Its been such a waste of time and I can't get anyone to call me back to help me with the insurance issue or to schedule an appointment. I've been trying for two weeks at this point.

DOES NOT CARE ABOUT WOMEN…read more I was an established patient of this OB/GYN practice from approximately 2019 through February 2023. During that time, I received ongoing gynecological and oncology-related care, including significant procedures such as a LEEP procedure, cone biopsy, dilation and curettage (D&C), and related follow-up treatment. Throughout my care, I also received infertility-related counseling and treatment planning. At one point, my OB/GYN advised that I needed to improve my blood sugar control prior to being referred to infertility services. I followed this medical guidance under the supervision of my primary care provider and worked for over a year to successfully improve my blood sugar levels in preparation for continued fertility care. After February 2023, I temporarily paused active OB/GYN care while continuing to manage my health with my primary care provider. In September 2025, I attempted to re-establish care with this practice for ongoing OB/GYN and fertility-related treatment. At that time, I began experiencing repeated difficulty scheduling appointments and receiving consistent information regarding eligibility and insurance authorization. Importantly, I have maintained the same MassHealth insurance coverage throughout this entire period. I have also consistently completed the required annual referral authorization process through my primary care provider, which had previously allowed uninterrupted care with this practice for several years without issue. Beginning in 2025, however, the practice began refusing to schedule or continue care despite the same insurance coverage and authorization process that had previously been accepted. In March 2026, I contacted the billing department by phone to request my billing records and documentation of charges and payments. I was informed that the practice had recently changed billing systems and that they were unable to access my records internally. I was told my records would need to be obtained through an external or outsourced system. Despite this explanation, no billing records or documentation were provided. On May 14, 2026, I submitted a formal written request in person for my complete medical records and full billing history, including itemized charges, insurance claims, payments received, and any documentation regarding reimbursement. As of the present date, no records have been provided and no substantive response has been received. In late May 2026, I also spoke with the practice manager, who reiterated that records were not accessible internally and would need to be obtained externally. However, no follow-up or delivery of records occurred. The only written communication received from the practice was a letter dated June 3, 2026, stating that they do not participate with my current insurance plan. This letter did not address my records request, billing documentation request, or prior established care history. At this point, there remain unresolved issues involving: Lack of access to requested medical records and billing documentation Conflicting statements regarding insurance participation and payment history Sudden refusal to continue care despite a long-term prior treatment relationship Lack of clarity regarding continuity of care following multiple years of treatment, including oncology-related services This situation has resulted in an inability to obtain complete medical documentation necessary for ongoing care and follow-up with other providers.

Based on my experience, Dr. Hong-Thao Thieu is one physician I strongly recommend that women with gynecological concerns avoid. First of all, Dr. Thieu was not the gynecologist recommended by my primary care physician. I was in an urgent situation and needed an appointment as soon as possible. The doctor originally recommended to me was unavailable, so I was referred to Dr. Thieu instead. From the beginning, I found her attitude toward me extremely cold and dismissive. During the appointment, she did not seem genuinely interested in understanding my condition or asking appropriate follow-up questions. I felt very uncomfortable speaking with her because I did not feel that she was truly listening to my concerns or taking my symptoms seriously. At that point, I had already taken several different antibiotics, and there were clear concerns about antibiotic resistance. Despite this, she did not review my previous test results or carefully consider my medication history. Instead, she simply told me to take Advil. After my test results came back later that day, she prescribed an antibiotic. However, when additional test results became available, they showed that the bacteria causing my infection had multidrug resistance and was also resistant to the antibiotic Dr. Thieu had prescribed. A nurse urgently contacted her and requested that the antibiotic be changed. My situation required prompt treatment. I understand that Dr. Thieu was off that day, but in an urgent medical situation involving an antibiotic-resistant infection, I would expect a physician to respond to an important clinical message or make sure another provider handled the issue. Instead, despite the need for an immediate medication change, I received no response or help from her. In the end, the prescription I needed was provided by the gynecologist originally recommended by my primary care physician -- not by Dr. Thieu. After this experience, I would strongly encourage women with gynecological concerns to carefully consider choosing another physician. When you are sick, especially when dealing with a complicated infection, you need a doctor who listens carefully, reviews your medical history and test results, communicates appropriately, and takes timely action when your condition requires it. Unfortunately, my experience with Dr. Hong-Thao Thieu was the exact opposite. I felt ignored, dismissed, and unsupported during a time when I genuinely needed medical attention. For these reasons, I cannot recommend her.

