In short? Rude and incompetent sales staff that are more interested in making a quick buck over actual customer service that could have fetched them more money. Let me explain... About a week or so ago, I went there looking for a new sidearm for my job. I work in the Armed Security field and needed something reliable bur still budget friendly, so I went there looking for a Smith & Wesson SD9VE. I had been there several times before, so I knew their selection would be pretty ample and given what I was looking for is a pretty popular firearm, I had figured they'd be the ones to have it. That was not the case. Now, initially when I walked in, the sales associate was nice enough, and when he sad they didn't have what I was looking for, I was ok with it as that kind of thing happens. He then proceeds ro ask me what I'm using it for, of which I told him. This is where things QUICKLY go sour. Without missing a beat, he hands me a Stoeger STR9 pistol... Now, for the record, in my job ita important for me to have a good working knowledge of firearms, in addition to knowledge on the support gear needed for an armed security professional. Stoeger is a good firearm, but is absolutely lacking in even a basic duty gear ecosystem. I knew this going in, so when he handed me this pistol, and I knew that even if there was, they wouldn't carry it.) I decided to see if this associate was really paying attention or just blowing smoke up my rear to make a quick sale. Me: "Is there a Level 3 Retention Holster available for this weapon?" Assoc.: "You're going to have to find that on your own." No willingness to assist, no pulling his phone out to look up the information, nothing. Hell, if he had even just plainly said 'no,' Id have been ok with it. There was ZERO customer service skill exuded. Now, juat for the record, the Smith & Wesson pistol i was in the market for is very affordable brand new, is quite popular in the firearms community, and everyone in the community knows this. Keeping in mind that I told him what I was looking for, he asked me what my budget was for my purchase, which in terms of dollars and cents, was $350.00, which is actually more than the MSRP listed. Hearing this was apparently enough to sour the sales associates already poor attitude because he quickly replied back with "Good luck, you'll never find a Smith & Wesson at that price-point." And THAT, is all it took for me to take my money elsewhere because you DO NOT treat a potential customer like they're ignorant, and you sure as hell don't get an attitude with a customer because they show knowledge that you obviously don't have. Incidentally, I did buy my Smith & Wesson at one of their competitors at a cheaper price than what I'm sure Dads would have tried selling it at. Rating 1 star only because Yelp won't let me rate less. read more

On June 3, 2025, I visited Dad's Super Pawn (Pascagoula) to pay off a pawn transaction that I initiated a few weeks prior. My intention was to repay the principal balance and the interest accrued to date--before the next interest period was due. I opted to complete this payment using my debit card. During the transaction, the employee assisting me informed me that there would be an additional charge for using my debit card. However, she did not specify the amount of this surcharge and simply asked if it was acceptable. As I was in a rush and assumed the charge would be nominal (e.g., $1 or less), I consented without further inquiry. Upon reviewing my receipt later, I noticed I was charged an additional $6.56 solely for the use of my debit card. Based on my research, this amount reflects the fee imposed by the card processor, and it appears the business is directly passing this cost on to the customer. This practice is unlawful under Mississippi law. According to Mississippi Code § 75-24-5, which outlines prohibited unfair and deceptive trade practices, businesses are prohibited from imposing surcharges on debit card transactions unless they meet specific notice and disclosure requirements--and even then, such charges are tightly regulated. More directly, under Mississippi Attorney General opinions and interpretations of consumer law, surcharges on debit card transactions may violate the federal Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act and are subject to enforcement actions if improperly disclosed or applied. Furthermore, according to Visa and Mastercard's merchant agreements, surcharges on debit cards--even when processed as "credit"--are not permitted under their terms, which are binding on merchants who accept those forms of payment. This hidden surcharge was neither disclosed clearly nor agreed to in an informed manner and represents a deceptive billing practice. I am requesting that this charge be refunded and that the business be held accountable for engaging in potentially unlawful and deceptive consumer practices. read more

walked into Dad's super pawn today to purchase my husband a gift(gun). I was not knowable about purchasing a gun for the first time and was looking for guidance. It floored me to know that a manager would treat a customer like how I was treated today. The manager kelp making remarks about the time and just seemed very reluctant to help me. I told the manager it's okay sir I will look around on my own. I then faced timed a family member who is knowledgeable of the subject. The manager then comes over as saids I guess it not a surprise if your face timing him. I then said that's not my husband sir. I then pick out the gun that I think my husband would have like. Then manager then said you cannot purchase that gun today because your in here on the phone and FaceTiming people and I don't know if you are trying to "straw purchase". I asked ....I can't be on phone? The manager then said no you cannot? I then ask where are the signs posted saying I cant be on the phone? I then said what is straw purchase? The manager the begins to educate(ever so rudely) me on a straw purchase. At this point I felt like I was being discriminated against(BLACK/WOMEN/ FIRST TIME GUN PURCHASER) due to the manager making a pre conceived notion that I was doing something nefarious, or had ill intentions. I then asked to speak to a manager and that's