The Old Bank. Wow. What to say about this place? Definitely a dive bar. The crowd varies a lot…read moredepending upon when you go there. Weekend afternoons, it's typically a mix of bikers, tourists, and the boating crowd, with a sprinkling of locals blended in for flavor. Don't let the biker thing scare you - these aren't kitten-shanking, hell-raising hard core bikers we're talking about, but middle-age Harley enthusiasts who are far more likely to spend their days running construction crews or spreadsheets than drugs. Ok place to take your family for a quick burger in the afternoon or evening. After 9:00 pm, the bros take over, especially weekends, and you're better off finding someplace else. The interior is definitely worn to a fine patina, and decorated with typical bar kitsch and local memorabilia. There is a pool table, a few dartboards, some arcade games, a bunch of TV screens and a jukebox to break the routine, if you're determined to make an evening of it. They offer a full bar, and that includes several beers on tap. The help is friendly - most of them have been there forever. They do a pretty good job, but things do get busy sometimes. The menu is modest - all pretty much your typical bar and grill food. Feeds the need, but nothing to write home about. The burgers, for all that, are actually pretty good, and I'd probably call them the highlight. The ground beef comes from Huettl's Meats, our local butcher shop that's just up the street, rather than a shrink-wrapped plastic tube of god knows what from some restaurant supplier. The kitchen is open late, which is a good thing in a town where pretty much all the eateries close at 8 or 9 pm, and your only other choice is the gas station convenience store heat lamp buffet.

What a fun night we had the people are so friendly, and the bartender was the best, I will…read moredefinitely be back.

This was our first time visiting so we didn't know where to go for lunch. Browsing yelp and the internet, we decided on Bluffside Grill. Their menu and prices are what drew us in. It is located at the Jewel Golf club, so you park in the same parking lot. Upon arrival, there is hand sanitizer available and all the tables are socially distanced. They do have outdoor seating available with beautiful views of the golf course but it is shaded so it might get a little chilly. They have a simple lunch menu with some appetizers, salads and sandwiches. I started off with their beer cheese soup. It comes with popcorn which is a must for beer cheese soup. It was delicious!! Some of the better soup I've had in awhile. Next I had the hickory burger and fries. It was so good! They have the battered kind of fries making them extra crunchy and tasty. The burger itself was flavorful and just what a burger should taste like. The cheese perfectly melted, bacon perfectly crispy, and the sweet bbq sauce to top it off. Be sure to add onions on this one if you like them. Service was excellent and the prices were very affordable. I love when you find places like this that hit above and beyond your expectations. Great burger and sandwich place.

The two of us opted for the grandest option of All You Can Eat, which included a choice of potato, shrimp, and the salad bar. The salad bar area is small and rather crammed to the side of a back dining room, but it absolutely delighted me. There were rolls and butter pats, and a whole array of salads that felt like the same mix you'd find at a great Midwest potluck. I sampled several, but I absolutely LOVED the broccoli bacon salad and the Snickers salad! My husband opted for the simple lettuce salad with croutons. Service was consistently slow during our visit, just as a matter of timing--they looked short-staffed during the lunch rush, and the workers were being run off their feet! They were moving nonstop. I had broiled fish with shrimp and a baked potato. Perfectly cooked, flavorful fish. I loved the breading on the shrimp. I had butter and sour cream along with my potato. I didn't get seconds. My husband had the standard fried fish, shrimp, and fries, and really enjoyed them, and he did request a few more pieces of fish. They came out, piping hot. I want to come back here sometime and try the pie!
