Wife ordered a drink (can't remember the name) and I ordered a pina colada, strangely they both tasted exactly the same. Other than that the food was great. My wife wanted to stay home at the rental and half a quiet day by herself. My youngest and I decided to join them for lunch on the way to our other adventures for the day. It was kind of hot inside, but the fan in the back kept us comfortable enough. The highlight of my meal was a delicious banana colada. Once I learned to drink it slowly to prevent brain freeze, I really enjoyed it. I had a patty melt with fries. It was really good and a welcome change from seafood. This restaurant does not have many seafood items on the menu. It is mostly burgers and such. We went back with the whole family another night for dinner. It was crowded, loud, and hotter than Hell! I really enjoyed my banana colada, but my ahi tuna tacos were not good. The tuna seemed more like chewy tasteless shark meat to me. If it really was ahi tuna, they ruined it. Everyone else was happy with their meals. My wife who does not like seafood of any kind, had steak bites, which she really liked. The music here is mostly 80's, which was fun, but they really need to work on the AC. We grabbed more drinks and moved out to the play area and deck out back after eating. It was actually cooler back there! The baby played for a while, and we left. I think it is a fun venue for a beach location. It just needs to be cooler. And, skip the ahi tuna tacos.

After a brisk walk we arrived and checked in...they have a side window where you can order some adult drinks while you wait to be seated. Wait time was not bad at all. We were sat in the back outside where we had views of the water and the passing boats while we enjoyed our food and drinks. I had a grilled chicken and it was well cooked, the fish and shrimp was a lil bit on the crusty side...their meat to breading ratio is more on the breading side. I also had a large Pina colada made with a real pineapple...it was alright, could have used some more rum. All in all it was a nice experience...especially being by the water. I will come back for the relaxation and views...

And keep in mind, this was a Thursday night, the restaurant was practically empty, and somehow the entire place had the energy of a staff meeting nobody wanted to attend. But we had our hearts set on some pineapple piña coladas, and the reviews gave us hope, so we decided to stick it out. Thankfully, our waiter came through like the MVP of the evening! Friendly, attentive, and genuinely happy to be there. Somebody give this man a raise because he was carrying the hospitality department on his back! Now, onto the food! Seafood Gumbo -- 4/5: A solid start! Good flavor and a nice way to kick things off. Fried Pickles & Jalapeños -- 5/5: Absolutely delicious! Crispy, flavorful, and dangerous enough to make you forget about the awkward welcome. These were the real MVPs of the appetizer round! Fried Shrimp & Fish Platter -- 5/5: I'm not even a huge fan of fried food, but this platter had me reconsidering my entire personality. The seafood was absolutely amazing and definitely the highlight of the meal! Pineapple Piña Coladas -- 3/5: We came in with high hopes, but the drinks were a little underwhelming. Not terrible, just not the tropical vacation in a glass we were dreaming about. The Final Verdict: The food was genuinely good, and our waiter was fantastic. Unfortunately, the overall atmosphere felt like everyone was counting down the minutes until they could clock out. Nobody seemed particularly excited to be there, and the vibe was deader than a pineapple left in the sun. Maybe we caught them on an off night, and I certainly hope that's the case. The food deserves better than the customer service and atmosphere we experienced. Would I come back? Honestly, for that fried shrimp and fish platter, I'd consider it! But next time, I'm hoping for great food, great drinks, and a staff that looks like they haven't just lost a bet. Because good seafood can bring you in, but good hospitality is what brings you back!

We came inside and immediately were greeted by waitstaff, and sat at a table. Then, after taking our drink orders and bringing it out, our two year old quickly waged battle with his mother's big, tall cup of sprite, throwing it across the table and it landing across his grandmother and the floor and table. The waiter was the sweetest, kindest and most understanding waiter I've ever met, and quickly took care of it, sat us at another table, and we continued with the evening. Our food was absolutely delicious. We had: Children's Mac & cheese, side of pulled pork, fries. Sausage plate with broccoli, and Brussels sprouts. A beef burger that was made with quite a few customizations and fries. Friend shrimp plate with fries. The food was absolutely fresh, hot and amazing!!! We immediately told our waiter (from Jamaica?) how happy we were and tipped him very well, and we will be back! I recommend this to anyone that wants good, hearty food, with a laid-back atmosphere on the island!

With a group of 5, it hit everyone's wish list from seafood, to barbecue, and fried chicken. I HAVE to mention the fried chicken plate. Wow! Once I saw a server pass by with it, I immediately regretted not ordering it myself, although it is massive and I could never have finished it myself. Luckily, someone in our party did and shared and yes- it was as amazing as it looked. We enjoyed our own plates, yes, but nothing beat the fried chicken!

This was the perfect place for a good variety of sweet and savory brunch options. I also tried the chilaquiles which were phenomenal! As the Chief Funding Officer for the trip, I wasn't looking too forward to this one. The food sounded great. The drinks sounded great. The prices? They seemed a little inflated compared to other restaurants on the island. It was, however, a bit more upscale. Once again, I can not tell you what everyone had. Our very talented and experienced server rattled off some amazing sounding specials, and I know some of them were selected. I chose the shrimp and grits. That is one of my favorite shrimp dishes thanks to my sister in law who makes a wonderful version of them. When the server told me these would be the best I had ever tried, I told him that I would be the judge and would measure them against hers. What I was served as shrimp and grits was nothing like I expected. Tortuga's makes a batch of very flavorful grits, puts them in a loaf pan, chills them, slices them, and fries them. Then they top those with perfectly cooked shrimp in an amazingly delicious sauce. The entire dish was absolutely stunning, but I still won't call that "shrimp and grits". Sarah, you're still number one. Most of the family had a craft cocktail or two with the meal. When I saw the bill, I was just a bit shocked that it was so high. But in all honesty, as a vacation opener, it was more than worth it. It was so good that we planned to come back for the brunch later during the trip. We didn't because the brunch time didn't fit in with the baby's schedule. Oh... one last thing. My son and I shared a dozen and a half fresh oysters on the half shell. They were truly delicious. However, they were the tiniest little oysters I have ever been served. They were also very gritty with several pieces of shell in them. If I had seen them first, I would never have paid $36 a dozen for them. I wish I had a photo. I'll ask my son if he got one and add it later, if he did.
