Famished, felt sick to the stomach, and felt ready to skip lunch when I arrived in Sintra. Although my friends were interested in checking out Chinese food in Portugal, I sort of hesitated at first mostly because I missed the feeding point. Being the skeptic that I am sometimes, I thought I was not going to trust what I was going to lay my eyes on. Much of that doubt quickly went away once my family member asked for the better items on the menu. This actually served as a nice brunch! Some fried rice, pork noodles, stewed beef, vegetables on the side, and soups were really delicious! Most of the stuff was really soft, chewy, and smelled really good! Right when we finished ordering, our meals came to our tables right away. Think of some superstar or flash powered hero doing the training for the employees? Carrying on, there are some windows in the back looking out into the rolling hills which house the palaces of the old nobility back in the day before the collapse of the Portuguese Monarchy. As I ate everything, I was glad to have accepted it as it really hit the spot, It is one of the better Asian restaurants that I have tried in the region. I couldn't care any more about my preconceived fears or doubts as expressed when I wanted to order some more eggplant on the side. That turned out not too sweet and not sour because I had personally requested it that way. Of course it is designed mostly for tourists, for what it was I loved what I had with everything. Some parts of the food were dampened with too much oil or spread with too much salt. I cannot really blame them for the latter because a lot of the European style restaurants nearby add a lot of salt to begin with. I do not blame them, if they want to stay in force with the league of restaurants in the area to attract all customers, they need to comply, end of story. There were plenty of Portuguese students having a pleasant meal here, meaning don't go for the fast food! I am taken aback by the negative reviews here, after all Sintra is one of the most expensive areas in the Iberian Peninsula, I should think there is something surprisingly excellent that they offer here. The service staff loved to engage with us about what the quickest routes to get to Pena Palace nearby and even directed us to where the buses run. They were cooperative and even sped up my order to make sure we could get to the sights early before our last shuttle back to Lisbon. What a pleasant place on a warm, sunny afternoon! read more
