If you live in town or are walking down the highstreet and need a card it's worth popping in, but to be honest I'll usually pick up cards from tesco along with my shopping. I'd expect there to be some more welsh cards to capitalise on the loaction, perhaps postcards and welsh gifts for tourists too. For welsh gifts you're better off at Siop Eryri across the road. For welsh cards, look in the old market hall. It's not a bad shop, and the staff are nice, but I fail to see what they offer that isn't done better and/or cheaper by a number of other places.

Shop itself is well stocked with both Welsh and English books and a small selection of audio CD's and cards. If a book is not instock, it can be ordered in for the very next day. Staff are bilingual and are true experts at helping you and suggesting new books and authors. There wasn't any indictaion of this from the outside, but at the back of the shop there was a small coffee bar, with a few tables and chair and a very large comfortable sofa, where you could loose hours reading books. Also, there were toilets, computers for surfing the internet and a childrens play area. Very modern, yet the shop still had that vintage feel. You don't get that from WHSmith and Waterstones, that's for sure!

This is based in a converted chapel and they make really beautiful love spoons…read more They are handcarved on the premises and they also make miniture spoons as wedding favours. I bought some for my own wedding and they were so beautiful and made a wonderful keepsake of my special day. The prices I thought were pretty reasonable considering how much work goes into each one.

There are also some installations in smaller rooms. Mixtures of ceramics and paintings mostly. The shop reminds me of a national trust shop, with good quality local craft gifts and cards-I bought quite a lot! The cafe is in the conservatory area, selling cream teas, cakes and wines. No large meals served here. You can sit on the benches outside which is nice on a sunny day. In the grounds there is a small theatre and short woodland walk. Worth popping in for an hour.

Poundland is a simple concept - everything either costs a pound or is two for a pound etc. It's a…read morenew shop located close to the M&S Foodhall in the recently opened Menai Centre and looks clean and well maintained. There are no real surprises in the stock, lots of batteries, DIY items, toiletries, food, drinks and so on and on the occasion I went lots of Halloween and Christmas stuff as well. Some decent bargains and some well known brands. It's worth a look and in a city with a large student population should do well.
