So grateful for Greg. Very knowledgeable and honest. I have Aeolian piano player I recently purchased that I wanted tuned and if he could get the player to work. He only tune a few because there was rust on the pins and in order to bring it to pitch there could be a risk of a string snapping, it would be costly. I was happy with the sound despite my piano being half step off and I could live without it being in pitch/tune. So then we switched to figuring out the player piano issues. He manual tried to pedal it and was he pedaling hard and actual got some keys to play... but he said "don't get peloton you got this !" I laughed and said, "I don't think I could pedal it." Luckily it was electric and when I purchase this piano the previous owner did not have the power cord to used the player part. So when talking to Greg prior to him coming I sent photos of where I need the power or the cord and he said he probably may have something, will see or find one to fit and connect. When he checked it physically he had a connecting plug that he cut off from something and another plug to plug in the outlet and put them together to build me a power cord! I was fascinated watching him strip and rewire these two separate cords. He made the perfect power cord. We plugged it in and my piano was powered and running!!! I got so excited!! So we put a roll on but it wasn't playing the sounds at first but as it continued it was adding more notes sporadically but not fully playing the song. Still unsure of the hiccups he was thinking and tweaking. We decide to change to a different roll to see if that would work. The issue was playing and rerolling the rolls. It was semi stuck. He kept tweaking and as intricate as this piano is we got under a tight area where the lever to play and reroll control was detached and it was part of the main hiccup for not working. He got it connected and tighten things back. We try again and started to play the roll and it scared the crap out of us as the song played and it was so LOUD and a JOY to hear "zip pee Do dah". It brought me back in time as little girl going Ferrell's! Amazing such a vintage instrument created in the 60's sounded so fantastic! Thank you Greg for not only bring my piano to life but just great customer care, knowledge of the instrument, honesty and great conversation. I am beyond thrilled. This was the most outstanding, thoughtful, professional service I had ever received for my Steinway. My piano is my most prized possession, something given to me by my grandmother (herself a great pianist). Not only that, I had received a tuning a short while earlier I was unhappy with. There were numerous notes that were not sounding good at all, and even an issue with the pedal clicking strangely. Suffice to say, I knew this piano could sound a lot better. I explained all of this to Greg, who listened patiently and attentively. Then, he embarked on a marathon tuning / repair session that lasted well over three - yes, three- hours. Afterwards, he summarized some options for more involved upkeep (replacing hammer felt, etc. ) that I might want to have happen down the line. He provided sensible explanations as to why this would be, and pointed to visible evidence on the piano to illustrate his points. He even, during his tuning, treated me to a few supreme measures of a Scarlatti sonata! (Quite a pianist, Greg is!) I can't speak highly enough of Greg. He is very skilled, pays attention to what you want, and gives advice about whether that's possible or advisable. After a move, my Boston baby grand had sounded a little "tinny" to my ears. I had tried another tuner who was not able to restore the more mellow sound it had had before. I then found Greg. He first tuned it at the beginning of 2020, when, although he was able to improve the sound, it still wasn't quite as I wanted. He just tuned it again, remembered what I had asked for 18 months earlier, worked at it for 90 minutes and this time he was able to get just the sound I wanted. I did not get my baby grand piano tuned for a while. It required a couple of tunings. After the first tuning, the tuner said I needed new felt on the hammers. Other tuners began quoting me hammer replacements. Greg was the only one who thoughtfully asked about the piano and then concluded that I did not need hammer replacements. When he came to service the baby grand, he was detailed from tuning, raising the pitch, making small adjustments to the pedal and seat, and vacuuming the dust. There was no rush.
