My sister and I happened across this shop. It's precious with clever things for the home, beach, yard, and gifts for weddings and babies.

No one greeted us and no employee was at the register nor in the store portion the whole time we…read morewere there. I guess I wasn't very clear on what to expect after looking at their website before my visit. I much enjoy the Artists' Guild shop at Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll or Glynn Visual Arts on SSI and I had the impression that this would be Brunswick's version of those handmade art stores, but it wasn't. There was a paint-your-prefab-ceramics class going on in the back studio and people gathered around a table in the cafe making a craft or something. I know these are popular with certain people but Build-a-Bear type ceramics are not for me. The store portion is laid out much like an Anthropologie vibe, made to look like everything is precious and "deep." Merch was more crafty than artsy, like Etsy as a shop, with Etsy prices. All artsy-looking commercially produced goods or handicrafts rather than actual art--I saw no OOAK items in the shop, nothing actually handmade either unless the bead earrings were handmade on a loom but again, identical duplicates of them. It seemed like everything had to be a certain matching aesthetic and be a similar BoHo Brooklyn "Beige Mom" style. Brunswick can be diverse for those who embrace it, so the store name "Makers BWK" is a little misleading in that sense. When I think "Southern" + "art" I go to folk art or Gullah crafts, memory quilts, face jugs, etc. I get it if that's too traditional and established for the under-35s, but Brooklyn BoHo? I guess it's a novelty this far from NYC. Also, as you can see in my pictures, there was no coastal art representation for the Golden Isles. Unlike the Artists' Guild shop at Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll or Glynn Visual Arts on SSI, it just seems like there is no sense of locality infused in any of the products Makers BWK had. They mention goods from Haiti online so I appreciate if those are Fair Trade but there was nothing to explain what was local. The craft market candles? The mass-produced sketchbooks? Jewelry, candles, soap, cards, sketchbooks, random snacks... again, not OOAK original art. It is what it is, and good for those who like it. It's artsy craft market stuff. It's just not for me and was frustrating to waste time to visit when online it seemed depicted as actual art for sale.

I love this store and the story behind it! The owners are amazing and their journey is admirable…read more They have a delightful shop with many local items and items from Haiti. They also have a great artist studio and offer classes and open studio time. It's always a must stop when I'm in town! Def recommend!

I laughed so hard and was so happy to have found this wonderful store with such amazing people! I can't wait to come back to this island and this store! I hope the world finds this store like I did!!!! they made me feel like I was the most important customer and that alone earned five stars! add to it the amazing people and stunning specimens and it was the most amazing experience!!!! thank you to all who work here!!!!

We had stopped around the corner for a brewery and I saw all the shops of Redfern Village and decided to turn in and I cannot resist a Crystal store! I saw the name and ohh-ahh'd and pulled into a parking spot. It was raining, so we hustled out of the car and then had to run back for required masks. I lapped the store twice picking up various crystals and had to restrain myself greatly! Prices were excellent and I loved the huge selection! It's a small store and surprisingly busy even with the rain- but as often as customers were walking in- some were exiting with their new purchases. I bought a gorgeous piece of malachite- polished on one side and raw stone on the other. I also found a point of ruby zoisite that I couldn't resist- they had several amazing pieces of this stone that I wanted to scoop up! I think I also grabbed some Santo Palo for the house & a couple of candles. They have an extensive selection of semi-precious stones, polished and raw, candles, tarot cards, jewelry, smudging tools and more! Over-all- great shopping experience and I will be sure to pop back in next time I visit the island!

One of my favorite restaurants on the island! Excellent and very tasty food and drink options…read more Always a couple of excellent vegetarian or gluten free options. Cocktails are beautifully presented, esp recommend the lemon drop martini. It's in a converted Ponderosa Steak House location so that's a little weird, but they've upgraded it as well as possible. Store on left side of cafe also has nice gift options and outstanding choices of flavored olive oils and vinegars.

Tried Golden Isles Olive Oil on a Tuesday as my wife saw an online Tuesday wine tasting $5 cover…read moreand made a reservation on Open Table. We sat at the bar but learned the Tuesday special was a flight of three bartender choice wines 2 oz pours for $15. Evidently the Wine tasting thing was not current. We've seen many restaurants don't update their web site so it's always a gamble when you show up. Not sure if it was an open table thing or the restaurant. Either way we enjoy wine so my wife ordered a red flight and I ordered a $6 happy hour Italian Pinot Noir. The Pinot was fine and decent pour and my wife sampled the flight. One of the wines was a little off and we both thought it may have soured. She mentioned it to the bartender and he shrugged it off and said it wasn't an old bottle. Mentioned it again and no big deal. Might have been nice to at least offer something else. I'd recommend ordering a glass of what you like rather than waste the $15. For dinner I wanted to try the seared pork ribeye but they were out of stock so I settled for the short rib sandwich on ciabatta bread. My wife ordered the beet and goat cheese salad which she enjoyed and thought was fine. The short rib sandwich was tasty enough but the bread was soft like it came out of a plastic bag. I was hoping for a better quality bread which is important for a sandwich. It wasn't something I would order again. Overall it's a really quaint place with isles of olive oil and items to purchase but the experience was a 2.0 and the food average 3.0 at best. I really expected a bit more especially from the look and feel of the place. Not sure I could get around to wanting to go back to try anything else on the menu. Bartender was nice but overall just not a good experience after a long day of work. I feel bad to leave an unsatisfactory score but I upped my 2.0 to 3.0 as ratings are important and it's probably at least a 3.0.
