We walked in and weren't greeted or even properly acknowledged. The only indication that he knew we…read morewere there was when he loaded a menu onto the dark screen above our heads. I asked if there was some type of combo meal, and he simply said, "No." I looked up the menu on Yelp, showed him a photo, and discovered there actually was a sampler that I was able to order. He rang up our order without speaking to us at all and then went to the back to cook the food. When he returned, I asked for sauce. He replied, "Yes," and pointed to the bag. That was the only other time he spoke to us. The entire interaction was bizarre. His demeanor was sullen, and he showed no basic courtesy or customer service. To make matters worse, one of the empanadas was almost empty, which was very disappointing. The food itself was very good, but not nearly good enough to make up for the lack of communication, poor customer service, and the uncomfortable, awkward atmosphere we both experienced throughout our visit.

They are located on exit 60 of I-24 (Old Hickory Blvd I believe) on the Shell gas station. Parking can be a little tricky on the busy hours as they also have a Mexican restaurant next door but it's definitely worth it. The lady was very nice and attentive. There were a few orders before ours but the food was made fairly fast and it was fresh. They accept cash and credit/debit card payments. My family of six came in around 12:30 on a weekday, and we got seated immediately. We tried a number of their dishes, including their arepas, empanadas, platos, and appetizers. Arepas (uh-RAY-puhs) are corn flatbreads stuffed with fillings, and here, they serve them either baked or fried. My favorite was their pabellón arepa. It takes all the components of their pabellón plate (Venezuela's national dish) and stuffs them in the arepa. The mix of savory beef, creamy cheese, and mildly sweet plantain makes for a mouthwatering, balanced meal that's so easy to crave. I'm already looking forward to coming back!
