Luckily, I live around the corner from this place. Health & Harmony sells Chinese herbs and remedies and offers acupuncture services. I do not subscribe to the idea that Western medicine is bout about it. I used to suffer from horrible migraines, and one of the most successful treatments I received was acupuncture. Whatever ails you, Health & Harmony has something to fix you right up. I picked up some herb-tea packets that tasted really funky but did the trick. I also go some various other pills and potions to deal with headaches, cold and sleeplessness. Seriously, if there is something wrong with you, why not try something different before heading off to the doctor? The staff is awesome and full of knowledge. If they weren't it would be incredibly difficult to find what you need, as a lot of packages are written in Chinese.

This review only concerns beauty items. Holistic treatments might be great here, which is what this…read moreplace specialises in, I believe. I got a facial plus head, neck & shoulder massage bought with a voucher for very good value. I arrived for my appointment early and was still made to wait in one of the treatment rooms for 40 mins, with no heads up that it might be a while. Facial itself was ok, though 20 of the 60 mins was just spent with more waiting by myself with a mask on. The massage at the end was pretty crap: 5 min, over the clothes, may as well not have bothered. Glad I didn't pay full price, left more frustrated than relaxed.

Ok so I've been looking for a yoga studio that I REALLY like in Dublin for quite some time. They're…read morealways either too smelly or too regimented or too fake or have terrible schedules or not enough choice. Enter the Elbow Room. It's not quuiite five star (purely because the classes don't fit exactly to my schedule, so I'd prefer if there were a few more to choose from), but it's very nearly there. Firstly, it's in a very old building that's been renovated nicely, in that bit of Dublin that's kinda Smithfield, kinda Stoneybatter. There's something about the approach to the building that instills a calm in me already - there's nothing more off-putting than trying to get your zen on in a community hall or office block. The calm continues inside with nice homely decor, and an overriding sense of tranquility (candles and insence are great aren't they!) Then there is the range of classes available. Everything from Vinyasa Flow to Hatha, Ashtanga and Hot Yoga. As I said, it would be great if they had a choice of one of these per day - they are spread out over the week - so this won't be the studio for you if you want to do only one type per day. There is also a free vege lunch if you attend one of the day time classes. The classes that I've been to so far have generally had about 15 people in them, so it's never been too crowded. I've also not had a teacher that I haven't rated highly. This is all after just a few weeks in this spot, so come back for the re-review in a few months time, but for now, I'm zenned up like a *&*%^!

Then he told me to lie down on the couch with the needle in my back, first I objected but then he assured me that it'd be fine. I guess he injected me with something behind my back that's why the needle was not supposed to hurt me when lying down flat on the couch. I still cannot comprehend that. After the session my left arm was bruised and paralysed but I did not complaint thinking it may go away with time. It's been over 6 months now and the pain both in my left shoulder joint and left shoulder blade/lung persists. I had a couple of lung X-rays and they detected some damage in my left lung, where he injected or stabbed something behind my back without even showing me the depth of the needle or perhaps an injection he made given his invitation to lie down flat on a couch with a needle supposedly sticking out of my left shoulder blade? I dont understand his manipulation. Physiotherapy is not helping either. I tend to think that he intentionally damaged my left lung and muscles. I had accupuncture sessions before by Chineese practioners and never had any trauma or health issues. I went there hoping to relax but came back traumatised and damaged. He seems to have positive reviews overall, perhaps he just disliked me or someone paid him to damage my lung? Still puzzled and left with no answer...

Joy Lennon is a quack who lives in Clontarf, a lady who my father sees on a regular basis. Joy has…read moresome sound medical training in that she is a nurse (NOT a GP though, I must point out at this point). As well as her real medical qualification, Ms. Lennon is also a "trained" homeopath and acupuncturist. Now, some of you may have heard a lot of pros and cons about this whole homeopathy lark: it's just water, and homeopaths themselves admit as much. Only they think that it's magical water. It's pretty weird. Herbal medicine has been around a very long time, it's advocates point out. Yes it has. The stuff that works becomes "medicine", without the herbal prefix, and the stuff that doesn't work is just bits of twigs and such. My Dad goes to see this lady every couple of months. The usual diagnosis he receives is "You're intolerant to wheat". Now, I'd like to point out that in any of the previous fifty-odd years of my father's life, no actual real doctors have ever noticed this intolerance to wheat, and that Ms. Lennon is no way qualified to make this diagnosis. Nor has she ever cured this alleged intolerance to wheat, so I don't see why he keeps going to her. But every couple of months he does, and writes a nice cheque at the end, too. He brought me there once, and she pricked with little needles that had been rubbed with wheat and milk and cat fur and such. I seem to remember the results were inconclusive, but I don't think that I'm bothered by wheat or dairy or cat fur, and if I was, you can bet your arse that I'd go to see a real doctor who'd been through medical school and not some kooky lady peddling woo to gullible members of the middle classes. Phew, that feels better.
