Hot pot with Tum Yum broth
    Jodi N.

I primarily went here for the hotpot. Food: it is ok. Not the best or worst but it is ok. At the time, they only had one hot pot flavor which was Tom Yum. The broth itself needs more seasoning. It is a mild flavor of the Tom yum. In terms of the veggies, they didn't skimp out quantity, but they certainly skimped out on the variety. There's no tofu, lotus, chrysanthemum, enoki mushrooms, fish cakes, corn, etc. They only had bean sprouts, SOME bok choy, white mushrooms, green onions and nappa cabbage. In terms of protein, they had shrimp, beef, squid, and mussels. Portion wise- I think they rationed it out well especially that it is an "all you can eat" type of meal. I don't mind the rationing. It is a good business tactic. The owner was very kind and helpful. He was attentive and thorough about explaining to those who don't know how hotpot works. In terms of flavor, the hotpot gets a 3/5, but the service was an easy 5/5. It's enough for me to come back and try other things on the menu. The decor and dishware inside the restaurant is very plain. Their table and chairs are basic. A foldable chair and foldable table. They should add more decoration inside to add some ambiance to it and give it a restaurant scenery.

GAMERS STAND UP! fun fact, i love gaming. i have my own PC. add me on steam if u real about it. finally went to @daikoncafe. did not have the hotpot yet but DONT WORRY I WILL BE BACK! y'all i love this place. my brother-in-law competes in gaming competitions with some of the employees. they are so real about it! they had on the video game awards. it's the perfect spot for a D&D campaign! they even have specials for it. it's spacious to bring your friends for some gaming and hotpot! we started with the crab rangoon and dumplings . we all agree that these are THE BEST crab rangoons ever sometimes i be exaggerating. i'm dramatic! i'm a scorpio! but i seriously suggest making your way here. i ordered the pad thai with beef and it was probably the best i've had. beef was so tender and juicy. the daikon fried rice is so GOOD. look at that runny egg! the highlight was def the udon curry. my spouse was going the get the curry on the menu but our sever suggested something on the "secret menu ". handmade udon noodles in a curry broth. sweet, spicy, and oh so good! we will be back for that kimchi hotpot [it was sold out]. we will probably be back for a #dungeonsanddragons campaign tbh.

One of the worst Korean BBQ experiences I've come across…read more With my party of 4 and visiting the city, we were first timers to KPOT. We were informed it was a BBQ/Hot pot establishment, but had the option on choosing one of the two options. My group requested just BBQ and we were given an iPad to order. I did not see appetizers besides white rice and asked our server if there were appetizers. Our server mumbled a response, which I believed was only hotpot was given appetizers. After some time, I walked over to the hotpot area, but people having just BBQ were also eating the appetizers as well. I asked our server again and was given an annoyed face with a "yes." The lack of communication was one thing, but the rudeness was off-putting and ruined the vibe. The meat quality and other food options were fine, but that doesn't help the dine in experience if the staff doesn't care; don't want to visit this place again.

This place is FIRE!!! If you are reading this and you are very hungry; eat here now!…read more To all my peoples in Wichita -- Let me help deconstruct the matter so it makes a little bit more sense. So as most of you know, Korean BBQ has been trending all over the world and it's been a fanfare for many years now. And for those of you who are unfamiliar with KBBQ and AYCE -- these acronyms stand for Korean BBQ and All You Can Eat. Disclaimer: you will smell like charcoal smoke so be advised not to wear your Balenciaga cashmere sweater! Haha, next, in the world of KBBQ, we grill our own food so it's hot off the press and fresh in your tummy. Secondly, hot pot is known in Japanese culture as Shabu Shabu -- meaning, Ghengis Khan used to cook live cattle meat with veggies in a ginormous wok, so he can feed all of his soldiers during their Mongolian conquest when it was freezing cold out. So put 1 + 1 together (KBBQ + HOT POT) and you get this beautiful hybridization known as KPOT. This concept is trending all over California because for one; when you have a ravenous appetite, this place will suffice and two; during a freezing cold February stretch, KPOT will warm you up just like it did Ghengis Khan and all of his soldiers during the harsh Siberian winters. I come from a place called Koreatown Los Angeles, where we take Korean BBQ to new heights each and every year. And let me tell all of you Wichitans something; you have no clue how good this restaurant is on a metric of good to greatest from California to New York. You guys have a 5% Asian population here and yet, you have restaurants like KPOT, KyuRamen and Kimchi. How spoiled you are here in Kansas! Wichita is so beautiful BTW and your food and beef quality is superb. Thank you Kansas! You fed me so well during my stay. I leave for Cali in the morning. Going going back back to... you know the rest :)

