I love that this restaraunt has an onsite pasta atelier. They keep to traditional Italian recipes while sourcing local ingredients for a true farm to table experience. The end result, a masterpiece! Everything's fresh, authentic and flavorful. This particular dish, in my opinion is the star of the show. It IS somewhat spicy without being overbearingly hot...this is part of the allure. I'm sure that I'll visit again before leaving Brussels and will, yes - order the exact same dish! Must eat outside and do a bit of people watching as visitors transit the city center. The fabulously dressed flamboyant gentleman was kind and helpful. The sassy woman was hilarious! -Portions are pretty decently sized and priced fairly Why three stars? I just didn't enjoy anything that we ordered. Sadly, it was my least favorite meal that we had in Belgium. Based on all the reviews, I think it's clear that it's not the place per se, but what I was looking for. That being said, I still must be honest. What we ordered: Cheddar Croquettes (2 for 14 Euros): Just ok and this was one of the things that I felt was overpriced Carpaccio of Smoked Beef with White Truffle Oil (18 Euros): Again, just ok Meatloaf with "Jack Pepper" sauce (26 Euros): "Jack Pepper" means something different in Brussels. It was basically a peppercorn gravy. I wasn't a fan, but Jim G. enjoyed it. With this, we had frites and a small side salad. I know many people recommend that Flemish Beef Stew, but we already had that at Fin de Siecle, and I couldn't imagine that any place would top it, so we didn't get it here. Ultimately, this place isn't for me, but I seem to be in the minority.

Anyways, I sat down and ordered their bucket of mussels with cream and paella with seafood and chicken. The food arrived within 10 minutes or so. My first impression of the bucket of mussels was just wow. There is a lot. I tried one and these are by far the best mussels I've ever had in my life. They were fresh and smooth, along with a amazing mussel taste. Texture and quality were on another level compared to ones I had near newport beach in California. I lost count of how many mussels I had after 40. It came with a side of fries as well. For its price this was an absolute steal. The paella was also my first time trying one. I ordered it based on the picture I saw on their front door and it was also delicious. The chicken was juicy, the mussels were just as fresh as the ones in the bucket. The addition of lemon juice to the rice gave it a nice tingy taste. The squid and shrimp were tiny compared to the picture but still delicious. Overall, I had underestimated this place. My bill also only added up to 33 euros too, which for its price was way better than anything else I've had in Europe. If I am ever back in this city, I will be coming back to this place for some more.

UPDATE JUNE 2016…read more Worst experience ever in this restaurant. It took already 20min before we could order. They said it is busy today so it would take 40min before our pizzas would come. We said "ok" but if we could get already a antipasti (some cheese etc) we would be very happy. That was no problem. Then the waiting started. First again 20 min for our drinks an other 40 min for some cheese. The waiter was rude. And when we asked for an explanation why other tables had already their food even if they ordered after we did. He went angry etc. He made his excuses after we had our pizzas but the nice atmosphere was already gone. We got the antipasti free but we will never go back again. A pity but respect your clients. ...................... OLD MESSAGE FROM LAST YEAR Lekker gegeten dat mag gezegd worden.

The food was lovely, I recommend the "Saltimbocca alla Romana" and also the pizzas looked really good. It is expensive, let's make this clear, and when you make people pay a lot, you cannot afford to make mistakes. The wine we had was certainly kept in the fridge which is a terrible mistake for an expensive Chianti which was in fact spoilt. 6 euros for a tiny side salad is quite outrageous even for such place. This why I can't give more than three stars which is a pity because for occasions like birthdays, Saint Valentines, anniversaries is certainly a good spot.
