hair tends to behave, she suggested and asked that she reverse the process and cut my hair while it was dry, then wash and them blow dry. That was a great suggestion, because there weren't any surprises and it shows that she knows what she is doing! Result: The proof is in the pictures. I'll leave it at that. I must have lost a good 2 lbs just from the cut. It. feels. so. good. I ended up getting the leave-in conditioner that she used on my hair which was $47. A little steep, but it'll probably last me awhile. Things to note: - AVEDA products for sale only, unless AVEDA does not make a certain product. They have a mix of CBD products. - They are open late for working customers which I thought was very nice. I got an appointment at 7pm. - Stylist price varies according to education and experience. Kayla's haircut starts at $60 depending on texture and length, but my hair is in the middle, not thin and not that thick. I was charged $60, which I was so happy about because have you called around for haircuts these days? Kayla can take my money! - you can get $25 credit for referring new customers! The salon was pretty spacious too, and clean. Just a nice vibe. They don't play super loud music and play the chill vibe tunes, staying true to the word "spa" in their name. It's right next to Momo's Kitchen. They seem to cater to all ages too, because there were kids next to me getting their hair done also. My stylist was an older lady, and she was very pleasant, quick nimble with the scissors and mostly styled my hair with just her hands (I have natural waves) and used very little product. And my hair turned out better than I expected. I basically got a wolf cut with soft layers. As we talked, I found out she's had a collective of over 30 years experience cutting hair both abroad and here In the states. I can really appreciate the service she gave along with her pleasant demeanor during the whole experience I had. My husband ended up going there to get his hair cut a few days later...and I was happy with what they did to his hair as well. Very clean and styled in a way that suits his face and head shape. Not just a cookie cutter hairstyle that looks the same on everyone. This one really flattered his specific look and personality. The only downside is parking on a busy day, the lot is small and right up near a busy street. So I understand why they encourage appointments, to keep the parking lot from being crowded. So it seems like they already put some consideration into setting up a good experience for their clientele. I look forward to visiting them again in the future for a color job I want to try. All I wanted this time around was a wash, cut and style and it was decently priced and professionally done in a relatively short amount of time. I went to Heather Holland, who is advertised as a Master Stylist and Bellami Extension Certified. Unfortunately, this turned into an expensive and frustrating experience. I paid around $500 for extension services and color. Heather installed my I-tip extensions using the wrong beads, and they all fell out within days. I returned with the correct beads myself, but she used the wrong ones again, and the extensions fell out a second time resulting in a loss of extensions I had purchased for about $165, and both installations were a waste of time and money. My color also had visible foil lines--not what I expected from a "master" stylist charging top dollar. When I complained, Heather offered to replace the extensions with USED Infinity wefts that had belonged to another client who had moved to Florida and install them for me. She said they were worth around $500, and I agreed to that solution, despite feeling uncomfortable with the extensions having been previously used. Unfortunately, the scheduling problems continued. Heather acknowledged by text that her staff had given me the wrong appointment date and asked whether I wanted to cancel. I said yes, and we agreed that I would reschedule when I was ready for extensions. I was hesitant to go through the long drive and another exhausting appointment, especially because much of my previous three-hour appointment had been spent listening to her discuss personal issues involving her boyfriend. Heather agreed that I could reach out when I was ready, with no deadline imposed, and promised in writing to make things right. Now she is questioning whether she still has the replacement extensions and treating the situation as though I simply failed to show up. On October 29, I called to request an itemized receipt for my cash payments. Avery initially seemed willing to send it and confirmed that she had my email address. After a long pause, I heard a man's voice in the background that sounded like the owner, Timothy, speaking to her. She then told me the owner was not there and refused to send the receipt until he could review the matter. Weird! I cannot confirm why the receipt was withheld, but the interaction raised concerns about the handling of payment records. After the failed installations, poor color results, repeated scheduling errors, uncertainty about the agreed-upon replacement, and difficulty obtaining any receipt, I am seeking a refund of approximately $510. I expected much better service and accountability from a salon advertising this level of expertise. Beware of choosing ColorSplash, you'll most likely regret it.