Let me start by saying - we were super pleasantly surprised to find a Szechuan place in Kansas. Secondly, the spice wasn't too spicy, so it's more manageable. And lastly, for 10 people, we shared 10 dishes, and it came to only $150.... plus tip, we were still less than $20 a person! That's amazing... that's probably only 5 dishes in NJ/NY, at most. Favs: - Stir fried cabbage, a little spicy but solid. - Veggie lo mein was a hit with the kids, didn't even get to try it. - Egg fried rice was solid, good flavor, enough soy - Hot & spicy fish fillet in chili oil was excellent, not too spicy - Beef in hot sour broth - probably my favorite with the sour pickled veggies - Braised eggplant w/ garlic & chili was solid Just ok: - Braised pork was fatty, and the sauce wasn't as savory as I wanted - Sizzling beef - a little too long on the sizzling plate made it hard by the time I tried it, so probably need to revisit when the dish first comes out and the kids don't delay it - Spicy pig's blood w/ tripe & veggies was ok; I've had better versions but this included a good mix of the offal and veggies. - Potato w/ vinegar flavor - I get the feeling they probably didn't hear that we wanted the one that was spicy; this lacked that peppery ma-la kick. They ran out of the sauteed water spinach, but that's ok... we were full up! Definitely a delicious surprise and good spot to grab food. That being said, service was very slow, so make sure you're aware of that before you go in at a busy time... temper your expectations on speed of service.

The service was a bit slow and looked like they could use more help in the restaurant with host up front and serving. The food was a bit bland.. which isn't a bad thing because if we needed to sauce it up, we could to our own palette with soy sauce. I was expecting the fried rice and chow fun to have two different flavors, but it was very similar flavoring. Felt like I was eating the same thing, just different textures. Fried chicken wings was okay, a bit more batter than what I'm used to. The ambiance on the inside was a nice sit down style.

Super patient, explaining the process. If you haven't had this style of dining it can be a little intimidating at first. Super helpful with suggestions of what to try, Cara even mixed up some of her favorite sauce combinations for us to try. We did the lunch BBQ. Tried just about everything as far as meat and vegetable offered on the lunch menu. So much food! And then there is still a sauce bar with other sides and desserts that also comes with it. We all agreed that it was a fun dining experience. Good food at a reasonable price, nice atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. Restaurant and bathrooms were clean. Thanks again to our server Cara

Full transparency. I wish Yelp let you give half stars because this location isn't quite a 4 star…read more I'd give it closer to a 3.5. It definitely has some kinks to work out, mostly related to service. I've been twice now to this location. This is the 2nd Kpot location in Wichita. I believe it's larger. Wait times even on a Friday evening at 5:30pm we're very short and we walked right in. Lots of staff around just sort of standing so it did feel odd having to wave our server down for things on both trips. I wish the tablet had the feature like other kbbq places I've been to, to request refills or just to request your server swing by. If you're a heavy on the refills, just order yourself two drinks from the get go honestly because you might be waiting a little bit otherwise. Trip one in addition to flagging down our server for refills, we had to ask for a grill swap even though our grill was very obviously burnt and smoking. I try and leave marinated meats for last so we can go longer in between needing swaps. Towards the end of the meal he became more attentive but it definitely took a bit and there were long periods where he didn't check on us and our drinks sat empty or we had to wait to grill our next round of meat because we were waiting on a new grill. The server was plenty nice, just not attentive. On the second trip we brought friends and the gal serving us had a really difficult time remembering 4 drink orders. My friend ordered a soda and a water, never did receive her water. She had to ask my other friend three times what his drink order was and then clarified with his husband his drink which was incorrect. Later when my friend's husband asked for a Dr. Pepper she came back with two drinks because she didn't remember which he had ordered. We had to ask for additional chopsticks and plates as there were only enough for two at the table. She also forgot entirely to turn the grill on at all at the start when we sat down so when we were putting the first round of meat on it was apparent immediately something was wrong. Luckily the controls are intuitive so I just turned it on myself. Just all around odd service. The food? Food is always solid. Hot bar was always stocked. Sauces are plentiful although the only thing I think you need for bbq is just a plain salt/pepper dip. The king mushrooms need trimmed a little better as they still had parts of the really tough stems on them. The calamari was fiiiiiiiishy. I will definitely skip that next time. I never do hot pot-- just a personal choice but it always looks good from the looks of it. I would definitely say if you can make the drive, this is still probably the nicer location over the mall location. It's roomier, everything is newer, lighting is better. The servers just need a little more fine tuning in their training and this will be an all around good spot for kbbq.
