Came here on vacation over the weekend and my date and I had a typical soft serve large vanilla cone at around 9pm. No sooner than 40 minutes passed before we both were hit with a bout of food poisoning almost simultaneously. I know it had come from the ice cream and nothing we ate prior as she had pizza earlier on and with me avoiding carbs I went to some greek place for a salad. We both endured a 15 minute uncomfortable walk (or should I say sprint?) with only a single toilet to share in our room.
I'm very familiar with what can happen when dairy soft serve machines are contaminated with bacteria if they are not properly flushed out DAILY with hot water, as my uncle used to serve soft serve ice cream in the summertime at his pizza place in Florida and this was the protocol to keep your patrons from falling sick.
I'm puzzled as to how health inspectors in New Jersey allow them to get away with this or even the Dairy Queen franchise, as it's an embarrassing reflection onto the company as a whole. You want to be able to trust the name, Dairy Queen, but this Dairy queen forced this King to sit on his throne for nearly an hour rather than enjoy himself out on a Saturday night.
I'm not sure what steps of proper decontamination they are following at this establishment but I intend to reach out to corporate and let them know of my recent experience beyond this review. read more
