Small Butterfinger Blizzard
Jonathan S.

Stopped in this Dairy Queen in Sutherland to use the restroom and get a Butterfinger Blizzard as a treat while I wait for my car to charge. Restrooms are small and decently clean for a fast food restaurant. Around 8pm, there were quite a few people charging their cars at the Electrify America Charging Station in their parking lot. There was also a fair amount of people in/out of the restaurant. There were a fair amount of workers, but I waited about 5 minutes before my order was taken. The whole time I was waiting, no one acknowledged me to let me which is pretty poor service. Once my order was taken, the blizzard did come out fairly quickly. The guy making the shakes and blizzards was probably the hardest worker in there. Overall, it's a decent place to grab some food while driving through the area or while your EV is charging.

This little dumb I-5 town has one of the best DQ's I've ever been to. The local teenagers that seem to hang out here every time I pass through are little annoying, but who cares? I'm here for 15 minutes max. Just enough time to scarf a burger and get a blizzard. Did somebody say blizzard? Oh yea.. I did! They make the best blizzards here. The are packed full of toppings, and are mixed thoroughly, so you won't get any plan white spots as you near the bottom. Next time you're passing through, pull over, fuel up, and grab a blizzard.

I hate being on the road and forced to stop for fast food but when it do I generally lean toward DQ because most locations serve great crispy chicken. However, this location did not! Tuesday, August 8th I went through the drive thru of this location and ordered 6pc Chicken Strip Basket. The chicken was so dry & salty.. it's terrible!!! It came with toasted bread which was soaked in nasty fake butter & fries. The fries were fine but I do have to say the most fulfilling was the drink.Ice cold Coca~Cola. I mean how can you go wrong with that? I only wish the food was better. I fortunately didn't have the horrible service experience that others had. The gal at the speaker & window seemed friendly enough also, kind and helpful.

Maybe if you paid people a competitive wage they would want to work for you.

American capitalist who doesn't understand supply and demand. Offer people a competitive salary and then maybe they'd want to work here. But I'll pass on giving you any of my government handout money. Wouldn't want to offend you with it.

We only picked up a blizzard on our way back, but it was very well made, and the service and restaurant were, again, in top condition.

Ice cream came before my food, I mentioned I would be driving so to get the ice cream in a bowl (which I did) but it was a hot day and since I was waiting for my meal, I had to eat my ice cream first. So I was a bit full when my meal came The cheeseburger was really good, I was happy with it! The steak fries lacked seasoning, like there was none on the fries, so I ate a few then got over it. The jalapeño poppers were the same, nothing great, I ate one then tossed them. The ranch I added to my meal looked promising, it was thick, so thick that you couldn't dip your food into it, you had to scoop it, also lacked flavor. The ice cream was the big winner, I'll stop by just for that, not the food so much,

A burger is $7 bucks the no fries, that's another 3.25, which if you think about - it's still WAY cheaper than McDonald's. And it's fresh, not frozen. The ice cream and shakes were delicious. The food was delicious. The ladies were courteous and the service was great- considering there's only a few of them working. You can sit in their shaded patio and enjoy. Con: No bathroom. So go before you head here. Maybe put a few port-o-John's and it'll be great. Overall- I'd come back if in the area.

We're talking early 80s... a whole different world. You had folks still hanging on to the 70s like it owed them money bell-bottoms, wild personalities, and people that were just downright funny without even trying. I swear, half the entertainment wasn't even the ice cream, it was just sitting there watching humanity stroll by in all its glory. But let's not get it twisted the ice cream absolutely hits the spot. This is that soul food for the student grind. When studying runs too long, when the day's been rough, when the Oregon heat sneaks up on you, or when you just need a little reset... this is the place. Scoop after scoop, flavor after flavor, it never lets you down. And being right there by the University of Oregon? Come on. There's just something about grabbing a cone on campus that feels right. Timeless. Like it belongs there. Customer service has always been solid, the vibe is iconic, and the whole place carries this charm that refuses to fade. Some things change over the years... this place just keeps being exactly what it should be. Five stars. Always has been. Go Ducks !!
