Beach road is a funny street for anything apart from traffic really but there are a few little restaurants hiding in the background. One of these reluctant stars is Daddy's kitchen, which doesn't look much from the outside, nor once you breach the front door. It was completely empty during my visit, which is always a little disconcerting as it felt a little like I was being watched like a criminal as I waited (not for long) for my food! That aside, my dumplings were pretty good. Not necessarily the best I have ever eaten but not objectionable in any way. I think the location will ultimately mean Daddy's kitchen is rarely busy during the day, which is a pity because if it was more prominent downtown I am sure it would attract people in. I was assured that it is busier in the evenings though, so if you plan a visit, maybe go for dinner. read more
