The store was laid out well, clothes right inside as those are always a big draw at thrift shops. Beside clothes are electronics and furniture. Beyond that are housewares, toys, and other misc items. All departmented, well organized and tidy. Visiting Jekyll, I was in need of extra baking dishes for Xmas dinner. I found one here as well as carved wood piece to add to an art project I'm working on, a sculpture to donate to a charity auction I help, and a $1 Wild Republic stuffed owl that I actually had in my Amazon cart for $30! At checkout I met another Philly native who was very positive and friendly. He informed me more about the store and its functions, and made me feel very welcome and appreciated. Very good experience! I did not look long at any department other than bakeware but this was a medium-sized store with a decent volume of items. Visiting Jekyll, I was in need of extra baking dishes for Xmas dinner. Every year our rentals never have enough. I did find a glass bread baking dish, which wasn't exactly what I needed but close enough. Shelves looked sparse but it could've been the time of year. There were a lot of people there shopping. I had never been to a thrift store so close to Christmas so idk if it was for gifts or something like last-minute spare housewares like I needed? My quest turned into a curiosity to just seek out each thrift store to review so I know where to go next time this happens at my rental house. The associates at Hello Goodbuy were not friendly, neither greeting us when we walked in, nor when I asked if they knew if they had any bundt pans. Everyone had a southern accent and was white. We felt seen as outsiders, as happens in certain places around here. Intended or not, they came off like that kind of place. There were a lot of clothes and other knick-knacks, and some furniture. It was organized but felt very cramped and things were outdated in a worn 5-10yo way, not a cool vintage way. I left after a look at a small section that had anything resembling bakeware. Not much for kitchen, and nothing I needed. I always appreciate the mission of a thrift store, but this one felt so fundamentally (unwelcoming) different from ones like Gather or Goodwill where I saw all kinds of people shopping, and I felt very uncomfortable.

There were few price tags on anything, and (after asking) everything was crazy overpriced. $15-$20 for a 3oz bar of soap? $5-$20 for a stick of lip balm? $8 for a golf ball size squishy toy? Wow, no thank you. Handmade Amish goat milk soap in Lancaster Co. near me is $4 for the same size. I'd rather support a family-owned local business at 1/5 the cost. But this is no different from most Hallmark stores. It just isn't really popular in a city like Brunswick where most people do not have much disposable income. I was there 20min and no other shoppers visited the whole time.