I said I have spent the last four years seeking help for my menopause symptoms only to be dismissed or offered antidepressants. After four years of hearing things like that's just what happens when women get older or it sounds like you're dealing with some depression. It was really refreshing to have someone who actually listens and understands women's healthcare . Dr. Johnson was thoughtful, she explained everything she gave me options and did not make me feel like I was crazy she makes you feel comfortable and heard and I can't tell you how rare that is these days. I cannot recommend her enough if you're a woman in menopause and you feel like no one's listening to you Dr. Johnson is absolutely 100% the best. There are only five stars here, but I would give her more if I could.

Fertility is personal and emotional and scary but choosing the right doctor makes ALL the difference. The best decision I made was choosing Dr. Jan Shifren at Newton Wellesley Hospital. At my initial assessment, Dr. Shifren walked me through every single step of the process and answered all the questions I could come up with. It only takes a quick google search to learn she's internationally recognized as one of the top physicians in her field of expertise and she's been published in more journals than I could count. What a google search doesn't tell you is how truly wonderful she is as a person. Dr. Shifren is so thoughtful, knowledgeable, transparent, upfront and honest. I never felt rushed at our appointments (virtual and in-person) and Dr. Shifren was by my side, from start to finish. She has a truly incredible team of nurses, technicians and administrators who keep you feeling positive throughout the journey and take great care of you at each appointment. After meeting with Dr. Shifren, I worked with her billing department to understand all the financial costs associated with the procedure and they gave me a very easy to understand price breakdown. A few months after our initial appointment it was March of 2022, and I was ready to go. At that time I started working very closely with Zuzana, her incredible nurse who was by my side for the next 2 weeks walking me through the process. Zuzana and her colleagues were very quick to respond to my emails with questions or concerns and always had all the answers right away. Once the process begins, you are going into their office at NWH anywhere from 2-4 times a week for blood draws and ultrasounds. All the ultrasound technicians are great and be sure to get your blood drawn by Grace, she will make your day every time you see her. I felt really taken care of on an emotional and physical level which is what you want and what you need to get through this process. Perhaps there isn't another known solution for my irregular bleeding, but it's unacceptable to shame a patient like that. Like any drug, Birth control has side effects and women deserve to know the full truth so they can make educated choices on their own. Not be shamed or scared by their health care providers without proper information. Perhaps Sakamuri only cares to prescribe medications so she can cut herself a check. It's truly sad that myself and other women have to face this type of judgement in a space that is supposed to be safe for everyone to make informed decisions about their own bodies.

I was previously going to an OB in Brookline through B&W and I will have to say I prefer NW OBG/YN over B&W. NW OB/GYN's office is so much more inviting and relaxed and the staff here is really awesome. The wait can be long sometimes due to all of a sudden births but the staff keeps you updated and lets you know right away if there is a problem. Dr. Davis is a great doctor as well, when I first met her we went over my pregnancy, any questions I had and gave me great advice to my situation that I had. Appointments here are easy to get and the service is just great, even the nurses and the medical assistant's are wonderful as well. My previous office was so cold and uninviting that I am glad I changed and will stay at NW OB/GYN as long as I can!

Usually those are taken so you have to go to the lower parking spot and walk up a ton of stairs. There's also the option to valet which is $12 or only $4 if you have a handicap placard. To get to the lab/imaging location, when entering turn right after the check-in station, then go straight to the end of the hall and then left. You'll see a wooden desk on your right to check in. There's a small waiting room there, but also a larger room across the hall. They're not a lot of phlebotomy stalls, but they move pretty quickly. Staff are friendly and efficient. This is a good option for getting labs vs driving into Boston.