when I was told he was the manager. I then asked was there another manager and that's when I spoke to the general manager an he was very respectful and actually took the time to explain things to me regarding my purchase. Once the general manger helps me pick out the gun of my choice, another store employee was told to finish up my purchase with me. That employee was also rude. His demeanor was very undermining and short. I had to answer a few questions on an iPad that were along the lines of do I has any felonies/addictions to drugs/or plan to sell gun. The whole time I was completing the questionnaire. This particular employee was constantly looking over the iPad to see what my responses were to that questionnaire. There was one question that I was genuinely confused on. I went to ask the store employee and he stated I can't help you answer the questions. I didn't need any help answering the questions I was asking for clarification on a question because of the way it was worded. So not understanding the question I just click and of course....the employee states sorry due to how you filled out the questionnaire ,I cannot sell you a this gun today. Try again another day. I walked away feeling unassisted/misunderstood with the knowledge that obvious bias was being held against me. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PURCHASING ANYTHING FROM THIS PAWN! I was help by an associate there by the name of Michael, this young man no disrespect, but I feel he's younger than me, so I'll call him young man, but Michael was very instrumental and helpful in answering all of my questions. This was the first time I was able to physically do a comparison of three specific items side-by-side physically right in front of me. 2nd Amendment options. The billboard on I-10 South states they have over 7K items in stock, that might be an understatement. If they don't have it in stock, they can order it, install it, or ship it off for repair. Just had an excellent experience at Dad's Super Pawn. Was looking for an electric guitar (my new hobby). Got there and the place was moderately busy. Saw the guitars hanging behind a counter. No one was immediately available to answer any questions, so I took it upon myself to go behind the unmanned counter and proceeded to check out the huge selection. I found a used Fender Starcaster that was within my budget and laid it on the counter top. Took me about 15 seconds to find someone to help me. He appeared to be on a mission, but happily stopped to help. His name was Collin and he said that he normally works in the back, but took a detour to answer my questions about the guitar. All I needed to confirm was that the instrument was in working order, which required the use of a cable and an amplifier. Collin quickly found the amp and in no time I was paying for my new (new to me) Starcaster. Hats off to Dad's for a very positive experience. Will be back for sure. read more

Had placed a firearm on layaway about two weeks ago and I came back to get the gun today in my Wu Tang clan T-shirt, I get up to the counter the attendant takes my id after I'd told him what I was there for and the guy walks away and comes back thirty seconds later saying " I want to sell you this gun, but you're shirt has drugs on it( it had a pot leaf on it)" he babbled on about the DEA and "Drugs" and guns etc,needles to say they've lost that purchase and any in the future. Called the Pawn Shop and asked if they had .22lr ammo in stock. A young women then answered the and so i asked her. She politely asked me to wait a moment while she checked. 10 mins later still on hold, so i hang up and call right back. This time a man answers the phone and i ask him he said yes. Once I got to the pawn shop i go inside and they where packed. I waited in line for the ammo then the man hands the ammo to a women and i walk over to the register. Women asked me if i had $0.36 (exact change). I said no, hand her the money she opens the register and walks off for a moment. after about a min or so im standing there slightly confused waiting for my change. The women hands me the change and walks off. I was slightly puzzled since she handed me $3 and ask her how much the ammo was she shows me on the receipt and walks off. I tell her this isnt right. Told her I gave her a $20. She stands their for a moment and brings over a manager. The man asked me if i gave her a $10. I told them no, i gave her a $20 (which i did i went to my banks ATM right before I got there and pulled out $100, they only give $20's). I tell the manager that i welcome them to pull the camera and check. The manager says give it to him. I thank them. The women then says "its only $10, we will just take the loss". I then welcome them to check the cameras again. The women says its no big deal so i offer to give them my cellphone number so they can call me if the drawer was short. She refuses. It was my first time I went to the store and I can say it will be the last time. The event put me in a bad mood for the rest of the evening. I know for a fact I gave her a $20 since all i had was $100 all in $20's. It was the fact the women so blatantly accused me of theft that offended me. Let me preface this review with the fact that I have been a gun owner and outdoorsman since I was a teen ager, cut lawns when I was 12yrs old to buy a Browning Light 12 w/gold trigger for $95.00 from Pat O'Neal's Buy & Sell in Biloxi Ms. (almost 50 yrs ago). When I go into any outdoor store Academy, Cook's, Dad's, Walmart etc. I know exactly what I'm going in there to get. I have bought from Dad's off and on for over 20yrs basically because of there selection because I can assure you it's not because of their customer service. I went in there today to buy 1 box of 45/70 Govt ammunition and I stood there 22 minutes without so much as 1 person saying "have you been helped" or "can I help you with something" I walked out after 2 people who came in after me were helped before me. this is more the norm than it is the exception. I'm 6'4" 280lbs it's not like I can play hide-n-seek with a straw. The associates' at Dad's have refined the art of looking through their customers and come off as having the mentality that you need them a lot