When I first pulled in, I noticed the health certificate as a 90! As a professional in the food service field for many years, it is known that a score that low means that the facility is not up the standards, not sanitary, and could be dangerous. This is a great roadside restaurant with an outdoor walk up window. One side is for ice cream and other for burgers and food. Your order gets written down on a paper bag and you wait right there on the sidewalk (or at your car) for your name to be called. There are not any tables or anywhere to sit, and there are no public restrooms, but you can either take it to go, sit in your car, or go right across the street and down the block to the waterfront park with lots of benches and areas to picnic. You can't go wrong with a combo of burger, fries and milk shake but it is worthy of note that it is still CASH ONLY as of our last visit. read more

Walked up and ordered burgers and soft serve ice cream cones. Made to order burger was good - much better than fast food and the cones were delicious and very generous in size. Given the dramatic rise in covid cases in NC. It is unacceptable that food handling employees here refuse to wear their mask on their face vs. Just letting them hang from their chin. Come to visit family a couple of times a year from Massachusetts and love this place on a hot summer night. We only have tried the ice cream - the sundaes are outstanding- I love the butterscotch and my husband gets the strawberry. My daughter doesn't like ice cream so she gets their "icy" soda. They use crushed ice and makes the soda like a slush and she loves it. Prices are low too! Would of been a 5 star but I think their milkshakes need a little more flavor. The place is nothing fancy the menu is on a board at the window. You order from a walk up window outside . The girl writes your order on a white paper bag and thats the bag your order is placed in. There are no seats outside to sit on and eat but the Washington waterfront is just a block away and you can find somewhere to sit there or sit in your car and enjoy the view while you eat. read more

You park your car, order from one of the hairy-chinned ladies at the window, and enjoy a fairly tasty bit of chow. Try a grilled cheese sandwich or a hot fudge sundae. The only seating is a rickety picnic table, so most people dine on their dashboards or tailgates. As far as I know, there are no restrooms. Either way, this is one of the few eateries in Washington that has managed to stay in business as long as I've been alive. Perhaps that's for a reason. read more

We came to the Beaufort County area for vacation on our 5th wedding anniversary. We are from Massachusetts and love coastal North Carolina. We stayed in Bath but unfortunately there were no ice cream places in Bath to choose from. Thankfully this place was right next door and had great hours (open till 11pm on a Saturday) and we hopped over. When the woman came to the window to take our order, I asked if they had waffle cones. No. I asked if they had dips- no. I asked if they had sprinkles-no. "What are your flavors?" And she replied- vanilla, chocolate, strawberry. There may have been coffee but I can't remember. I asked what the hard ice cream flavors were listed- she said they had none, just soft. Oh okay, that was fine with me but nothing like the local ice cream joints up in MA! (They are loaded with flavors and creative toppings and sundae options) I settled on the classic hot fudge sundae. Very good, but the soft serve lacked the vanilla, creamy flavor I am so used to. Theirs is just icy and sweet. However, loaded it with walnuts and hot fudge so 2 thumbs up for that. But don't advertise yourselves as "dairy palace" when your options are so limited! read more
