The waitresses are great, always smiling, fast, efficient, and down to earth! Great atmosphere and very quick service. If your looking for a quick and yummy meal this is the place! Both locations are great food wise, though the Hammond location can be very uncomfortable if it is busy, as there is not a lot of room in the middle of the dinning room! The employees do a good job assembling the subs ... and are pleasant enough. Not sure what else to expect - when I want a sub sandwich, this place does a great job! I've eaten at Mr. Submarine stores all over Canada, this one has never disappointed me if all Im expecting is a Mr. Submarine sub. Same goes for the other store Dennis owns in the mall. Both are good quality, fresh ingredients and clean. I'm actually fairly puzzled and a little shocked by the asinine, ignorant comments I read in the other review about the servers. I can't imagine how horrified and hurt the employees would be if they read that review. How does he get away with that kind of hateful crap on Yelp?

The food was typical Mr. Sub at my most recent visit but I remember avoiding Mr. Sub my whole life because of how terrible it was in North Bay. I didn't learn to trust it again until I moved to Toronto and tried a Mr. Sub here. Apparently they do actually make decent subs. Although their cheese is consistently nasty. Yekgh! The location in North Bay is also dingy and dirty. Absolute last resort. It doesn't deserve to share Algonquin Ave with the delicious delicious Submarine Place north-bound from here.

Compared to the "Asian" noodle dish I had at the office's cafeteria, it was glorious. Sometimes, it's all relative. Would I come back here if I find myself back in the area...yes - to get my Asian food fix. They also serve alcohol, which is a huge plus after a long day. I'm not sure which parking lot we should have parked in, but there was plenty of parking in the lot either side of the building. One lot is for a hardware store and I think the other lot is for the medical center. I was just glad to see our car was still in the hardware store lot after dinner. The place was empty when we rolled in. I think a lot of people opt for pick up or delivery since the ambiance isn't that inviting. There were plenty of tables to accommodate large groups of people. They had a chalkboard displaying display specials by the entrance to the dining area. It was a couple bucks off the usual price of the dish. I went with Thursday's special - Poon Ped with rice for $11. It was a chicken dish with onion, celery, broccoli, baby corn, and green peppers in a spicy sauce. It was spicy, but not overly spicy. The sauce was good, nothing exciting. All the veggies were fresh and crunchy. Although they have mixed drinks on the menu, they only offer wine and beer. The lady working here was very nice. Our check came with fortune cookies and Little Debbie Oatmeal Creme Pies. I thought it was a nice little end to dinner.

Day one was a nice grilled pesto chicken wrap with goat cheese, but it was the southwest corn chowder that ruled the meal. Less hungry on day two, so I only bought the red lentil and apricot soup. Weirdly sweet starting out (what did I expect?!), but it soon settled into a complex mix of flavours, and was incredibly satisfying on a chilly northern Ontario day. I don't expect to be back this way anytime soon, but will certainly return here to dine again when I do.