worse than they need you. I bought a pair of new Ruger 45 Colt Long Viquero bi-centennial pistols. Collector kind of stuff. I'm going back today to buy one of my sons a gun safe. They deliver and have an electric two wheel dolly that climbs steps. Dad's is competitive on thier prices, have a good inventory and plenty of counter help. They are also a class 3 dealer. They told me yesterday that they are going to do a triple expansion. Separate the guns, add more guns and separate the pawn and if that wasn't great enough they are going to build a shooting range on property. Possibly even a gunsmith. With all the gun stores closing from over regulation this is all great news for legal collectors and enthusiasts. I guess I'm fortunate that I have never had to pawn a thing in my life but some of these reviews are because someone wanted more than they're pawn was worth or they didn't know gun laws so they gave a bad review. I have purchased guns at this location in the past. I frequently visit this store but will no longer. I went to this location on Tax Free holiday to purchase a gun because you can never get waited on at regular times. I got there hour early, waited in line. The owner was greeting everyone at front door. I was waited on by young man, picked out what I wanted. He went to the back to get my gun but after 32 minutes he had not returned. The gentlemen at the front door asked could he help and I told him that I had been waiting for half an hour and he proceeded to tell me that I did not understand all that was involved. Now maybe I don't but first of all I have been a business owner for many years and never told a customer anything of the likes. I proceeded to tell him that I did not like coming into this location because each time No one would wait on me. He again proceeded to explain to me that I did not understand. So, I waited an additional 10 more minutes and finally the sale person returned. I completed all paperwork and was approved. I told the sales person to hold on just one second. I walked over to the front door and ask the manager which had approached me a few minutes earlier, "are the hats free?" His response was, "yes, to good customers". I just watched the staff and managers behave in a disgracefully racist manner. A black woman came to their shop to western union some money. The clerk asked her why she was sending an "odd amount." The customer was a little thrown off that they were asking her why she was sending the money but she was polite and said it was for a bill. The clerk then told her they were refusing to serve her because they didn't feel comfortable with the amount she was sending. The customer was polite but persistent in asking why they wouldn't serve her. She said she frequently uses their services to send and receive. She said she felt it was discrimination. As a bystander, I agree. There is no reason to refuse to send a certain amount of money just because it isn't a round number. The staff was very rude to this woman. They then asked me if I needed any help, and I said I thought they should help the customer. The customer then started a conversation with me, and as we were talking the person who I believe was the manager came behind the counter and aggressively told the woman to leave and threatened to call the police on her, a person who was only trying to patronize their business. Absolutely horrendous behavior. Completely racist. The customer was never in the slightest disrespectful or behaving in any way inappropriately. Come on y'all. read more

I had met the owner of Dad's Super Pawn at the Title office in town and he was a super nice guy and asked us to come into his store. We have visited the store (and bought several items) on several occasions since meeting him and have had great service until today. I brought in a ring to be sized about a week ago that I received for a wedding gift. The lady in the jewelry section was really nice when I brought it in and when I came back in today to pick it up she was very cordial. The ring was silver in color when I brought it in and when I looked at it half the band was gold. She immediately apologized and said she had to get a Manager. After talking to Mickey for what seemed like a long time as I stood there watching them he came over and asked how he could help me. I explained that the ring was gold now and that I brought it in silver and that my very special ring had been ruined. He proceeded to tell me that it was probably just silver plated and that it turned to gold during the sizing process. I guess I looked like I couldn't afford a "real" ring as I was dressed in my paint pants. (We flip homes in the area for a living and we do a lot of the work ourselves) I told him that this discoloration was unacceptable whether it was real or silver plated. He then whipped out a loop to examine the ring to prove it wasn't real. He then said "The ring was silver plated and I hope you didn't pay much for it." That made me angry as this was a very special gift to me when I got married in December. The conversation went down hill from there and I began to cry. I called my husband and asked him to come by. At this point another gentleman came over and very reasonably spoke to me in a respectful way and said he will make it right and asked Mickey to step away. Mickey refused to leave and continued to make me feel as if I was a nobody with a ring that was worth nothing. He talked down to me and that did not sit well with me. Not once did he say he would make it right. My husband showed up and went in while I cried in my car. He came back out and said that the lady said they would make it right. I decided to go back in to get the name of Mickey as he never introduced himself. I really would like to tell the owner that Mickey is not good for his store. For 8 years my job was to work with owners of hotels and their employees on methods to show good customer service to their customers. I told Mickey that he sure could have used my course because his customer service is awful. Will I shop here again? Maybe but only because I met the owner and know that the way I was treated today is not what this pawn shop is all about. Everyone else has treated me with great respect. read more
