I came to the store looking for a specific dress for my son's wedding, which I had seen on their website. When I arrived, I was told that they did not have the dress in the store and that they could not order it. As a result, I ended up choosing a different dress that was not the one I originally wanted simply because they had it available in the store. Two days later, I called and spoke with the manager. I explained that I had specifically gone to their store because I wanted that particular dress and that I wanted to order it. After a very difficult conversation, they eventually agreed to order it, but only under several terms that were unfavorable to me. I accepted those terms because, ultimately, I just wanted to have the dress I had originally chosen for such an important occasion. The dress arrived a month later than the date I had originally been given. When I went in for my fitting, the overall attitude of the staff was very unpleasant. Coincidentally, there was another customer at the store who was interested in ordering a different dress, and she was being pressured to pay for it before the dress was even ordered, without knowing how it would fit. She was wiser than I was and ultimately left the store without placing the order. The seamstress was the only person who was genuinely attentive and helpful during my fitting. Unfortunately, the attitude of the rest of the staff, including the owner, made it very clear that my presence was not welcome. At my second fitting, I was told that I would simply try on the dress, and if everything looked good, I could leave it there to be picked up another day after it had been steamed and prepared. However, when I went to pick it up, the dress was covered in loose threads and had not been steamed or properly prepared. I had to ask the person handing it to me if they could at least steam the dress before giving it to me. Regarding your response to my review, I honestly have no interest in discussing this matter with anyone else. Please let your daughter, Yanitza, know that I do not wish to receive any further messages from her regarding this issue. As far as I am concerned, this matter is closed, and I have no intention of returning to a place where I was treated poorly. I also forgot to mention that the person who assisted me on Friday when I came to pick up my dress was extremely rude to me. In addition, when she brought out my dress, she dragged it across the entire store until she reached the fitting room, when, given the length of the dress, she should have lifted it instead. If you have any doubts about what I am describing, I encourage you to review the security cameras at your location. Given the location of your store and the high prices of your dresses, I would expect a much higher standard of customer service. I strongly recommend that you provide your staff with additional training on professionalism, courtesy, and proper customer service. Once again, as far as I am concerned, I will not be returning to your store.

This will be a long one, but Brides you really need to know what you are getting yourself into when…read moreit comes to buying a wedding dress! DO NOT DO YOUR ALTERATIONS HERE. Pronovias was the third bridal shop I visited after not finding "the one" previously. I made an appointment online and sent in the names of dresses I would like to try on. I sent 7 dresses and mentioned I liked. Unfortunately, they only had 1 of those dresses in stock so it would be ideal if they just sent me a catalog of in-stock dresses to choose from. On the day of my dress appointment, I met with Daniela who was very kind and sweet. She walked me around the boutique and I tried on around 4-5 dresses. I ended up trying on the Aethra dress and loved it! I didn't say "yes to the dress" that same day as I wanted to think about it and show my mom who wasn't able to join the appointment. I purchased the dress a few days later over email and it was ordered in the sample size 10 as that is what I tried on in store. Sadly, I wouldn't see Daniela again as she ended up leaving the company shortly after. I chose to go with in-house alterations as I thought Pronovias would be best suited to alter their own gowns. This dress has a lot of beading and I imagined them pinning, cutting, customizing it to my body. The alterations flat fee costs $900 which of course sounds insane, but I thought this was normal for the work that would probably be done. I also expected exceptional service. My first alterations appointment was frankly horrible. I cannot remember her name, but this seamstress has what seemed to be zero customer service skills or empathy towards brides. My gown fit tight (still zipped) and I now realize it was probably because those sample dresses are stretched out over time. My measurements hadn't changed. At this point, the seamstress should be making suggestions and letting me know they will take it out here and fix this. Calm my nerves maybe? Absolute silence from her and she pretty much just stared at me while I awkwardly stood there. The only thing this seamstress did during that appointment was pin my waist half an inch around to remove some bunching and offer me two bustle options. Originally she wanted to put only one button which would surely snap. My dress was not and did not even need to be hemmed. ($900!!) The overskirt I ordered hadn't arrived yet and they did not tell me until I got to my appointment. I didn't say much and booked the next fitting. The second fitting I was so happy to have a new seamstress due to my last one running late. I was truly dreading the day beforehand. I also came with "reinforcements" (friends) to speak up for me if the same situation were to happen again. Once again, I try on the dress and of course it's the same situation because only the waist was changed. My friend was the one who had to ask and point out multiple times if something was going to be altered. Only then did the seamstress start cutting and pinning. Why do I have to essentially beg the seamstresses to help me? They ended up letting it out a total of about an inch on the hips and finally on pick-up day the dress fit perfectly. I feel scammed knowing that I spent $900 on "alterations" when they should have been upfront with me on how little work my dress would need. If you see that I am tall, let me know the dress won't even need be hemmed. I guess Pronovias simply only had dollar signs in mind and will happily take advantage of brides. Brides, try on the dress and take those photos to other seamstresses and ask for pricing/what work would need to be done.

QUICK NOTE FOR THE MEN: Nic del Mar is primarily a women's…read moreswimwear boutique; however, they do also have a great little men's section! Ladies, read on... Despite the fact that I had no luck in finding a swimsuit here the other day due to my own difficult fit (although I did come very close!), I had such a positive experience that I just had to share it with my fellow Yelpers. Upon walking in, I immediately felt comfortable -- the polished dark wood floors and laid-back music immediately put me at ease. The merchandise was styled, easily accessible, and well-organized. Right off the bat, I saw several cute suits from the likes of Mara Hoffman that I couldn't wait to try on! Lyanne, one-half of the two-sister duo which owns Nic del Mar, was very welcoming. She listened to what I was shopping for, and pulled nearly a dozen bikinis for me to try (as well as getting me out of my comfort zone and encouraging me to try a super cute Shoshanna one piece). She was so sweet that I felt more like I was shopping with a knowledgeable girlfriend than alone in a high-end swimwear boutique -- she definitely knew her product and her market, and she was never pushy. I also give high points for their dressing rooms: First, they gave proper lighting that is bright enough to see well and give you an accurate picture, but not so bright that it's painful to shop for bikinis (I'm looking at you, Nordstrom). Second, the mirror is unobstructed and large enough to see your entire reflection, as well as hung at the appropriate angle -- not a skinny mirror, just normal and not horrifically unflattering (ahem, Nordstrom). Let's be honest, no woman really wants to see her every flaw magnified and enlarged in fluorescent lighting... As I said, this time around I didn't have any luck finding a suit there -- larger tops can be extremely difficult in cute suits. As also previously stated though, I did come VERY close, so busty gals need not stay away! Especially since they also have a great selection of cute cover-ups and other cotton-y goods. Side note: Yelpers who check in at Nic del Mar will be treated to a pleasant surprise ;) Lyanne also told me about some of the lines that she has coming in for spring and summer that might be a better fit for me, and encouraged me to leave my contact information in their guest book so that she could let me know when they got new merchandise to better suit my needs. There's also have an excellent online store if you don't feel like making the trip. All in all, I would definitely recommend Nic del Mar to anyone looking for a great swimsuit!
