Located in a gorgeous old 17th century house this pub oozes charm inside and out. We stopped here for lunch on our way to the Lake District and loved it. The Wheatsheaf Inn has been serving Beer and Food to visitors, sightseers and locals alike since 1609. The menu is a classic pub menu and has pies, fish and chips and other such pub classics. They also have a good selection of vegetarian / vegan dishes. The bitter here is good and they have 2-3 on draught. The fish and chips were a decent portion with homemade tartare sauce and good thick chips. It was light crispy and well cooked on the inside. Happily stop here again for a meal. It's a gorgeous old pub that has been updated and service is nice and friendly. Prices are also reasonable for the area.

To be honest one portion of fish and chips are ample for myself and my better half. The fish is always piping hot, moist and delicious and of course the chips are exceptional. As my older two children have grown up, we just go with our youngest who always opts for the kids box and is always quite full after.
